Quotes of Sri Yukteswar

Sri Yukteswar 2

Sri Yukteswar -
Selected Sayings

"Ordinary love is selfish, darkly rooted in desires and satisfactions. Divine love is without condition, without boundary, without change. The flux of the human heart is gone forever at the transfixing touch of pure love."

(From Autobiography of A Yogi Chapter 10)

"The Virture of Love the Heart’s natural love is the principal requisite to attain a holy life. When this love, the heavenly gift of Nature, appears in the heart, it removes all causes of excitation from the system and cools it down to a perfectly normal state; and, invigorating the vital powers, expels all foreign matters- the germs of diseases-by natural ways (perspiration and so forth). It thereby makes man perfectly healthy in body and mind, And enables him to understand properly the guidance of Nature. "

From: The Holy Science by Sri Yukteswar

" When this love becomes developed in man it makes him able to understand the real position of his own Self as well as of others surrounding him "

From: The Holy Science by Sri Yukteswar

"The eight bondages or snares are hatred, shame, fear, grief, condemnation, race prejudice, pride of family and smugness. Removal of the eight bondages leads to magnanimity of the Heart. "

From: The Holy Science by Sri Yukteswar

Sri Yukteswar discussion with Yogananda

Sri Yukteswar: "Mukunda (Yogananda's boyhood name), why don't you get an astrological armlet?"

Yogananda: "Should I, Master? I don't believe in astrology."

Sri Yukteswar: "It is never a question of belief; the only scientific attitude one can take on any subject is whether it is true. The law of gravitation worked as efficiently before Newton as after him. The cosmos would be fairly chaotic if its laws could not operate without the sanction of human belief."

From: Autobiography of A Yogi Chapter 16

He was an Astrologer, a Guru and mentor of the boy who became Yogananda.

I think I'll explore his personality through his Natal Chart:

Here is Yogananda's natal chart (his student):

See his North Node (Rahu) in the 9th house of wisdom and Intellectual discourse, the higher mind; in the 5th degree of Taurus; which put his South Node (Ketu) into the 3rd house of the baser lower mind, (everyday thoughts).conjunct to Uranus.(no doubt in a very high vibratory medium)....

Here is the original thread I started a few years back on this man:

From Jeff Green's book " Pluto ", "The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul", I learned that Swami Sri Yukteswar said the following, and I share it here , as one of  the most profound statements  I've ever  heard in just 3 sentences .
Swami Sri Yukteswar, was Yogananda's Teacher and guru:

he said:

" A child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematic harmony with  his  individual karma.

His horoscope is a challenging portrait, revealing his unalterable past, and it's probable future result.

But the natal chart can be rightly interpreted only by men of intuitive wisdom; and these are few."

Who he was: (rumored to have been St. Francis of Assisi  in a prior life).......
