Nellie is scheduled to have a very delicate surgery done to repair an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. This is of great concern since she is as you all know, 73 years young.
Let me explain for those who are not familiar with these medical situations.
The largest blood vessel in the body is the aorta. This is main artery stemming from the heart. An AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) is the result of several risky factors but primarily due to age, second by genetics. She is encumbered by both.
This AAA is an enlargement of that vessel; the aorta. The vessel wall has thinned out and has expanded, much like when you apply pressure to the center of a ballon. A rupture of this AAA. may prove fatal.
This situation has been monitored for several years, with very minimal growth, but now it has enlarged enough to require concern. 5.1 centimeters in diameter to be exact.
I am asking you all, to find a moment of your time and give to this Lady who has been faithfully our mentor for so many years. She needs our love, concerns, and whatever help you may wish to give her. She is completely alone. We are her family...
