Starsinger Tower was a lot larger on the inside than it appeared from the outside. The sturdy, squat, dark steel building looked as if it were designed by dwarves. This was in fact, the truth. The sixty foot high tower itself was not ornate, and didn't boast any fancy stonework or bas relief carvings, but was very similar to a plain chesspiece known as a Rook. It didn't even appear to have any windows or arrow slits, though they were present. The only visible opening was a set of wide, banded, black steel double doors without any type of doorbell or knocker.

From outside, one could glimpse the four, black steel gargoyles that perched on the tower's battlements, one facing each direction of the compass. The gargoyles were man-sized, and it looked as if they were each clad in fitted, adamantine armor. Woven in and out of the crenellations of the top of the tower was a long, black, snake-like thing. It was scaled and yet, had glossy black feathers, too. It ended in a very large, sharp-looking stinger...like one might discover at the end of a scorpion's tail. The end was swishing lazily over the roof's edge, dangling down about seven or eight feet. It actually belonged to Arienne's pet -- a Sithican wyvern named Spyke. Spyke had claimed the top of Starsinger Tower as his nest, and the elven maiden who lived there had no problem with that...he helped guard the outside and he was far too large to keep him inside, so the arrangement worked out well.

When the double doors opened and one entered the grand hall of the Tower, it became apparent that the building was somehow magically enhanced or enchanted. The rooms soared and were filled with exotic red and black or black and violet tapestries. The main table was a solid slab of black marble, surrounded by black iron-worked chairs with red velvet cushions. Near the large main fireplace were a couple of low, glass and black iron end tables, separated by a long, low grey suede couch. In front of the couch was another glass and black iron coffee table. Two other doors marked where the kitchen and one of Arienne's study rooms was located. At regular points along the walls of the main room were sconces which held glowing, violet orbs of Fairie Fire.

Still looking about he apologizes. So sorry. I am too old for my own good I'm afraid. What is this little anchor for? I don't believe I know any of you.

*Shrugs* Any ally of this House's Mistress should recieve my full respect.

He bows at the waist while seated. Is there anything I can do for you? I sense an air of seriousness about you.

The delicate Queen chirped softly at Arienne, snuggling her body a bit closer. She'd been reassured by her thoughts and that was what Rashwen needed most at that time.

Then Lockheed joined them, and she preened herself, being certain the enery scale was in place. Lifting her head she tilted it slightly. Her red gold eyes studied her mate. She tried to send a thought to him, knowing Arienne could hear as well. ~Lockheed-mate understand Rashwen now? Rashwen knows we need nest-build. In Arienne's  how, Ari knows spot to build." Then she tilted her head as she asked the question that a wrong answer to could send her into grieving, comethat could not happen for the younglings sake. ~Lockheed stay with Rashwen?"

Lockheed rounded the corner of the doorwasy's opening. HE grined wide seeing everyone he was looking for all in one safe area.

He flew closer pulling a loop and a series of his happy chirps.

Now the odd thing is is that he quickly nods his head to answer Rash. But he can only communicate with her thru his body language. It's as if he understands the gist of what she's thinkning. (Empathy)

His vocal patterns are odd and unitelligible to Rash. But he lands next to her and nuzzles her chin. He sniffs curiously and moves to her tummy. Entwining his neck in hers Lockheed purrs with the newfound joy of what had become.

Amagato grins slightly. Seems he can understand everything. And Everyone can understand him (toungues/comp lang)

Yes little Rashwen, Lockheed can stay with you to sire your brood. But as my close and dear friend he will have to accompany me on more than one occasion. Each time will be dangerous and long. He is mighty and his responsibilites are large.

You will have to be, both, a strong and independent mother. I do not fear for you or your clutch. You have many good folk that care deeply for you. With such friends and allies you shall never wont for long.

Upon the day of laying I shall want to speak a small verse of Blessings and Luck unto your nest if you will allow. But for now we must insure other measures are in place so that the many can enjoy the same safety that we speak of.

Arienne looked at Raven and gave a slow nod of her graceful head. "The herbs and components I can readily supply, my friend, but I am very low on potions. I have not made any in awhile, since I have been fighting, and the last battle depleted my reserve stock." Her face grew thoughtful. "I can perhaps start brewing some tonight, but it will take me the rest of the evening, and I will need your help, Raven. If you are determined to use the astral couch, then you will not be available. I can make two batches of healing potions, but they will not be ready before sun-down, two days from now. Am I to understand that you wish to leave before then?"

