Granny was a flapper Way back in ?2 I'd like to dance the "Charleston" The way she use to do.
When Granny was a flapper Her clothes was really neat She wore fringe on her dresses Fancy shoes on her feet.
Each one of her boy friends Thought she was really cute They dressed up to high heaven In a knock dead "zoot suit."
And when she started dancing Everybody soon would stop As she did her little "Charleston" Up on the tabletop.
Those days movies were silent Background music filled the gap When Granny was a flapper I would like to have seen that.
Today the music's very strange Weird things done to their hair Granny dreams about the "Charleston" Sitting in her rocking chair!
When Granny was a flapper Way back in ?2 I wish I could have seen her then How about it, wouldn't you? Ginny Bryant© Ginny's Gift Of Love NOTE: Ginny's poetry is Copyright through the Library Of Congress and cannot be copied or used by whole or part in any way without her written permission.... |
