((OOC: This thread is dedicated to any events inside the tunnels inder the Sparring Fields. This thread is open for anyone wishing to use them.))

Drannon and Ian hide successfully in the side tunnel. Ian can see no other signs of enemies in that tunnel. They both crouch down and keep silent, while blending into the shadows around themselves. (Ian MS & HS successfull.)
Only moments after they hide, four large figures walk past them, and on tward the crevass area. Three enormouse, armored orcs pass by carrying large bundles of wood planks and rolls of rope. They look as if they are easily carrying twice their weight. A forth figure passes carrying a couple wooden toolboxes, and a pocketed vest full of large nails and pins. It is also a smaller grey skinned troll-like creature it seems. It has a small book, and rolled up scrolls at its side belt. It growls commands to the larger orcs as they move down the tunnel, and past the two hidden Rangers.
Drannon waits till they are gone then slowly steps out into the tunnel looking both ways. He shakes his head and turns to Ian, speaking low.... "We had better be careful, who knows how many of these things are down here." He looks back tward the tunnel the construction crew just went.... "Those were some different looking orcs. They dont look like any orc I have ever seen, but they also wear strange armor and cloths that I have never seen either. And that grey thing commanding them...... " ....he looks back to Ian.... "Was that a Troll?"

Drannon was about to fire up into the globe of darkness, when he noticed movement from the corner of the room. Two more drow had stepped out from behind some crates, and had arrows notched and locked onto him. Drannon decides to take evasive action this round, and dives back behind some crates himself. He looses one arrow as he dives (rolls....2.), but it skipps of a crate and misses. He manages to shout a short warning to Ian... "Ian! Two more, four o'clock!"

Ian comes in at the Orc once again, slashing twice in large sweeping hacks.(Rolls.... 10, 14.) He barely misses with the first swing, as the huge orc manages to step back in time. However the second attack sinks deep into its shoulder for maximum damage. (18 Dmg) The Orc groans in pain, and even drops to one knee as buckets of blood pour down his left chest. Ian pills with all his strength to retrueve the blade, (Rolls.... nat19.) However it is stuck fast in his thick boney shoulder. Ian looks over to his side, and spots the two archer drow Drannon shouted to him about.

The Drow fire two arrows apiece, sending four at Drannon. (Roll... 3, 9, 13, 12.) Drannons evasive action proves to be effective however as all four arrows miss, and thunk into a crate.

The Orc Gets back to his feet, and backhands at Ian as he gets up. (Rolls.... 12.) Ian jumps back avoiding the big fist, having to leave his sword stuck in the things shoulder. The Orc tugs at Ians swords hilt trying to remove it, (Rolls... 17.) but the blood coats it too thick, making getting a good hold impossible. It roars out in pain and looks to Ian with hate.

((DMOOC: Round 6 Init.: Drannon=8, Drow=6, Orc=7.))

(Init Roll.... 10, finally I get to go first LOL))

" Steal my sword will you, I don't think so Orc scum."  Drow, I must retain my anger, it will get me killed.  I must get my sword, but I have to get the drow.  Ian thinks to himself.  ' Diedra, Godmother give me strength' Ian mentally requests of his godmother, who has kept him calm when he was mad.

Ian retains it no longer, he starts to growl deep and loudly as Drannon can see small waves of white light on Ian, and he charges the orc maruder in an attempt to get his sword, or at least ahold of it and pull it free.

(( just incase you don't rember, just like Jadzia, Ian has the lighting ability. Only Ian can not create storms like she could, his is more a shocking grasp type of lightning with only like a 2 foot reach, and only when he starts to get angry or something.))

Drannon poked up from behind the crate, (rolls...1) he aims and fires. However the bowstring snaps, and his arrow skipps across the top of the crate in front of him. He looks at the bow and curses his luck, then he notices Ian nearby. The young man looked upset, and waves of energy rippled off him the madder he got.

The drow accross the way took advantage of Drannon watching Ian, and loosed arrows at him. (rolls... 17, 10, 5, 9.) However the crate provided good cover for the human, and only one arrow got through. Drannon took a hit in his shoulder, and yelled out in pain. (5 Dmg.) The other three arrows stuck into the crate.
Above, and unkown to both Rangers, a small spider crawls out of the Globe of Darkness. It crawls across the cieling headed in Drannons direction.

The Orc yells in pain looking at the longsword stuck in its shoulder. It raises up to its full height, and shouts strange words into the air. "BERATTA DISRYP FORTRIGARD!!!" The Orcs many tattoes across its body begins to glow. Its skin starts to bubble undernieth as bones, tendons, and muscle pulse and reform. The Orc grows to almost twice its original size, and large bloody spikes and spines pierce its skin and grow. Its whole body is soon covered in bloody spikes, and two sets of massive horns grow from its head. It looks back up to the sparking human ranger, its eyes changed into blood red slits that emit flame from them.
Ians sword drops to its feet as it rises again to its now 15 foot height and roars loudly. Drannon, and even the drow stop a moment to look at the demon orc.

