Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters The Seventh Day As we started the new Torah portion this last Shabbat I learned and discovered so many new things again! The Lord opened up areas that we had not noticed before as we sat and discussed these Scriptures with everyone at our home Fellowship. This is why it is so important for us to go through the cycle each year. So that Adonai can teach us new and wonderful truths from His Word! What a precious gift the Sabbath is really truly put it into practice setting time apart to spend 24 hours totally immersed in the presence of The Almighty! This is His appointed time were He asks of us to come to Him, He wants to meet with us and teach us how to live and apply His Word and walk in His ways. Of course He wants us to be with Him all the time every day, yet, in Genesis 2: 2 "and on the seventh day Adonai finished His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made". Verse 3, "and Adonai blessed the seventh day and Hallowed it because that in it He rested from all His work which Adonai in creating had made". Now do we really think honestly that Adonai needed to rest? Of coarse not it is in His nature to create. I've pondered over this Scripture so many times and I marvel to think of what Adonai did that day. I think He sat back and watched all that He created in the previous six days knowing what He had set in motion. One reason I believe He rested was so that it was an example for us. Already Adonai was and is showing us by example how to live! He worked six days likewise we to work six days yet on the seventh day He rested so why don't we? Because we are stubborn and stiff neck people and we want to do things our way that's why. When we choose to walk and honor Adonai and follow and His footsteps we bless His heart. We do it not because we have to but because we want to because we love Him. It is that these appointed times our hearts and minds can be totally focused on Him! We put aside the cares and worries of this world and enter into His presence and shalom! Because if it is a time that He has appointed to meet with us, you can be sure that He will show up! He is faithful to His Word and He proved it. I think it was on the first day of the second week that, " Adonai's voice was heard walking in the garden cool of the day" Genesis 3:8. Remember I am no Bible scholar I just figure that Adonai Elohim rested on the seventh day the following day He went to visit and help Adam and Eve there in the garden tending it. Unfortunately I think another reason Adonai stepped out of the picture on the seventh day was because He had given man free well. On the seventh day Adam and Eve were enjoying each other and wandering around enjoying beauty the garden all of Adonai's creations. Then came the enemy and destroyed everything causing Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge and sin to enter into the world. Don't think this came as a surprise to Adonai think He knew very well that it was going to happen before He even created us. Adam and Eve had to leave the garden for fear that they may eat of the tree of life. When enemy was able to convince Eve to touch and eat the fruit for that brief second I'm sure every animal want to scream out don't do it. All of the Earth watched in horror as the serpent who was most cunning was used by the adversary of Adonai to try to destroy everything He had created the previous six days. He thought he had succeeded that Adonai had a plan. A plan that will cause great pain to His heart but nonetheless His love for us is so deep that He gave His only Begotten Son so that who ever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life, John 3:16. Believing is just beginning for we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling Philippians 2:12. He reminded us of the importance of the Sabbath and to remember it in the 10 Commandments! It is the only appointed time mentioned in the 10 Commandments. All the appointed times it must be very important to Adonai! So let's celebrate and meet with the one who loves us so passionately us to provide a way out from the adversaries clutches! B'Shem Yeshua Hamashiach In His Love, Theresa |
