Joseph had told his servant to fill the sacks with plenty of food.put the money in the mouth of the sacks, but in the youngest brother's sack put the silver cup."I wonder why he wanted him to do that "said Lucy as they both followed and watched the servant do everything Joseph had asked him to do and in the morning the brother's set off back to their Father's house in Caanan. They hadnt gone too far when Lucy looked back and saw the servant catching up."He's calling the brother's thieves saying they stole Joseph's silver cup when we saw him put it in Benjamins sack" said Lucy. Peter and Lucy jumped off the donkey caught by one of the men placed gently on the ground one at a time and the sacks were taken down and opened. Joseph's brother's were arguing with the servant asking why they needed to steal the cup they had plenty of money. They only came to buy food, but if the servant wanted to he could search the sacks and if he found the cup in any of them. The brother that owned the sack would become Joseph's slave. Lucy said he shouldnt have said that, because both her and Peter knew the cup was in Benjamin's sack. Joseph and the servant knew too.Joseph had told him to put it there and the servant had done as Joseph said, but he looked through each sack starting at the eldest not letting on that he knew where the cup was and then when he got to Benjamins sack there the cup was. Everything was packed back in the sacks and all Joseph's brothers returned to Egypt and stood before Joseph. Joseph asked which sack the cup was in although he already knew and they said "Benjamin's"
Joseph said "You all can go now take the silver and the food back home to your Father's house.Your youngest brother Benjamin will stay as my slave"
"Their Father won't like them coming back without Benjamin. He thinks he has already lost a son and to lose another would break his heart"said Lucy. The Brother's argued with him. Reuben the oldest said "let my little brother go home to my Father. Let me stay in his place."
"Joseph is clearing the room he's telling everyone to leave. I wonder if he's going to tell them who he is. He's crying again" said Lucy," so Hard, everyone in the house must be able to hear him." Joseph began to tell his brothers who he was and he told them not to be afraid.Everything that happened to him after they had sold him had all turned out for the good. That God had sent him on ahead to prepare for the famine that is here now, so that Father and you and all the family wouldnt starve. It was God keeping his promise.Hes right said Lucy he came here as a slave now God has made him ruler.Joseph has told them to go and tell his Father that he was alive and was ruling over Egypt. That there is plenty of food and land for all of you .Go and bring him here."I'm so glad he has told them who he is and that everything is alright between them. He's hugging them and talking with them and sending them on their way home to bring their father and the rest of the family," Lucy told Peter His Father was overjoyed to know that Joseph was alive and that he would see him before he died .
When Pharoh heard about Joseph's brothers and how they had no food and that Joseph wanted them to be brought to Egypt He sent carts to carry their goods, and gave them food for the journey. All the family travelled towards Egypt. They stopped for a rest in Beer Sheba
"This is where Abraham and Abimelech made a treaty about
the digging of Abraham's well. I remember coming here" said Peter. The same land that Isaac stayed in during the Famine
While resting there Peter and Lucy heard the voice again. He's speaking to Jacob, He says they are not to be frightened of going down into Egypt that they were going to be a mighty nation. I will be there with you, All was packed up again and they set off once more to Egypt. Jacob excited about seeing the son he thought was dead and lost to him.As they came near to Egypt Judah went ahead of them. They didnt know the way to Goshan and he went to ask how to get there and Joseph told Pharoh they had arrived
Five of Joseph's brother's were chosen to stand before Pharoh and just as Joseph had told them too They told him they were shepherd's like their Father. That they were there only for a while, because there was no food where they lived in caanan. Pharoh was pleased and gave them the best piece of land called Goshen Joseph rushed to meet his Father in a chariot and threw his arms around him and they both cried for a long time. Peter and Lucy went with him as he took his Father to meet Pharoh and his Father thanked and blessed Pharoh. The whole family flocks and herds settled in Goshen and Pharoh provided them with food.It was a wonderful time for Peter and Lucy.Peter liked being in the Palace with Joseph and also helping the brother's with the flocks. Lucy liked to be in the Palace kitchens watching all the food being prepared and also with the wives and children in Goshen.Peter travelled with Joseph as he collected the money for the food, but soon the money ran out and he exchaned food for sheep and cattle and then when that ran out he bought all the land with the food for Pharoh and all the land belonged to Pharoh and the people worked the land and Joseph gave them seed, but a part of what was grown had to be given to Pharoh and what was left would be there's. Jacob and the family lived in Egypt for seventeen years and it was time for Jacob to die. Peter was in the palace with Joseph and went with him to Goshen. He took Manassah and Epraim his two sons with him. Peter went to look for Lucy and she was in with Jacob."He has taken Joseph's sons and made them his and he has blessed them" said Lucy. Now he is blessing all his sons too.
Joseph has asked Pharoh if he could bury his Father in Caanan. Pharoh said yes and when Jacob was prepared all Jacobs sons and all the houshold with people from Pharoh's court set off to bury Jacob only the children the flocks and herds were left in Goshen.
Jacob's sons buried Jacob and returned to Egypt. Peter found Lucy. "Joseph's brothers are frightened now their Father is dead they think Joseph will be angry now and was still holding a grudge against them and waited till their Father died. They have sent a messgage to Joseph from their Father telling him to forgive his brother's and Joseph is crying again. They have told him not to harm them that they will be his slaves.Joseph has told them he is where God put him, So he could save their lives and the lives of all his people when the famine came. That he would look after them and not to be frightened, but they had to do one thing for him don't bury me in this place carry my bones out of here when you leave and God will help you. Lucy and Peter stayed there and Joseph died, they missed him so much. His brother's did what he asked and prepared him and Placed him in a coffin, but did not bury him in Egypt
After the death of Joseph Peter and Lucy found themselves once more on the platform. The book turned and the page was turned over. It was the start of a brand new adventure. Peter and Lucy said goodbye to each other. They would miss each other, but both new they would meet again. See you soon they both said to each other. They stood before their garden gates and opened them it was as if they had never left.
The adventures were good, but it was good to be home even though they missed each other. There would be other adventures as the pages on the book turn. What theydidnt know it would be a a little while before they would return.
We can learn from the adventures if we truly look and see.
I wonder where they will go next
( but that is another story )