Ian begins to lunge for his sword, when the thing morphs and changes into some sort of demon spawn. The size of the spikes covering its body, look like it would be hard to get close to it. On top of that, it stands directly over Ians sword.
Ian looks to his sword, then to the demon and his anger increases. He runs at the demon and holds up his shield to block any spikes. He dives to the ground and onto his shield using it like a sled, (dex roll..... 8.) and skidding between the legs of the creature. Spikes along its inner thigh and lower legs scrape slightly against Ians sides, (2Dmg) (rolls....16.) but he manages to grab his sword as he passes and exits on the other side. While passing, the demon got a shock as well. Ians building field of energy releases in one mighty display of electrical arcs and sparks. (Roll... 14.) The demon orcs frame rippled with electricity up and down its body as Ian passed undernieth. (Saved for half of 32. 16 Dmg.)

((DMOOC: Actually 10 is last in Initiative. Closer to, or even lower than one goes first. Yes... Init. can go into the negatives. Ian will have to use a round to get back up, but he got his sword back. Im doing your lightning like this... its fair, and you might want to write it down for future refference. Ians Electrical Attack. (6d6 Electrical Dmg. 2' radius. 1/day.) Usable only when he gets upset or mad.))

Ian will take this action to reposition himself, returning his sword and his shield to their defensive postions.  " I don't know what demonic posession you are, but I am going to have to kill you just the same!"  Ian said as he started to move between Drannon and the foes to start blocking anymore arrows with his shield as Drannon recovered.

((DMOOC: Oops! Forgot Init. Ill just go the same order as last time.))

Drannon watches in horror as the Orc transforms into a demonic creature. He begins to yell for Ian to get back, but he already walks over by him to help block arrows with his shield. Drannon feels around in his pouch and pulls out a silvery marble. He wispers a word to it in his palm, and then raises up from behind the crate again. This time his target is the demon orc, and he throws the marble at it. (rolls... 14.) Drannons marble strikes the creature in the chest, and flashes a blue light from within. (rolls... mr78% failed. save12level warrior... 8. failed.)(I cant believe this worked! lol) The marble glows brighter and brighter, and the demon orc roars in protest as its entire body is sucked inside the Warp Marble. The marble stops glowing, and drops to the ground where the demon once stood. Only its large footprints remain on each side of a smoking silver marble. Drannon raises a fist in the air in triumph... "Yeah! Take that demon dog!!"
The drow with the bows, stop... and look to each other with worried looks as their behemoth companion vanished. They both duck back behind the crate they were behind, and take off down the tunnel. The tiny spider on the cieling makes it to the back wall, and continues to crawl down behind where Drannon hides.

Ians foe vanished into Drannons peculiar marble, but he noticed the two drow bolting from the scene. They will mostlikely return with reinforcements if not stopped. Drannon holds his shoulder in pain, the drows arrow still sticking out of it.

Aonian sees the flash of blue light and then watched the demon orc disapear.  " That was amazing, good work Drannon."  Ian turns to look at him, upon hearing his groan of pain.  " That is nasty, we must get you some help, since I am no healer."  Ian will stand down long enough to try and find something in his bag to help stop the bleeding until the arrow can be properly removed. (I would do it, but I risk further injuring Drannon.)  He knows the drow are running, and knows that his foe is running away, but his Ranger pact placed upon him by his mother will not let him run from a fellow protector in need.

Ian will try and reach out for Diedra or Raven, knowing that this could be their only way out this tunnel.  (Mental link placed upon Ian by his godmother Diedra, ask Diedra for details) 'Godmother, Godfather, help us, orcs and drow'  He says as he sheaths his sword and drapes Drannon over his shoulder to assist his walk and continues towards the exit.