Turning to Amagato, she asked him, "What skills and spells will you need from me? I would like to create a mythal and put it into place as soon as possible, so that we might at least rest a bit easier while planning strategies to deal with our foes. If I know in advance what will be needed and expected, I can plan better."

Lastly, she regarded Rashwen and Lockheed and couldn't contain her smile of pride for her familiar. She sent a mental thought to both of the small psuedodragons: You are both welcome to stay as long as you like and I would be honored to help protect your brood. I would be willing to bet that I can help make your nest quite comfortable and inviting. And when Lockheed must help Amagato, Rashwen, I will be here to help you in the interim.

Chaelynn having kept her thoughts silenced for respect of her elders looks to Master Raven . "Master, what phase is the moon rising in this night. For best dream travel would be the new moon, otherwise called Diania's Bow."

Amagato mused over the bit of irony in the good lady's question. She was always so helpful and selfless. He liked her and the Raven more with each experience.

Using a bit of molecular agitation he slouches a bit (failed, try again) wincing slightly his cooled tea heats and begins to give off steam again,

What I require is completely dependent upon what is asked for. If you desire a magical dead zone then we shall have to research the aiming of a rift conduit. If you all decide a physical barrier is prudent then we shall look forming the Rift's energies into an item or maybe a catalyst. Essentially there are no limitations aside from Time itsefl and our own mortality. Such wide city sweeping spells, as those I've considered, will both be long hard, dangerouse and costly.

His speech is slow but you hear it as clear as your own lang or dialect (as toungues) As an afterthought he looks to Raven over the tea. His eyes are small and slitted. Each sprouts a many toed crowes foot from it's corner making them appear even more as slanted cuts in his face.  The pupil that's visible is a golden hue. Each center is perfectly clear and untouched by age. There is no cloudiness or fade, only the deep infinite sharp edges. Looking into them it's as if you can just tell he knows some things about the world.

If you wish to locate your tower, or at least what may be left of it, we can narrow down the planes if I had a piece of it. With some craft I can learn a great many things in a short span of time. If you like...I wish only to aid

The  tiny red dragon purred in contentment as her mate twined his neck with hers. Once they seperated she stayed in Ari's lap, while she gave Lockheed a gentle nudge to the armchair. ~Rashwen good Mother. Rashwen first clutch two younglings, both grow well. Honored One welcome to bless eggs.Lockheed stay until nest built, eggs laid, yes?~ She tipped her head inquistitively.

Rashwen turned the full force of her gently whirling eyes on her Bondmate. There was a difference there now. ~ Help make magic stuff.~ Her voice was strong and clear once more, as though something had clicked inside of her.

It was the final full acceptance of her role as Arienne's companion. More then a Familar because the bond was willing accepted without the coertion of magic of any type. Rashwen could almost feel how the weave flowed between them so easily.  This was the rarest type of mage/companion, one made only of mutual love and respect for each other.

Inside Arienne's Tower.

Meanwhie, amiss all the going-on's inside the tower, the brothers staied just off to the side, sitting on the floor, near one of the big windows nearby.  Ian had been quiet since taking this mission, and Shawn began to wonder if he was really ready to accept the loss of another "family member" even though Angel and he were only god brother and sister, she, Raja and he were the best of friends.  He looked after her swaring that he would keep her safe after the death of his twin by the hands of the dark knight all those years ago, but now he failed again at that.  But to this day, he swares his new power of thought, can hear her voice telling him to be strong.

Aonian kind of drifted off into a light nap, while he sat there leanning on the wall with the hilt of his longsword resting on his shoulder.  Shawn sat next to him in silent meditation as he prepared for the upcomming fight.  While in this dream, Aonian is sitting on a plateau, just like he did when he was a kid, but he isn't alone.  A woman, just about as tall as he is, but she wears a long forest green and white dress with flowing reddish brown hair and a flower tiara in it, sits next to him.

<Woman in dream> " You know I miss our days like this."

<Ian in dream> " Yeah, and I just miss you.  Gosh I wish I could bring you back."

<Woman> " Yeah, but the fates had things in mind that we can't control. Melikki knew what he was doing when she did what she did.  I am where I am suppose to be, and that is in your heart always my brother."

<Ian> " Sis, you have know idea how hard it was for me to get over your loss.  I blamed myself for it for a long time."

