  • Age about 14yo (they don't really celebrate birthdays. That would be individual. The monastery is communial ) 4’5" tall and about 85# w/a big drink in her hand. Waist long blue black hair. Dark eyes. Black silk pajamas and sandals. Jen-Ki always has her large "rice hat" in tow. To one side hangs her simple shoulder bag.
  • Weapons are shrukien (3/1 d4 may have para poison), a weighted chain/necklace and caltrops with para poison. And the fish pole in a pinch. Flash grenadesx3 (gourds) and puffer fish poison (in small green porcelain container. 8doses. Vs para ko for d10)

Equipment involves: rice paper, her goza (straw mat), ornate ink brushes of ivory carved into the likeness of Shang-Ti, ink and stone well, writing paper, 1 small intricate lock pick set, a bamboo collapsing fishing pole (extra hook and line), combs, perfumes (in small blown glass containers), soap, and tooth scraper of green wood. She also carries a black teak firestarter/miniature stove (fist sized chest. Can set a metal cup on it to be heated), metal inscribed cup, green tea, sushi roller and spices. Also has misc. ribbon and wax candles and a seal to use to bind her scrolls.

 

 

  • Jen-Ki is petite and demure in stature and has the body english of a nervous child. Jen-Ki is built like a slim young man and has passed as such w/a haircut. Big fun, big trouble. (hence the first punishment quest for a snow orchid) . She is very accepting of good intent and seeks to separate her self from any confrontations.
  • One may notice the whiskered serpent/dragon tattoo that peeks from openings in her clothing: neck/collar (body) and can be seen again at her ankle (tail) or wristhand (head). (actually wraps around ½ of her entire body)
  • Jen-Ki’s believes her parents were killed in the border wars and her home land was seized by the victor. She was delivered with the other young to the monastery and has been raised and educated within its walls. The remote monastery located on the ice crusted mountain peak called Hitaro Itche is located within the boundaries of Kara-Tur . Jen-Ki has been sent into the world to learn knowledge and enlightenment. They are all expected to earn their residency by returning from their life quest to bestow and share the gifts and knowledge they have acquired.
  • She has no desire to return to the boring lives of the monastery. Jen-Ki is required to periodically return to further her training and to convey any new knowledge she may have at that time. She dislikes the authority of the elders and resents their power over her. She honors the masters but will try to avoid any elderly people.
  • Jen-Ki is expected to experience as mush as possible. But she cannot experience a union of flesh until she has passed the rites of knowledge. She has already passed the physical ritual of the zodiac (barely).
  • Jen-Ki has already been punished for: stealing the incense burner, beating up one of the boys, destroying a wooden door of the entrance to the garden, breaking the incense burner, being beat up by one of other girls, skipping chores, failure to cook properly, disruption of scholarly studies, disobedience, and kissing the boys. She has been informed many times that she is the most unproductive pupil the scholars had ever seen. Except for her ability to produce masterful paintings and caligraphy she has failed practically everything else she has ever been involved with.
  • Twice she was quested to return w/a sacred snow orchid for redemption and failed miserably. The hypothermia has passed now and she is on to her next task.
  • She wants to rebel against the rules of the covenant but she has a large sense of personal honor that always binds her to her word. She is currently trying to travel so far away that she truthfully cannot return. (this could change quickly being her first time out into the great sphere of life)
  • Monks always separate themselves from the material needs of humanity. To reflect this a monk cannot have but enough $ to survive. And can USE only a few special items (can't get new until current stuff destroyed) Must give excess to charity/churches. They will also sever their ties by dropping their last names in order to adopt the name of the monastery.

 

  • Clan of snow orchid (mind and body) KIT. DM options.
  • *Restriction-CANNOT use magical items. The mastersbelieve that they create a dependency on material possessions. Psionic items are considered to be tools of the mind and are allowed.
  • *Bonus-Psionic resistance (base 10%+ 5% per level attained) 0%. Also an additional +20% if versus a student of the snow orchids mind (ie: telepathic psionics). Gain free proficiency of 3 slots from intense training in solitude. 1 of these must be artistic ability or other court proficiency.
  • Each student may roll for a wild psionic (see psionic HB- average chance is 3% of actually having one)
  • (The masters of the Orchid are sometimes petitioned by powerful plannars to act as personal guards or elite warriors against psionic enemies. This is not known to the general population)
  • *Wild Psi- Rigidity- 30psp- (from DK) power score Con-2, initial cost 8, maintenance cost 3 per round, range 30yards, preparation time 0, area of affect individual, pre-req immovability. Description- stiffens joints and musculature of target, slowing it gradually until it doesn’t function. Only man sized. Affects undead but not noncorpreal. Occurs in stages. Round one is after power check and initial cost. Round 2 is next round, the third is any rounds thereafter. Stage 1: +1Th , -2 init, -1 ac penalties. Stage2: +3Th, -4 init, -4 ac penaltiesStage 3: +6Th, -7init, -7acAffected creatures have difficulty speaking and their powers of observation are severely impaired. Casters cannot perform somatic or verbal components if beyond stage 1.{We also agree that it would slow a victims move by 2/3, then ½, then 1/3.} (I don’t use the optional power score system) (a Dm may allow the victim a save but it is not required by the description.)

