    Life Experiences:
  • Age 3 witnessed two giant Horseflies attack the horse herd and subsequent killing by his father.
  • Age 5 wandered into Shaman Kirown's Lodge, and watched him summon a Mist Mephit for spying on some mercenary brigands raiding throughout the Gulthemere. Kirown recognized the potential in young Blackmane, and sent word to Ranger Trelaine about him.
  • Age 7 while returning home from training with Trelaine, he witnessed the nightmarish transformation of the former Tribal Chief into a Werebat, and informed Trelaine and Kirown of what he'd seen. They revealed the evil lurking in their midsts to the rest of the Tribe, and drove him from Cedars Peaks, banished for life.
  • Age 9 nearly becomes dinner of a Dragonfly Larva while learning to swim, and only Trelaine's timely warning to stay clear of the inoffensive-looking critter, saved him from being the main course.
  • Age 13 a swarm of five Giant Wasps attacked Cedars Peaks, and inspired Ash's first use of his Wild Talents (Project Force) to help defeat the insects. Trelaine observed this, and informed Kirown, first raising the possibility of sending Ash to the Druids at Urml for further training.
  • Age 13.5 during a family outing, in which he, his Brother and Sister explored some caves, Ash used his Wild Talents (Detonate) to save them from a Stun Jelly. Upon escaping, Sura and Kel told their Father of their narrow escape, who in turn told Kirown. The emergence of Ash's strange powers, claimed by Kirowan to be gifts of the Gods, convinced Tau that Ash should be sent into the Osraun Mountains on his Vision Quest, a Rite of Passage to Manhood, lasting until a vision of his purpose in life came to him.

  • The next morning Ash Blackmane left on his Vision Quest without any food or water, trekking a full day through the Forest of Gulthemere before starting his climb toward the highest of peaks in the Osraun Mountains. At the summit of the peak upon which he planned to seek his Vision Quest, Ash had no sooner had reached it after two days hard travel than he was confronted by a Red Fox that grew into an angellic being of awe-inspiring and deific-presence (Planetar) sent unbeknownst to him by Selune, the Goddess of among other things Seekers. The Planetar commanded Ash to go to the Druid Compound in Urml, and SEEK out his destiny there. Unable to deny the power of his 'Vision Quest', Ash started a grueling twelve day journey across the rugged Osraun Mountains, encountering many dangers. On the third day of his journey, Ash found an ancient burial ground of an unknown people protected by a strange humanoid-skulled, snake skeleton (Death Worm), which he wisely avoided. Unfortunately several days later Ash was not able to avoid a pack of Ghast (3) led Ghouls (12), which precipitated the use of a new Wild Talent ability to outrun the survivors (Animal Affinity), and to cause an avalanch (Detonate) of rock to destroy the Undead (treasure). Again several days later, Ash ran afoul of some very nasty ermine-like mammals (Sleek), which did NOT respond well to his presence nor his attempts at being empathetic with them, and WANTED very much to dine upon him, precipitating once more the necessity to blast the vicious little bastards to pieces (Detonate) to deter them. Several days from Urml, Ash mets Cirrus, a Sylph on the mountain peaks, and after some convincing that he was bound for the Druid Compound and NOT a threat to her, became fast friends. When asked, She tells him of her Goddess, Akadi, the Lady of the Winds, and where he was in relation to Urml and the Flood Forest. On the second to last day, tired and haggard from his long journey, Ash stumbled upon Chartreuse, a juvenile (20hps, 15' body, 12' tail) Emerald Dragon sunning herself, becoming fast friends after spending almost an entire afternoon talking together. After Ash pledged his help to her should she ever need it, Chartreuse flew Ash down to the edges of the Flood Forest so he could more easily complete his final day of travel to Urml. The last day of his journey was marred only by a surprise meeting with a couple 12' tall storks (Boobrie) looking to take a taste test of man-flesh in comparison with their normal dining fare. This of course inspired Ask to make a mad dash to some nearby trees in the maddening game of catch me if you can, and led him directly into the right into the branches of Cypressshaggymoss, a Treant of the Flood Forest. So it was the Treant, Cypressshaggymoss, carried Ash Blackmane the final leagues of his journey to the Druid Compound of Urml, and introduced him to the Arch-Druid Vai'Larris, completing his adventures in the Osraun Mountains. Ash Blackmane would spend the next four and a half years studying at Urml among the Druids and other Rangers, improving his skills and preparing for his Destiny, his Vision Quest.