Drannon pats Ian on the back... "Im ok Ian. Hurts like a scorpions sting, but Ive been in much worse condition.... trust me." He clutches his shoulder and walks over to where his marble lays. As he approaches it he notices it still smoking... and vibrating. He tilts his head confused and points down at it... "Its never done that before." The marble begins to pour smoke off its sides, and small electrical arcs flowing over its surface. It begins to vibrate so badly, it emits a high pitched tone. Drannon backs away from it shaking his head... "Now I know for sure, its never done anything like that before. Somethings wrong Ian.... I think its trying to get out."
Just then a crackling line of energy forms over their shoulder, away from the marble, tward the center of the large storage room. Drannon and Ian both look its direction just as it splits open into a Gate. Ian and Drannon cant see anyone on the other side,  but apparently its a room at the Ivory Tower due to the background. Ians room to be exact.
Drannon grabs Ian by the arm and drags him over to the gate. "C'mon Ian. I dont think this is going to be safe to stay around when it opens." He says while looking back at the worsening condition of his magical marble. The sound gets intense as they pass through the gate, and cracks of light start appearing in the marbles surface. The two Rangers pass through the gate and enter Ians suite. Once inside Drannon looks to Ian and shouts over the loud noise... "You better close that thing, and be quick about it!" Ian only thinks about it closing, and it does so. The gate collapses in time, and the sound stops instantly.
Drannon drops to a nearby chair, holding his wounded shoulder and looking up at Ian. "Whew! That was close. I didnt know you could do magic like that?"

Ian and Drannon pass through the gate into Ian's room at the Ivory Tower. He looks just as stunned as Drannon does when he also closes the gate with a thought.  "I don't know any magic, at least not yet, but given the circumstances, I would say that my godfather is watching over us."  He looks back at Drannon and does a quick examination on the wound, " You stay there, I will go see if I can find him, we need to seal that."  Ian says as he hands Drannon a damp cloth and runs around the Ivory tower looking for Raven.

Before Ian even left his room, he knew somehow that Raven was not in the tower. He also knew that his godfather had set the Ivory Tower itself to protect and watch over Ian. Once a week he could call on the powers of the Ivory Tower to save him, and provide sactuary for him. Such is what happened with the forming of the gate. The Ivory Tower had a sort of sentience of its own. Ian could feel its warm and secure preasance surrounding him, and informing him of all this in his mind. Raven left the tower this afternoon to have a meeting with the other Trinity Mages out on the Trinity Dias. From there, the tower does not know anything more.
Drannon calls out to Ian, while pulling out a pink potion from his belt pouches... "Its ok Ian. Ive got a potion here. Your not the only one with a wizard for a friend, Arienne takes good care of me and provides me with potions when I need." He sets the vile down on a small table next to the chair he sits in and grabs the shaft of the arrow in his shoulder. After a couple preperation breaths, he yanks the arrow out of his shoulder... giving off a painful yell as he does. He drops the drow arrow to the floor, and picks the vile back up. He easily pops the cork stopper, and downs the concoction completely. When finished, he pockets the vile, and looks down to his shoulder. Ian can see the wound heal up right before his eyes as the healing potion takes effect. Drannon sighs in relief, and looks back to Ian... "We'd be spending our time better by warning everyone of the dangers in the tunnels, and that horde we saw in that valley than worrying about me right now." Drannon stands, picking up the arrow as he does. He holds it out twirling it between his fingers.... "And we have some proof too." The drow arrow is unmistakeable with a black shaft, black feathers, and an adamantite head. A small band of adamantium surrounds the base just above the fletch feathers, with tiny drow symbols engraved on its surface.

"It even reaks of the foul demons."  Ian says as he gives a cocky wave in discust.  " Well who should we warn? My godfather isn't here, and that worries me in itself.  Maybe Mistress Arienne and Silvara, they sound like the best two to warn right now."  Ian asks Drannon

Drannon nods... "Good idea. We should keep the information quiet for now and only tell them. We dont want to cause a panic in the village. Maybe they could seal the tunnells off somehow to prevent anything from comming out." Drannon walks to the door and steps out into the hall looking both ways. He rubs his head and looks back inside to Ian... "You lead the way. I have never been inside Ravens tower before and dont know my way around. Lets go to the Trinity Dias first. Arienne said this morning before I left she was having a meeting out there today with the other mages. Maybe they are all still out there."

"Ok" Ian said with a nod, as he led the way out of the tower.  Once outside, he releases a skilled whistle and a white stallon rides out of the near by woods.  " Nordala Voronweir, cormalin esten."  Ian says to his horse and it nods.  He then jumps on and offers to help Drannon on back.  Once Drannon is on, (if he does) Ian leans down, strokes the horses mane and says, " Nordama Voronweir, broma dias."

(Hurry Voronweir, find the dias)

The white stallon speeds off towards the Trinity Triangle of Runes with the Rangers' cloaks flying in the wind.

((OOC: lol. Jake? lol. You really need to take a look at the new and improved ES map. The dias is in the middle of the three wizard towers, only a skip away from any of them. Elmshade Village Overview  I think once you familiarize yourself with this, your posts wont seem so... well youll see for yourself. Im considering this thread over, and we'll pick it up again at the Mage Trinity Board, under "Ravens Research" Thread. Arienne and Silvara are out on the dias right now there. END OF THREAD. ))
