I know the title to today's quick tip may surprise some of you (I know I was when I first heard about this), but there is a good basis behind it, so don't stress out just yet. First, allow me to ask you all a question: If you use Internet Explorer 7, are you truly happy with it? I mean, does it do everything you need it to as a Web browser? If you're an IE user, it's obviously your browser of choice, but are there some things you can think of that could be improved? I'll give you a second to think that over. Then when you're ready, come back and finish reading this tip. It'll all make sense to you soon, I promise! In between the time when IE 7 was released (almost one year ago today) and now, it seems as if Microsoft has found some things within the updated browser that they are not satisfied with. Of course, there are several pros to using IE 7, including its phishing filter, the steps it has taken to prevent online fraud, the tabbed browsing, QuickTabs, easier printing, CSS improvements, new add ons, etc., but there are still some other things that could use a little touching up. And that's exactly what Microsoft is offering its users with an "Installation and Availability Update" for Internet Explorer 7. Let's find out what all this second release entails, shall we?! First of all, the new IE 7 will no longer require the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) validation. With that out of the way, IE 7 will now be available to all Windows XP users. Some of you may have had a problem downloading the new browser when it was first released, but it is now ready for everyone. The re-release will also show the menu bar (the File, Edit, View, etc. menus) by default, which definitely comes in handy. This new IE 7 also has an updated online tour, so if you're a first time user, you will be getting the full treatment in learning how to use it. So, if you would like to give this new version a try, you can download it right here. That's all you have to do to start enjoying your favorite Web browser, again. I love it! |