  • The monastery’s students can however strike +1 needed to hit" creature as a barbarian of = level.
  • Jen-Ki doesn't deserve any special items at this time.
  • Note: monks aren’t allowed any honor points, family clan, birth rank, ancestry, or birthrights.

 

Jen-Ki is a skittish young girl of an apparently very young age. She tends to scurry away from confrontation. In other instances she gravitates towards honest passive individuals. She has shown a slight aversion to older people who she respects but actively tries to avoid.

Her clothes are of simple black silk pajamas. She always has an oversize rice hat in tow. Her equipment includes one side bag hung about her torso with a piece of bamboo secured to it.

Jen-Ki’s common speak leaves much to be desired. This makes communicating somewhat tedious. She does however have a wide rang of facial expressions that make understanding her a bit easier. Her black eyes sparkle when she’s happy and she has an innocent grin that can go from ear to ear. Much like a child. She also claps and giggles to things that delight her. She seems to be very pleased with some of her own paintings and calligraphy.

She has some odd habits including seemingly natural occurring handstands, flips, and leaps. She seems very comfortable perched on top of normal items such as tables, dressers, trees, people, and carriages. Jen-Ki’s habit of opening shelled nuts, oysters, and many hardened containers by crushing them in one hand proves to be a little unnerving to some and draws a little attention at times.

Overall Jen-Ki seems uneducated and innocent in the ways of society and overly fearful. She obviously has not had much experience with anything real or not contained in books or scrolls.

Has short, wavy brown hair and forest green eyes.
Is quite largely built, with enormous arms and torso muscles, obviously shownover his commoners clothes.  He wears a simple shirtless brown tunic, with brown leggings and simple black boots.  Has a tattoo on his right arms bicep of a figure crouched down in the shadows, with a background of flames.  He is calm and polite to most, but can be rather rambunctious with the women.  Always has an eye out for those females who can catch his attention...

Chy-Tung is an extremely angular 7'6" Male. his frame is slim and light. His skin is a rather bland yellow tan bordering on caramel.
 
He usually employs a large oversized "rice hat" and wears a simple tunic of common cloth and 3/4 length sleeves. His breeches are nothing more than white knee length cloth drawn at the waist by a belt of beadwork rope. In colder climbs he will obtain a cloak or other non-restrictive outer garment.
 
His forearms and calves are wrapped with the blue swathes of his clan. These also cover most of his foot and the base of his hands.
 
Most folk tend to notice his 2 sheathed Katana that are suspended upside down from his back. Chy-Tung is accustomed to carrying a "spirit catcher" walking stick.
Under close scrutiny one can identify the fact that he is indeed a form of Elf. but even he doesn't fully realize his true race. He knows he is not from the well known bloodlines of the "standard" variety elves.
 
Last of all is the fact that he appears to be lacking eyes at all. Where the voids in his skull remain there is a bandit stripe tattooed across the lids. If a person was to inspect the stripe closely they would notice hundreds of tiny inscriptions and runes. (He has no idea what they are. And his adoptive father never admitted that he new either)
 
For a time he possessed the disguise magic of a thief's toy to hide this fact, but it is now long lost. So he simply wraps a swathe of silk across his eye holes to hide the "bandit" scars.
 
 
 
 
Chy-Tung speaks with a silken voice smooth like ice and honey. He sounds educated. He claims to be a traveler with no real agenda, even though he has hinted to some of his wanting to be present at a certain "incursion" of some form of enemy.
 
During the nights he does enjoy to sing the dark melodic songs of lineage that his clans use to remember their fallen. Chy-Tung does exhibit a deep  thirst for musicical instruments to played in presence. He seems to enjoy this immensely.
 
Most of those he speaks with he tries to leave a token of friendship if he views them favorably. usually someting hand made made by himself.

Elghinyrrok Sargtlin is drow for deadly warrior. He is a drow yes but he is not evil. He unleasheswhat would be his evil side when he fights his enemies. His dark lavendar eyes seem to pierce through your soul at times. Even though he is not an evil drow he does study the ways of the drow and some of their proverbs. He carries all his work with him but concealed by his black cape. He usually travels at night but he has been able to stay in sunlight if he needs to.

* Shield of the Faithful:  +2 Holy Large Mythril Shield that when struck with an evil alligned weapon, it burns the weapon, dealing damage to the wielder of (1d4 / hit struck)

But when he is on an adventure He will let them grow out till his quest fulfilled. At first glance He looks like your typical young man but his green eyes have the haunted gaze of a veteran. He is a serious young man , his childhood cut short by war. His first battle was three days after he buried his family that was killed by an orc raid. He has fought many battles and as a weaponsmith he turned many orc blades into arrowheads for the army. Skilled in the ways of Magic, Raven learned and studied at the Tower of Sorcery of Waterdeep, beginning his Mage career as a Sea Mage. He Later delved into Alchemy where he excellled as fast as he did with his magic. Now he combines the two to create fabulouse elixers, and enchanted weapons and items.
Raven Stormcrow appears to be a young human male. He long ago discovered the formula of a powerful elixer that preserves his age, and to date heis far older than he looks. His waist and thighs are covered by the KILTand long pieces of steel plates sewn into it. his boots are regular riders  leather. His 1/2 helm covers the top 1/2 of his face and eyes. The bottom half is open. It had 2 ram style horns but 1 is broke off (item no longer magical) The helm also has segmented slats of plate draped covering his neck.

