i thought id talk about flying dreams.
ive had these quite alot of times, i cant remember one whole story off my head but its quite strange to have this actually occur when dreaming.i say this because often dreams can use places and objects that are familiar to a person in waking life.but of course flying isnt something we experience on a daily basis! my flying dreams feel so natural that when i wake up i feel like im almost handicapped.
its like flying in a dream is an instinct ,just like when we move our limbs.when you want to walk its easy, we just think about getting up and walking.its exactly the same when in the dream state and wanting to fly,i just think i want to move up or down and it happens just like a walking instinct.

its really funny cos when ive had flying dreams often after ive woken up ive wanted to go back to that dream state again,

hmm i found this on the web on the subjet of these types of dreams:

this would suggest im close to being able to or actually activly participating in lucid dreaming?
i admit their is a level of control in my dreams, but i never thought i was a lucid dreamer, maybe i am capable without knowing it? i figured it was normal to be able to control certain aspects of dreams? i dont mean so much the locations but more my own well being ,control over my own movements.

my mother & Ralph both, have flying dreams.

Of course my mom is dead now, but she & Ralph use to compare notes....about them, and I always felt rather left out, not knowing what they were about, how they felt, or the sensation.

I hear they are very uplifting....(more then the pun)in that you are completely free, and free moving.,without any boundaries put on you.

It must be wonderful to experience.

I use to tell Ralph to come  get me, the next time he thinks of it, in the flying dream, (kind of like Peter Pan would come & get Wendy and her brother to take them flying ........

I wish I  had them too.

Ralph thinks that it's just part of our being (two halves), and apparently my half does other stuff, while his half does all the fun things.

I posted on a Link some Free Online Books I found, and one of them, is the famous first account of Conscious Astral Travel by Robert Monroe.

He started the Monroe Institute in Virginia, (he's dead now too), but he was the first one, who in this country made Astral Travel a keyword and bravely "went where only the brave would dare" and wrote about it.

You might like to download that book , OR, just read it here (online)

Books one & two are here on the General Board:
"Journeys Out of the Body"

here is a Bio of Mr Monroe:

2)       Astral projection - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Robert Monroe describes this type of projection as a projection to "Locale I" .... Wikipedia® is a registered trademark of the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., ...

Here's a cute story of a young man who went to the Monroe Institute to try & learn how to "astral Project"......and his experiences while there: (kind of funny)

(not sure what this is all about, as I read the book (his original books) back in the 70s, when I first married & Ralph was experiencing, these "out of body" episodes......at night.

Other then the original books ,I never really got into this too much, but it's interesting, that even now that Mr. Monroe is gone, (died in 1995), his work he started, scientific remote viewing, etc is still going strong.

The Techiniques they teach however, can probably be learned, simply by reading these two books, I've put here, the Far Journeys, and "Out of Body " (2 books) should have in them all you would need for the techniques.

thanks deb,
i did some research and i saw something else aswell ,a book by a guy called albert taylor, its called soul traveller.there is an interview on art bells show where albert talks about his experiences and gives info on what type of sounds and feelings are present before an obe. i think i may have had an obe ,but only one.

this occured when i was younger ,ive been trying to understand what on earth happened that night ever since.the dream was so vivid and real ,it wasnt like one of my regular dreams, after i awoke again i tried to get my head around what happened and i was both frightened and confused. i think i stayed awake for a long time afterwards.

the experience started as i was falling asleep i cant remember how? but i know that it was at a time when i was ill.
what happened was i got out of bed or exited my bed and went across the hall,my bedroom door was always open at night when i was little. i walked across the landing where the light was on and into my sisters room.somewhere between when i went out of my room and was in rachels room some strange figures appeared.
this is when i got frightened.these figures were taller than me and made up entirely of crystal like glass? they were a type of see-thru like crystal people.but they didnt have the shape of a person ,their upper body was more like a huge complex diamond shape and their limbs were made up into diamond like geometric shapes. i paniced while in my sisters room i think i may have even called out to my sister who was sleeping only 6 feet away from me. i was standing next to the door and for some reason i tried turning on the light switch ,i cant remember if i did or didnt but i then dashed out of the room and downstairs into my mum and dads room.in here i hid.and after that i cant remember much,im not sure if i put my head down to sleep or if i walked back out of the room and back up to my bed?

i dont think i woke any of my family that night.when i was back in my bed and awake,i tried to figure what on earth happened?
i knew it wasnt a regular dream, everything apart from those figures was exactly how i saw it in real life, nothing else unusual or out of place.normally my dreams are made up of places and scenarios that dont make sense in the real world there will be things that shift and change and i can make that distinction when i awake and say to myself "ah i was only dreaming" because there were things that were out of place.if it was a regular dream i had that night then something out of the ordinary would have happened ,for instance when i went downstairs perhaps an elephant would be walking about in the hall or something really random like that! and when i went into a room if it was a regular dream
it would have swiched and morphed to another place.all of my dreams do this.all my normal dreams are also alot more extravagant and they last alot longer, this experince was short and detailed.

