Today's readings: Genesis 23:1-24:51 Matthew 8:1-17 Psalm 9:13-20 Proverbs 3:1-6
--------------------------------------- Today's verse:
"And I tell you this, that many Gentiles will come from all over the world and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven." Matthew 8:11 --------------------------------------- When you have a need you become very dependent. Let's say you want to raise a large chunk of capital. How is that going to happen? You approach some large donors, presenting the case but ultimately dependent on them to respond. They have to want to. You can lobby by pleading, bringing their peers to the table to help you pitch, challenge, present benefits, change the direction to suit - all sorts of things go on but basically, the recepient is dependent on the giver. They have to want to. That's why this story is so beautiful.
"Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached Jesus. He knelt before him, worshipping. 'Lord' the man asked, 'if you want to, you can make me well again.' Jesus touched him. 'I want to,' he said. 'Be healed!' And instantly the leprosy disappeared." (Matt. 8:2,3). That's Jesus. I'm 110% dependent on his want to, too.