<Raja> " But you moved on, and became stronger.  My death wasn't an accident, it was ment to be to protect the seal, you know that."

<Ian> " That doesn't mean I had to like it."

<Raja> "Sometimes things happen that aren't what we like.  Look my brother, I know things are hard for you. I mean loosing all your family, your friends, but you have a new brother, and he is there to help you. Let him.  You to are a family now.  Don't forget, Shawn has lost everyone close to him too.  His girlfriend, his sister, his brother in law, even his own pet.  Just as you lost Voronwier, he has lost Shiva. But you took the bond, you made him one of you, and together you two must trimuph."

<Ian> " Oh Raja, if it wasn't for this amulet, I would have lost you forever too.  If you weren't with me, even in spirit, I would have died years ago.  I just wish you were with me for real."

Meanwhile, Shawn had woke from his meditation, and looked at Ian, and could tell that he was sleeping.  He was somber, but something else caught his attention, it was one tear.  One solitary tear fell down his nose, and just hung there on his cheek.  Shawn couldn't tell what he was dreaming, but he was certain of one thing, that Ian was depressed alittle, and he didn't know what to do about it, except be there for the lonely elf now.

<Ian> " Oh Raja, I can not help but wonder how things would have been if you were still with me"

<Raja> " I know my brother, but just remember, I am never far away, just a simple prayer.  I love you forever."

<Ian> " And I will never forget you, forever."

Raven nods to Arienne, understanding her reasoning for being out of potions. He rubs his chin and then speaks... "I did not plan on going Arienne. I am in no shape to go on adventures, instead I was planning on sending Diedra, Shawn, Ian, and Chaelynn. It should be a simple trek once we locate the tower. In the meantime, I will be staying here to aid you and Amagato in creating the Mythal. A spell that complicated will need all our skills combined." He then reaches into his pouch at his side and pulls out an Ivory Key... "I was going to send this with them. It is the Master Key to the Ivory Tower. With this they can open any door within it, even the vaults." He looks to Amagato for a moment... "Perhaps we can also use this to locate the tower, since it is a part of it." He nods to the old man and slides the key across the table top to him. "I only pray that the tower is in good enough shape to retrieve the Ancint Key, and tomes from it. If not...  dont want to think what will happen to us all."
He then hears Chaelynns voice in his mind, and turns to her. Patience my dear... we still have figure out which dimension it might have slipped into before we can useyour skills. However the New Moon is only a couple days away, which may give us time to track it before you pinpoint its exact location. He gives her a wink... Why dont you get to know the others a little. Learn each others skills, and abilities as best you can. Only by working together will you succeed.

Chaelynn nods with a small shy smile. "Yes My teacher your wisdom knows best for this group. Understanding as you are; you are aware of the difficulty for me in groups. My only other skill is with my dagger's and that of course comes with a very unpleasant history. A dark history many would not trust or understand, often leaves me shunned and has always left me alone . " She bows her head low as she says;" Are there any words of wisdom you could offer this lowly apprentice."

Arienne bowed her head in thought for a moment and then looked at Amagato. "I would like to create a mythal such as was seen in the ancient sylvan city of Myth Drannor, but would like the added effects of keeping out anything and anyone of evil nature." Her intelligent blue eyes showed apprehension. "A physical barrier would be most effective in keeping out enemies, but it would likewise keep out possible allies. Any magical barrier would also have to allow for magics cast inside of it. I realize that in creating such a thing, there would likely be magical dead areas, as well. That is one of the side-effects of such a powerful creation, unfortunately."

She paused and drank from her goblet, then set it down and rested her hands upon the tabletop. "For what I am asking, it would seem that we would also require Siannodell's assistance. She knows much of protections from evil and clerical magic of that ilk. However, I know very little about combining both types of the arcane and have no idea of what would come from such a combination."

Arienne turned her attention to Raven, watching as he withdrew the key to his missing tower and slid it toward the wu-jen. "Raven, once you send your party to retrieve the tower, I think the three of us and Siannodell should go examine the rift to gain as much information about it as quickly as possible, so that we might begin creation of the mythal as soon as can be managed. I have some of the ancient grimoires that I retrieved from the city. They give much information of the spells used, though we will likely need to change them a bit."

The sorceress smiled again as she heard Rashwen speak in her mind. Yes, love, I will need your help in the days to come, but do not wish you to tax yourself. You need to save your strength for the birthing which will be upon you soon enough, my sweet. Have no worries, I will let you know when I need your strength and magical help, dear Rashwen. She observed the others in the room and thought to herself what a strange mix of individuals had gathered.

