Yes well the last time we "updated" our personal computer I went to the pawn shop and found something I could just drop a new C: into. The thing of spending 2000 green backs for a machine that will be outdated in no less than four years doesn't set well with me...
 
Outdated test equipment? I don't know if I consider my oscilloscope as being outdated even though it is. I wounder if todays techs are a little spoiled? I still calculate T=R(C) to the fifth place past the decimal and find the signal I'm looking for.
Guessing that is good enough for me.
 
I did find the radio I mentioned ( 10/11D) and took a photo. I think I'll do a before and after message of some kind. It looks a bit rough but has the original frequency counter and microphone.
