DIRECTOR, SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS
Astellas Pharma Canada is currently searching for a Director of Scientific Affairs. Reporting to Hiro Ozaki, President of Astellas Pharma Canada, Inc. (APCA), the successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
<DIR> <DIR> Organizational planning of the Astellas Canada clinical R&D program in coordination with the President, APCA R&D staff and Astellas drug development teams to meet local marketing needs in Phase 3b and 4 studies and to support product development in Phase 2 & 3 studies. Oversees all phases of product development at APCA (phase 2-4).
Supports Sales and Marketing and corporate objectives for marketed products. Interacting with Astellas Global Clinical Development Management to determine project needs for Canada and promote Canadian role for international clinical trials.
Overseeing all technical and scientific personnel and clinical programs.
Overseeing the Medical Information functions for Astellas Canada.
Supporting the development of liaison with opinion leaders, leading clinicians and scientists.
Management of R & D expenses and overseeing research plans for relevant therapeutic areas

The key skills and experience required include:
<DIR> Doctorate degree (MD, PH.D.) preferred.
Minimum 10 years experience in research and development in the proprietary pharmaceutical industry and in clinical research management required.
Full knowledge of ICH guidelines and TPD clinical trial regulations, guidelines and policies and an ability to provide interpretation for others. Ability to evaluate current scientific trends.
Ability to plan and manage large projects and provide drug development guidance to direct reports, clinical and medical information staff, APCA staff and Astellas (international) staff.
Excellent people management skills required.
Bilingual (English/French) an asset.
