Lockheed grinned shyly as they burst thru the window into the cold air. Lockheed definately wasn't as fast as Rashwen but he has a much more fluid motion that leant itself to aerobatics and aquatic movement.
Cutting the wind like a Air-serpent he leads her to a place where the water spilled over the rocks and the resulting mist fed a colony of exquisite "special lichen and moss" He tasted a sample and decided it wasn't mature enough yet. He would return in a week and see if the special fare was ready for harvest. .
Snow ice and an eerie silence proved the water was exceptionally cold. Ice has formed on the edges of the running stream but water was Lox's element as fire seemed to be Rash's element.
Opposites attract?
He dove in and explored by himself. You can see him moving under the streams surface like a liquid snake. He couldn't fly as well but in the water he was unmatched. his speed is amazing as he darts and streaks from one bank to the other. At every shift he uncovers a new dezien.
He quickly and easily ate some glinting fish before he caught his love a nice cold clean trout to nibble on while he delivered different things to her feet.
First he collected sparkling stones of crystal and volcanic glass. Each was brilliant and gleaming. They are all smooth and thin. Perfect for the base of a nest. He nosed them into a circular cup that would support a great amount of weight and retain heat long after the parents were gone. Kind of a rock babysitter. (03%) While looking for these he discovers a small band of silver. What a nice litle bonus! Swallowing it he stores it in his gullet for safe keeping. When the egg hatched he would give it to the youngling, it was obviouly a good omen. HE was so glad to be alive and so in love w/his family, the thought of the newborn filled him w/a nefound feeling of contentment and excitment. He had so much he wanted to share w/them both.
Next he sought after food. It was plentiful and abundant thank the lords. All of his choices were presented to his queen for her review. He offered her crayfish, frogs, carp eggs and dormant insects that lived both on and in the water, mostly spiders, beetles, snails and water walkers. The cold had zapped a good amount of the plantlife but he still brought her some tasty berries, pure water crest and mint leaves from the shores. He was pushy about the caviar. Lore told him that the eggs of an old grass carp would imbue wisdom on the one to consume them.
He watched her reaction w/great interest to determine what it was she liked best.
And then one of his favorites flew by and the chase was on! Lockheed apparentl;y loves dragonflys (and butterflys) To watch him chase them was comical and amazing. The rapid fire dives and twists at breakneck speeds was really something to see. Eventually he had collected a decent pile of glimmering and immensily colorful wings. Enough to make the start of a feathersoft nest.
hummingbirds were one of his favorite land creatures but they had obvioulsy fled the cool weather for warmer climes.
The little purple psuedo could catch anything in the water no problem but he had more fun chasing airborne game. Such a hobby helped him gain experience while in the air.
Not having much luck finding fragrant flower petals or the like, he tried to find alternatives to avian down and fluffy foilage. Spotting some snow covered catails he raised an eyebrow and attacked. Some diving swoops later he had accumilated a decent pile of the fluffy dandelion plummage.
Happy with the year-round water plants' bounty he sped back to collect some stones and nosed her to return to build thier home site. (did I already tell you lockheed is a water creature for the most part)
He had every intention of doing all the work while his Red-hot queen of sexy aerial luvin dined on the delicacies he brought to her regal presence.
He watched her closely for any sign of displeasure or acceptance. He is very attentive and waits on her hand and foot whenever he isn't performing a nest task. His brood needed thier mother more than anything. He would ensure they all had everything they needed.
