The Gift that Changes Everything

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Hi friends,
Have you pondered much about life in the hereafter? We tend to think of forever as a long, long time but it is not. Neither is it of short duration. It is infinite, or to put it more simply, it just is. In the realm of forever, time, as we know it, has no meaning.
This concept seems hard to grasp. How can something, anything, have no ending? But God trumps even that because He had no beginning either. He is, always was, and ever shall be.
Praise God, in His mercy and goodness He has sent us the Lord Jesus Christ so that we may live with Him for ever. Amen.
I am grateful beyond words for this, but the prospect does cause me to have some vexing questions. James said of the Father of Lights that in Him there is "no variableness, neither shadow of turning." (James 1:17) Will we become unchanging too when we cross the threshold and step into eternity? I hope not. Learning and growing in wisdom give us two solid reasons to anticipate tomorrow with joy. In fact, in this life every person we know is constantly changing. And the maturation process can be very exhilarating. But what will it be like in a place where time does not exist? I can not help but see things as one on this side of the Gates.
With the exception of God everyone we know will die. Mortality is a somber fact of life we Christians face like everyone else. Although contemplating our salvation makes it far more bearable, I do not think any healthy person wants to die. Much less, do we want anything to happen to our loved ones.
To that point, I think it is precisely the mortality of the people we love, more than anything else, which makes them so precious to us. Where would we be without the nourishment their love provides for us? How could we live without the necessary release of heartfelt love we express towards them?
Death makes life precious.
Therefore, it seems to me, when we reach the streets of gold by the rivers of living water, the nature of our love, one for another, must change. It will be very different to love someone when we know no evil can befall that person. Does that seem like a strange notion? Maybe it is. Perhaps I should just say, "who knows?" But scripture has a better answer. Paul said, "now I know in part but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1 Cor. 13:12)
Love, your brother in Christ,
David
When you reach the end of your rope
you will find the hem of His garment.
I have often felt that many things that bring us to our knees,
teach us while we are down there to learn to pray.
These possibilities are open to everyone.
Don't tell God you are not good enough, do what He asks.
Don't tell God to send someone else, He asked you.
Don't tell God you don't have time to pray, He said seek me first.
Don't neglect the things of God. He said we are to
pick up His cross daily and follow Him.
Don't tell God anything is bigger than His ability.
God is the Great I Am, I am whatever you need.
There is no pit so deep, God's love is not deeper still.
Not my will but thine oh Lord.
