Today's readings:
   1 Kings 7:1-51
    Acts 7:30-50
    Psalm 128:1-6
    Proverbs 16:31-33

---------------------------------------
Today's verse:

How happy are those who fear the LORD- all who follow his
ways!  You will enjoy the fruit of your labor.  How happy
you will be!   How rich your life!
Psalm 128:1-2
---------------------------------------
I bet just about every year on this date there is one verse
that jumps out at me.  I might enjoy and comment on others
but it’s this one that I’m really wrestling with.  “We may
throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall.?
(Proverbs 16:33)  What a paradox.  What a statement of
meaning and knowing.  What a statement of sovereignty.
Wrapped up in that one proverb is free will vs.
determination, Calvinism vs. Armaniusism, pride vs. utter
dependency, control vs. out of control.  I’m wondering if
one of the best things I can think about or act out on this
earth is knowing that in everything, absolutely everything,
God is in control.  Everything.  That means I relax.  That
means I do things He wants to do and do it His way.  It’s
the best way.  Quite frankly it’s the only way.  So get used
to it.

God didn't go half way when he went to work on my behalf. He did it all.
Even when I couldn't feel him, even when I couldn't sence him, even when I
wasn't holding on to him anymore, God worked on my behalf.
He didn't need me to do a thing! When I faced far worse than my worst
imaginings, something unexpected and wonderful happened. I realized that God
is in control and God is good.-even when bad things happen in our lives.
Even though I didn't know what I might have to go through next, I could rest
and accept it.
Because now I knew that when I let go, I would fall into the strong hands of
God.
