The Longest Wall
There is this long wall, the longest wall ever known to man. It starts at the top of the earth and goes on non-stop until it has completely created two separate worlds.
Within those two separate worlds, are subterranean walls, that are even more separate from the others.
The first wall separates the people - those who have more than they need, from those who are in desperate need.
In the subterranean walls, the people are separated by the color of their skin and race, their income level, where they live and what type of house or apartment they may call home.
Then there are the walls that separate the people who are too short or too fat, too tall or too thin; those with blue eyes and brown and others who are not considered one of the chosen ones by any of the walls that separate.
The earth reverberates with so many different sounds. The wail of a starving baby, dying because those who have more than they need, never stop wanting more and more, no matter what the cost. The sound of gunshot, as innocent women and an old man are shot down because the color of their skin differs from the ones who have more than they need, including guns and bombs and weapons of mass destruction.
The united cry of the people as they suffer for days without food and water, waiting for help to come after a terrible storm destroys everything in its path and leaves the people stranded on top of their houses, water swirling around them like the Great Flood as told in the Christian Bible.
But no help comes. In spite of all the people who have more than they need, they will not help and do not want to give up anymore than they have to help the people crying out in the nearly destroyed city. Instead, those who have more than they need, turn a deaf ear. After all, the voices crying out from the masses of people are black and brown and poor or they are not Christian. They are looked upon as the enemy who will try to take from those who have more than they need.
At one wall, the people try desperately to get to the other side to escape the poverty and to get work and dream of a new life but they are not wanted or permitted to cross. Guards watch for them. Militias of the people who have more than they need, are lined up all along the wall. But they are not going to give up what they have because of nonsense laws that had been written in the Book of Justice. They would shoot them quicker than a rattlesnake can strike, rather then let them threaten to take anything from the people who have more than they need.
All over the earth, people are separated and suffering for it. It is not fair or balanced or just and the earth feels this negative presence and heavy load upon her, bearing down, a heavy and sad burden to bear.
High above the earth, beyond the stars, the Creator of all people looks down at the people separated by the walls and he cries, his tears dropping to the earth. His tears rain upon all the earth and people. He can not bear it any longer.
He silently calls out for the warriors of the earth and suddenly the dark night sky is filled with the warriors, their mission known for all time and this was the time it would happen.
They descend upon the Earth and begin to destroy the walls that separate the people, the animals, the land, the rivers and oceans. Those who have more than they need try to fight the warriors, desperately trying to keep all they had to themselves, not willing to share or to help the people in need and want, who have met with injustice, murder, genocide, disease and torture. The warriors are determined to remove the walls of hatred and racism.
There is more than enough for all of the people and all of the animals to live in harmony and peace upon the earth, if only it is shared, given, and each person feels that spiritual connection to another as brother or sister, mother or father, son or daughter, grandmother or grandfather, uncles and aunts and cousins and friends.....the connection to all the animals and the plants, to the rivers, streams and oceans, the air, the sky, the moon, the stars and the sun.
Finally all the walls are destroyed and the people who have been separated begin to travel from place to place, in awe of all they see, bringing satisfaction to their bellies with good food and their lips are no longer dry and chafed because they have no water to drink.
A hush falls over the earth and all is quiet and peaceful and the earth begins to feel itself moving, coming to balance again, the wounds of centuries cured. The sun returns, shining gloriously against a clear, bright sky and the earth is renewed, everything is reborn.
Standing there is a woman, her back to the broken walls, a small baby in her arms, who begins to smile and the woman sings out, “We are in balance again. No longer is their greed and hunger and pain and suffering. No longer do the children cry out in pain. The old ones no longer have sad, expression less eyes. Their eyes are filled with hope and love, peace and joy at knowing that this has all come to an end. It is as if a curse has been lifted.
The baby laughs out loud with joy. All the people are gathered together and feel peace with one another. There is no longer any need to put up walls and subterranean walls to separate any of the people from each other.
An old man smiles and gently touches the hand of a young child. A black man takes a hand in friendship which at one time would have struck him down to the ground, who would murder his body and soul because his skin was dark.
All over the earth, hands are held out and then clasped together and the people begin to sing. It is a happy song, a song filled with love and truth, justice and fairness, equality and respect for everything Creator made.
Sing the song, work for justice and truth, fairness and equality, treat other people with love and respect. Share what we have and there will always be plenty for all.
