The well travelled road to Elmshade held only a singlr traveler as she followed the pull of her God's will. Dame Eleine Baardsdottir, Paladin-Knight of Tyr, knew not what she was riding into- only that it was was her Lords will that she do so. Many things about this place made her oddly nervous, as though world changing events were about to take place. She reached up to lightly rub a thick coild of scarring that had remained despite all the care of the Clerics at home. She had ridden hard down from the north taking the time to break in all of her gear. For every bit of it was new. Eleine's clear blue eyes darkened recalling how she had lain before the alter of her God, begging for death. The love of her family had seen her restored to all that she was. It had been difficult to leave but the Call she felt in her soul was one that she could never disobey. The tall, powerfully built Knight felt a compulsion to look skyward, and as she did so saw a g;immer of something that made her frown deeply. Could that have been a red Dragon that she just saw? Pressing her knees to Arnsgunnar's side she encouraged the mount into a full gallop. That pace only lasted a short time, for the massive warhorse was built for stregth and stamina, not speed. As she dropped his pace to a walk, something caught her attention in a small glade. Dismounting from her companion, the woman made certain her blade was loose in it's sheath and easily drawn. The trees brushed against her rich blue with Tyr's crossed Mace and sword wreathed in interlocking swords showing her to be a militant Knight for those who read heraldry. With one hand on her sword, she stepped into the clearing, only to drop that hand when she saw what she was facing. It was but a child, as golden blonde as she was. The 6'2" woman knelt to one knee as she asked in her heavily accented common, "Child, what are you doing out her alone with none to watch over you?" Eleine's eyes took note of a ring the child wore as she removed a glove from her hand and extended it to the child. |
