"I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. " John 16:12 Commentary
There were still many other things the Lord had to tell the disciples, but they could not take them in. This is an important principle of teaching. There must be a certain progress in learning before advanced truths can be received. The Lord never overwhelmed His disciples with teaching. He gave it to them "line upon line, precept upon precept." The work which the Lord began was to be continued by the Spirit of truth. He would guide them into all truth.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12 What Jesus meant of course is that following him, means living as he lived in his footsteps (as a metaphor), trying to follow his pattern, his example. Then, you will have and attain "the Light of life" and not need to be reborn again on this plane. The darkness he spoke of is here. |

"Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit." Gospel of John 3.7: Jesus words
