I dreamt last night (just prior to awakening this morning).....so the last dream; that Ralph & I went to Israel, the pre-trip to Egypt that I've been wanting to do now for years, but still haven't done.

This was a strange dream which I think means nothing other then is reflecting the really bad feelings we took away from Italy.  The Italy trip was nice insofar, as we had a terrifically fun group on tour with us ,  a larger then normal group of 45 (including us)...
Everyone was really nice, and we met a lot of fun people......no real grouches and had a great time with them at our dinners and other places like the Farm house , Winery, and other places where the group eats & drinks together including farewell dinners & other parties.
So the group was great!! Better then expected  by a long shot.

The sites, like Pompeii (the Volcanic ruins) were awesome too.

The trip to Capri, the island was pretty, and it even hailed (sleeted) one day in Sorrento.

The main problem was the people or the culture of Italy which seemed mostly "unaccomodating"......almost like people weren't really welcomed from other countries like America, but rather were "tolerated".

That then gave us a bad feeling and coloured the trip.

Like one day we heard of one older woman being chased out of a bathroom by an owner of a shop because she didn't buy anything
even though her mate (another woman) did........and didn't use the facilities.
People also there do not hand you the change when you make a purchase, like they don't want to touch you.

It "seemed" to us that everyone just wanted our business, having their hand out for money, even to use toilets there.......they wanted money many places.

It's hard to put my finger on, - not sure but I think the reason is that the culture itself, has evolved to a "we are fine everyone isn't" type of attitude. Taking much pride in knowing "how to live".......but not being accomodating to their fellow man (outside of Italy much)

Hard to explain, but I know a lot of people came away with the same "feeling".....

I DID however, meet a few friendly (very friendly and nice people, who lived in Italy), and they were all guys, around 25-30. Accomodating, willing to give advice and a smile.
That helped.

Anyway, here (Italy)  is the reason I had this dream then of unfriendly Israel?

I dreamt that we were to go on a Grand Circle Tour of Israel, just like I've been wanting to do now for 2 years but haven't yet.
First off- Ralph is very hesitant, as he doesn't like Israel's politics and especially as regards the Palestinians.

But I think he's finally agreed to go this year when the next big sale roles around to Egypt, (the pre-trip to Israel for 5 days)

In this dream, we went to Israel, (making all the plane accomodations and schedules ourselves), as we do anyway, to New York each time we travel.
But this time, we took a plane straight to Israel, instead of using Grand Circles tour.
We made a mistake, and in the dream I realized we "forgot" to call GCT tours.,and took a plane there ourselves.

Upon arrival, and approaching the GATE to the city, where the checkpoint is , I turned around looking for Ralph and he was "lying on the ground face down"...... I panicked, and ran over to him saying, "Oh my god, what's wrong here?? we don't have any insurance Ralph, what are we going to do, if you can't make it??"

He looked up and said, he was okay, but was upset with me for giving away a small picture something I didn't even realize I had on me......and apparently had lost.

Anyway, we were with two other people, (maybe my daughters?) or some young women.
I went thru the GATE and to pay the Visa fee.....and was astonished they wanted $600.00 to get in.
I was shocked & upset, as we hadn't expected this at all!

Usually a Visa is about $20. cash.......at the check in places, where there is a Visa required. But $600.00??
The two girls with me were shocked & upset too., but we had no choice but to pay the charge.

Then, as we were walking around the old city, up & down hills, people were friendly enough......and I liked the surrounding city.
BUT, I was still upset when I realized we "forgot" to book the Grand Circle Tour, and instead, were completely on our own, not knowing what to do, where to stay (hotel wise) or even how to see everything we wanted to see.
It was confusion then.,not to mention I kept counting that $600.00 Visa and told some woman about it, and her friends, and they said, "Oh  we know they do that, it's supposed to be $400. and they just change it whenever they feel like it"

They also told us that it was for one way only!! and that it would cost ANOTHER $600.00 to leave the country!! OMG - was I so upset........now we were in hock for $1800.00 (not counting Ralph, just me & the 2 girls)....and double that was $3600. and I felt responsible for their costs as it was nothing they had signed up for.
All my doings, so I wanted to pay it (their share too)

Now, I was thinking, okay, the bill is alreading approaching $5,000.AND we have no hotel and no tours scheduled.
So I saw a woman who was sitting next to a sign, "Bargain Tours" or something akin to this.
I told her of my plight, that we needed to see all the holy sites, and needed a driver & a hotel.......she said she'd work on it for us.

that's all I remember...........

.................................................................................................
Interp: obviously, the bad feelings we kept, about how the Italian culture treated people, (all about money), hardly any friendliness (overall); was the impetus for this dream, esp. being "Overpriced" (the Visa)charge, because in many ways, I kept saying that everything in Italy was overpriced.
(about double what Americans would pay).........
but that's the Euro - compared to the dollar.

I'm still going to Israel!BUT I know now to check the price of a Visa first.....

This says  there is NO charge for a visa to Israel, no fee!

What's up? why did I dream of $600. each way, (in and out?)

still in a quandary over this one.
