Strange dream I had.

In the dream a cousin I haven't seen for eons, had found and given me an "Oboe"........only in the dream, I called it an oboe, but it was really like a "fife".....a tubular small musical instrument that the Civil War soldiers (back in 1864) used predominantly as they went into battle to entertain themselves.

........................

The dream starts with this "oboe" or fife. After he gave it to me someone told me it was valuable, approx worth about $600.00.   Then I realized after I told my cousin, and he said it was found on Government property, near Gettysburg Pa.
that it's value was probably, "uncalculable", over the top, over $500,000.00.

So I essentially had in my possession, an extremely valuable "instrument"....with an unknown and incalculable value.

I felt very fortunate, but yet very apprehensive because the government people, (like a branch of governemnt) had to come to my house to see me after hearing I had such an instrument.

It was a branch of government that always recorded every type of find , serial numbers, a photo, and just an entry of what it was.

I hit the valuable instrument in a closet.

When they came to my house I realized then that they not only wanted to record this, but they also wanted to see it and photograph it.  There were 3 people, but 2 of them were quite young.

When I said "well, I don't think I have it here"......but knowing I hid it in the closet, on a shelf.  I said you can feel free to look around.,which they did and they opened that particular closet, looked around and didn't see this valuable item at all.,sitting right there.

So I went to the closest and said, "look you missed it, it was right here all along"...........and they seemed relieved, and looked at it, in a box.

As they were looking and jotting down information about it, I suddenly realized that they had not a clue as to what they were looking at, no appreciation for the fact that this was an extremely valuable item from the Civil War days......something with immense value which could or should be in a museum.

They simply jotted down info. and left.....

that's all I recall....

INTERPRETATION:

.....................As I related this dream to my husband, he pointed out that it probably stemmed from our recent everyday conversations about the   "Value" systems in America, valuing more the Anna Nicole story then the dead young soldiers in Iraq, which is more a "given" and their lives & deaths seem so small as newsworthy in comparison with a flashy model and her untimely death.  So we've been discussing lately the 'Values' of America.

In the dream, the symbol of this small item , a musical item which is not an oboe (I don't know what I thought that name when I first was given it)........is that it was "Priceless", as I feel about Spiritual gifts, spiritual knowledge, and faith in the miraculous.

I knew I was given something of immense wealth (spiritually).....and just as Jesus warned "Beware not to give pearls to swine, less the trample them".........I was careful not to give to the government, my "value or gift" which I tried to hide from them.

As they opened the closest to find the box I said may be around, with the item, and they Missed it entirely, I realized the "youthful image of the two of them", was WHY they couldn't see what was right before their eyes and missed it.

So, the souls that are younger ones perhaps, can't and don't normally realized beautiful and priceless things right before them.

When they photographed & jotted notes, while holding it in their hands, still they didn't realize what they had.

....................................................................................................

I suppose in some ways, it could be seen as a message to me type of dream from my higher self, that the War in Iraq, the young people there, fighting for an unjustified war, and the fact that most people in this country, still will buy and believe was is not true, instead, missing the true spiritual importances of brotherhood for all.........is and has been very upsetting for me.
The fact this gift from the "Civil War", may be seen on many levels, and the symbol of "Governement" as well.

Values, Government, Spiritual Gifts were are part of the rich symbology of this dream.

And as the Gospel of Thomas points out, (see the Philosophy Message Board if interested), Jesus often said,

"He with ears better hear," or "He with eyes should see", then is how this dream strikes me.