so i figured perhaps i had sleepwalked and been asleep while walking around the house,(i used to sleepwalk alot when i was young.)
and it was a mixture of me being asleep but with my eyes open ,so i saw everything correctly in detail around me but with dream elements coming into it aswell (the geometric crystal people.).it didnt make sense but i figured it must have been that?
i didnt know what obe's were when i was young, infact i have never really looked into them since recently.and it was when albert taylor mentioned translucent people.that it suddenly provided an explanation for the experience i had that night.

I had looked into Robert Monroe's book back in the 70s, because Ralph use to do the "early stages".......of what he describes in the book.
This was how I eventually came to know what it was, and that it even had a name.

He too (Ralph) as a child, use to see things, and experience odd things....from voices mumbling, to the constant, OOB type of seperations that Monroe speaks about, as the "technique"....to travel.

But, that was long long ago.

Nowadays, (the past 36 years)he simply from time to time, is heard in his room, (we keep seperate rooms), at night; "moaning, and occassionally" reports, calling out to me, via the same catatonic type of state....but it's much more rare now.

We simply believed in not forcing it, although interested in it, the writings, (from the 70s & 80s), said, that 'over time" the mind will experience a kind of natural type of seperation (mind from body), that it was a natural phenomenon that is part & parcel of "nature"......to do this, as one grows in consciousness, hence, nothing to be afraid of.

I know Ralph never truly got over the fear part however, so he doesn't try to force the experience ever.

But in Monroe's books, he DID force the experience, and "went out" in OOB travel at least a few times a week, (if not more)......and there is a "whole" astral world to visit & experience, BUT, I'd read the books and take the definite tips to avoid the problems that can occur from same.,IF experimenting.

My elementary understanding, is nothing can harm you, as your physical body is attuned already, (subconsciously),to "pull you back".........in a split second, (meaning you cannot die, prior to your allotted TIME"...........as my mom use to tell me. "we each have a time allotted to us".

So that's no worry, ...............

But then again, are we consciously prepared for what we may see in these other realms??...........

It's for each person to decide for themselves.

Interesting subject, but I know that Ralph himself, didn't take up the trips that Monroe did.

so I cannot report from 2nd hand or even 1st hand experience.
We are too "timid" I suppose to have pursued it consciously,...

I think since you brought it up, now I'm interested againso I'll probably be reading along with you, his book.
I'm now on page 9 (which begins the actual technique), as the first 8 pages just tell you about the background of Monroe, (a businessman), and his writer, (a millionaire), and how "stable & proficient" they are. trying to let people know, I suppose, that they aren't just "quacks".......

But starting at page 9 it gets into it a bit......the actual beginning of the proven in laboratory OOBs they started to test & do in the 70s...

I'll probably also dig out Robert Monroe's natal chart and post eventually on this thread too......as I have it somewhere.

Maybe , I'll even take an OOBE to England?
as it's too expensive these days to take the trip via air & travel, perhaps I'll see England, via the OOBE (as a target place)  instead, if I learn something here.

Happy Reading!

well i can can definatly sympathise with ralph, it scared the absolute crap out of me when that actually happened and i saw those geometric crystal people,so much that everytime i feel im falling into a similar phase i immediatly 'snap out' of it.

like last night for example just before going to sleep and when i was still, had my eyes closed .i got this musical vibrating tone sound in my head and just as i felt myself slipping away i jumped awake again.i know for a fact that my dreams rarely have sound in them ,thats one thing that is always disctinctive about my dreams, they are only visual.no sound apart from the occasional voice and maybe like if the dream featured music there would be sound (the sounds that are meant to be symbolic) other sounds like you would hear in everyday life dont really exist in my dreams, only things im meant to hear as part of the dream message.so when i got this musical tone i immediatly jumped and woke up fully again.

after i woke up i thought to myself that probably was the onset of a potential obe? i remembered what albert taylor said about how vibrating sounds ,musical tones ,static electricity sounds are usually one of the early stages of the mind going towards an obe state.
ive had the static electric/loud crackling sound before aswell and that freeked me out so much that i nearly jumped bolt upright in my bed!!

maybe i'll pluck up the courage to try it out willingly one day, the one time that it did happen i think wasnt planned ,because i was unwell and i was more lethargic and less alert so i wasnt quite as able to snap out of it. but i am curious ,yes. and curiousity quite often gets the better of me lol.
i'll definatly read about it and research the subject though.