Amagato listens calmly and sips at his hot tea.

When Raven slides the item to him he begins to study it. It's shape, it's design, it's characteristics and possible meanings. He sets it against a thousand years of knowledge and quickly begins to understand the basics of it.

Lifting it mentally it rises in front of his golden pupils hovering slowly. The key spins gently in midair as he examines it.

His eyes close as he raises his hands to it like it was a campfire.

This is an item of of light. It was made in the heart of a healer and it seeks a place safe from the dark. Safe from the Weremacht. Safe from th Shadow Lord and thier wars.

He opens his eyes, he looks to them all. The tower is intact. It is hidden, it is safe. Only those of pure heart shall be able to walk the path to it.

Have them travel the gray waste White Raven. There they shall find the guardian.

The guardian shall tell the next chapter.

After resting a bit he thinks to himself and looks to Arienne. We can create an area devoid of magic. No arcane shall operate there...including yours. Is this the wish of you all? If so I shall begin researching it immediately.

You are wise to understand that most any barrier would be a universal deterrent affecting everyone from locals to the natural animals.

It will be easiest to modify spells already in your repertoire. Any magical spell on parchment I can alter into a more powerful version. It will take all of your help to cast it tho. Any assistance with the studying process will speed things along also. Many minds are better than one

Lockheed filled his proud chest with air. He was rarin to make a nest. He made his nests with wings of dragonflys and the petals of lillies and blooming snow cherries.

Looking inqisitivly to Rashwen he waited to follow her lead.

She chirped softly at Lookheed, then flew up to the second level. She nosed about until she found the perfect spot for her nest. Nosing open a door, she knew she had found the perfect spot. A window lit up the room and there was a set of shelves against one corner making it a triangular shape.

Rashwen settled on the top shelf, making certain it took her full weight well, then she chirped at Lockheed to join her. The shelf took both of them as it was quite sturdy. Tilting her head at her mate she mutely inquired as to what he thought of this location.

Lockheed followed closely. He let his guard down here among friends. He gave Rashwen his full atttention.

His first instinct was to find a nice body of water and explore for a nest site, but his red queen was much different from him.

Liking the idea of being near the mages and thier studies pleased him. He had learned many things by hangin over Amagato's shoulder as he reseasrched things.

Nuzzling her with approval Lox wander in front of her. With a few motions and some odd cooing noises the shelf begins to soften and change. (warp wood, stone shape) Two marble book ends morph and change before meldding into the bassinet creation.. After a few moments he has turned the corner bookshelf into a beautiful scalloped hollow that resembled something like an ornamental oakennest or wooden oyster complete with fine carvings and a marble lining. Because it was made out of the surroundings it blended right in (80% chance to go unddetected)

Proudly he shows you how it can close the top for protection, secrecy or privacy.

Pulling on her w/his tali Lox tries to coax her out the nearby window to find some trimmings for the beding

Outside another snow covered wagon rolled past the towers and continued down the muddy trail out of town. The exodus of townspeople had beaten deep furrowed ruts into the road leading to the next town.

With an angry fist in the air Farmer Plaide yelled as they rode by, I hope you defenders do something soon! My crops are wasted and my livestock is frozen stiff-legged in the barn. His words rode on bellows of frosted air. There's devils in yonder hills and its as if the gods themselves have turned thier backs on Elmshade.

Inside his voice didn't go unheard. Amagato scryed with his second sight to the horizon beyond the towns limits. He could still plainly see the carpet of hellorcs and the Weremachts strange army advancing past ES on its way to the expected clash between them and one even  more foul than the God hunter.

But now, coming from the opposite direction, he first saw the unhidden gate of the Asmodeian ranks. It had been cloaked up until now. only Raven had seen it and lived to tell the tale. It was massive and a force that dwarfed the Weremachts belched forth like thick dark water. Gale force snow storms and freezing flame shot out from the hole in reality. The area around it was froze under 8' of solid ice and then shattered under the feet of the unholy army.

Still staring off into the distance the wu-jen said softly, They have come. War is upon us. Readied or not we must chose our paths.

His eyes came back to the room. I shall attempt to assemble the greatest defenders of this land. At the Sparring Fields we shall gather. It is now time to incorperate any startegies.
