Fading Away

Psalm 1:2 "But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in His law doth he meditate day and night."
Hi friends,
This afternoon while I was driving down a country road I passed a hotel which was once a top flight resort. In its heyday it was a great honeymoon spot. You could go there to play tennis, ice skate, ski, golf, see shows, and rest comfortably. The grounds were and still are exquisite. But something sad has happened. The place has become very rundown . Some of the road signs for the hotel are covered with graffiti. The multi-colored light fixtures in front of the main buildings have faded so that they are but pale imitations of what they used to be. Paint is peeling from the sides of the buildings, and the wood paneling appears splintery and old. The cottages which are part of the complex are boarded and rotting. The nets on the tennis courts are sagging and the paved roads on the property are filled with ruts and pits. There are very few visitors.
Recently I spoke about the place to a long time resident of the area who came to my house to install blinds. He said it was now owned by a son of the original owner who did not care very much for the business.
Friends, as I drove by I had an intense thought: If we stop reading scripture; if we stop going to church; if we stop listening to great preaching and teaching; if we stop praying...our relationship with the Lord will decay too. We can not afford to let this happen. No one should be casual about his faith. God never turns His back on us. It is we who turn ours on Him. Keep your faith whole and pure. Read scripture every day and meditate on what you read. Pray! Put the Lord first in your life...ahead of your family..ahead of your job..ahead of yourself. Then you will be blessed beyond measure. (See Psalm 1)
Love, Your brother in Christ,
David
