Joy from the Monastery | Thoughts from Sister Patricia
.
Quote for the Day: Don't let a day go by without praying a little! Prayer is a duty, but it is also a joy because it is a dialogue with God through Jesus Christ. Pope John Paul II
Quote from the book, "101 Inspirational Stories of the Power of Prayer" | Archives of JoyNotes
McCain's Concession - Grace and Dignity - I hope we all can do that.
Well, we have a new President of the United States. At first I was quite depressed about it.... because I was not very "pro" Obama" but now I am just sort of adopting a "wait and see" attitude. I do think all Christians need to pray very much for this new president - that he will be open to God's guidance and not rely on his own. Push comes to shove that is always the bottom line. That is certainly what I need to pray for myself!
I am very glad that we have our first black president. That part I do think is glorious. That in itself is truly something to be on the Victory side to be in agreement with.
I am also very, very glad that the election is over. It seemed such a bitter, depressing battle - seemed like so much hate and mud slinging. I don't see how that does any country much good. But then again at least we have the Freedom to do that.
I do have fears for the country. But my trust is in God not in one political party or the other. When push comes to shove - we need to pull together, work together and most of all pray for each and everyone. "More things are accomplished by prayer than this world dreams of" - my favorite quote of Alfred Lord Tennyson. I am sooooo totally pro life and that will be a strong focus of my prayers for the country.
Ooooh.. rats! I was writing this and I missed Senator McCain's concession speech. Sad. The sisters said it was very gracious. Yeah! I am glad it was so good. I am going to try and find it on this internet ... should be showing up soon. I do hope the country will pull together without someone having to attack us to do it. Maybe its kind of like being in a family.. brothers and sisters fight sometimes (okay maybe lots of times).. but don't even let an outsider enter into the fray! They will all turn on them.
Blessings of Peace and All Good, Sister Patricia and all the Sisters
