Isaiah 40:28-31 KJV 28Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. 29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30Even the youths shall faint and be weary and the young men shall utterly fall: 31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. As we search the scriptures, sometimes God shows us nuggets of His wisdom. There are lessons to be learned in everything that God created if we will only take the time to look at everything through spiritual eyes. The eagle is a universal symbol of freedom and power and there is much we can learn from them. The eagle mates for life and uses the same nest for life which they usually build on the ledge of a sharp cliff. The largest nest known was nine foot wide and twenty foot deep. When the young are hatched both parents take full responsibility for the care of the babies.
At three months old the young birds get special feathers for flying and a new learning experience begins. The mother eagle flies into the nest and begins to thrash about causing a great commotion. Eventually one of the babies will fall out of the nest and begin heading to the earth below. Not yet knowing how to fly, they usually just flap their wings and keep falling to the earth below. Just before the baby hits the ground the mother eagle flies underneath to catch it on her powerful wings and flies it back to the nest. This goes on day after day until all the babies learn how fly.
Deuteronomy 32:11-12 KJV 11As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: 12So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.
Have you ever wondered why God stirs up things in our lives and brings trials to us? We humans can get very comfortable in our way of doing things, in our way of thinking, in our opinions and way of living life. We stop growing and become complacent. We don't like to be made to stretch our wings and grow and we even view these things as a negative in our lives. We strive hard to find security and become comfortable and we moan and groan when God is trying to grow us by bringing trials into our lives.
<MARQUEE loop=20 width="75%" bgColor=#000080>Trials and tribulations help us grow spiritually!</MARQUEE> God on the other hand wants us to grow. He wants us to soar and become all that He intends for us to be. In order to lead an abundant life we must grow. We must learn how to step out on faith trusting Him to always be there to catch us. Faith can only grow when it is exercised, when we put action to our faith. An example I have always liked was when the Israelites had come to the Jordan River after forty years wandering in the dessert. God told Joshua to have the priests put their feet in the water. When they, by faith, placed their feet in the water God parted the Jordan River for all of Israel to pass over. It was by taking action their faith came to fruition. (Joshua 3)
Psalm 103:1-5 KJV 1Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name. 2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles.
When eagles are about 30 years old they go through a renewal process. They find a hidden place high in the mountains and begin to claw at their faces and tear out the feathers that have been damaged over the years. As a result they bleed badly, but this is necessary for the eagle to renew its strength and by doing this it can live to its normal sixty years of age. In like manner, a time of renewal is necessary for every child of God.
We all need a time when we get rid of the sinful habits that are weighing us down and holding us back, the things that are aging us spiritually. It is time to submit to the Holy Spirit's guidance and conviction. This renewal needs to be done even to the point of causing pain. Without this spiritual renewing we cannot attain the long, powerful and useful spiritual life that God plans for us.
We were created to bring glory to the holy God of creation, made to soar like an eagle through the renewing of our minds and souls by the sacrifice of Jesus the Christ.
Ephesians 2:8 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
John 3:16 KJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Learn to soar like an eagle so all that see you will want to know what is different about you and will desire to soar also.