  • Slain lurches around at 7' 3" and a slim 290lbs. His hair is a thick mane of waist long strawberry blonde  braids traditional of the men of his clan. HIs eyes are an odd dull shade of yellow. He also wears the crest and kilt of Clan McFeargus. A crest of 2 rearing Dragons with their wings extended faceing each other, 1 Gold 1 black, over a Huge eye w/a cross for a pupil. A symbol of Odin.

    *Starting at one ear and running across to the bridge of his nose before trailing back to his other ear are celtic runes of power. The tattooed knot work is 3/4" thick and done in hunter and black green ink.
     
    He also has some misc tattoos of griffons, draco(gold), and birds of prey.
     Adornments include many braclets and his bottom lip is pierced two times near the corner with 2 metal hoops of green bronze.
    His mustache is chest long now and also braided.
     
    History: A great many years (15) ago he loved his battle mate the adult Fe silver dragon "Salantra" and she loved him in return. They were ambushed by the pack of blues "Vernaarnd" had assembled. They both would have died but she gave her still beating heart to Slain and w/the hand of Odin. Her heart was placed in his chest so he could live. Salantra soul resides in the silver heart he carries. As he is apt to "talk to the air"
    (the heart grants him the equivalant of girdle of giant str. Cannot be removed and or disjunctioned normally. Reg ANY dmg 5/rd. To kill him the heart must be pierced with any non-wood item. Note: when he recieved it he found he felt  "funny" and weak { EVERY OTHER STAT WENT DOWN 1} 
     
     
    Most find Slain tolerable at best because as he seems to embrace battle and always strives to protect those he associates with. He is not very sensitive to others felings or thoughts. And has a tendency to charge ahead without giving things "too" much thought.

Personality Characteristics: Mathyas is undoubtedly a pompous man, carrying such annoying mannerisms as insisting on being addressed as "Sir Mathyas" or "Lord Steele," bringing up his military experience with every chance he gets,, and traveling with a band of loyal followers who praise his every word and action. However, this does not make him an evil man. He is excessively friendly and trusting, which at times borders on sheer gullibility. He will almost always buddy up to someone or at least attempt to within five minutes of meeting them. Nonetheless he is by no means a "Choir boy" persay. He tends to drink too much, shoot his mouth off too often, and is quite a bit of a lech. Yet at the end of the day, there might be something about him that tells a person that he's an alright fellow.
Magic Possessions: Mathyas claims to have had his weapons blessed by, "the most holy of priests who will ever walk this land." The righteous and honorable, "Father Duncan." Of course, whenever Mathyas drops his name at an attempt for some quick prestige, (which he tends to do often,) he seems to be the only one that has heard of this "Father Duncan," inciting the man to begin labeling those all around him heathens and philistines. Of course the reason for Father Duncan's obscurity is because in actuality, Father Duncan was a beggar who mugged a priest and put on his robes and was about to exit said priest's temple when none other than Mathyas showed up demanding to have a blessing put upon his axe and blade. When the arrogant ex-soldier offered money, the beggar kindly obliged. Of course this fact makes none of Mathyas's possesions magic or extraordinary in any way.
Mundane Possessions: Regular sword, regular axe, sheath for sword, case for axe. Leather chest armor, leather belt with metal buckle, leather boots, cloth pants, black eyepatch. In small backpack: 20' of rope, Flint/Steel, various animal skins for sleep, flask, 2 months military food rations.
Background History: Mathyas Steele was born in Norwood as the son of a human soldier in the Norwood army, Cuthbert Steele. At a young age, Mathyas was prepped by his father for military training lasting into his teens and until he was ready serve in the Norwood army. However, in what his father saw as disgraceful, Mathyas never took his service completely seriously, opting for drinking and lusting after anything in a skirt with two legs. Of course he was a ferocious warrior which kept him in the army for awhile. However, even a great warrior can overstep his boundries when he beds a General's concubine. Mathyas would have been killed by the General himself had it not been for his father's intervention. However, it was agreed upon that Mathyas no longer deserved the priviledge of military rank and was dishonorably diacharged from the military and completely ousted from Norwood, however to save face, all parties involved said Mathyas left of his own accord. However, since he was a beloved soldier no matter how much of a fool he was, a group of his fellow soldiers and companions left their ranks to follow him out of Norwood. To this day, Mathyas and his companions have been traveling as a sort of mercernary troupe, and they have wandered into Elmshade Village with hopes of landing another job.
