Ash Blackmane (White Wolf of the Winter Sun), Seeker-Ranger ~ ~ ~ Waking up from a restless sleep filled with disturbing dreams of strange people from the war council, Ash goes out on the eastern balcony of his room, and sitting lotus-style, meditates for an hour in rising sun.  The Seeker feels disquiet still hanging in the air over Elmshade, and remembers how some of the protectors seemed TOO self-assured... TOO blinded over a KEY.  He didn't know these people well, but those with power always made him uncomfortable especially the one called Raven.  And what the silver-haired Elven Lady had said to him about miss judging some of them was wrong.  It was not the Ranger's place to judge that was up to the Great Spirit, but was his place to decide what was right or wrong from his own point of view.  If they took the KEY out of the village, that would be the RIGHT thing to do before the evil ones came to take it and wreak destruction on the home of the Elmshaders. ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ Of course his people would also fight to protect Cedar Peaks, his home, but would NOT allow something to remain in their village which attracted the destruction down on them.  Or so Blackmane wanted to believe.  In any case it was time to find his way home.  Finished with his meditations, Ash gathers his belongings, and goes down to the common room for breakfast.  He'd find out from the barkeep if he or someone else might know of Starmantle or Westgate or the Sea of Fallen Stars. ~ ~ ~

Jarlosh was already preparing Gideons usual order, before he even ordered it. The local barber often came in for lunch, and always ordered tea & crumpets. Jarlosh appreciated the barbers buisness as a regular customer, and always gave him extra in case he had guests at his table... which he usually did. On a silver platter, he brings Gideons order out to his table, complete with tea set and plate of fresh crumpets. He gives the barber a slight bow and smile, then returns to his duties behind the bar. Gideon had a running tab, and was never publicly charged for services rendered at the Twisted Root.
Shortly after, Holga returned to the floor carrying fresh flowers and candles for the tables. Customers were beginning to arrive, and buisness was picking up... so she quickly finished with the tables and dawned her usual stained apron. Armed for taking orders, she walked out and began her daily ritual of serving customers and flirting with the cute ones. She would often pass Gideon and Ashs table, winking at the cutest men in the bar... however this newcommer at the barbers table caught her eyes as well. She wasnt shy, and would wink at the men whenever she could.

Nicolo noticed Holga wink at him or some one in his direction. He gave her a coy smile and brout his attention back to the Barber.
"I know you are a bizzy man, so I will leave you and the young lady here, alone to your meal's and meet you at your shop in two hour time. So you can tell me all about this expidition of yours in detail then."
Nicolo started to get a little nervice when the breakfast crowd started to arive, he hoped the Master Barber would agree to meet him later, before he would get to jitery and would have to excuse him self. He tryes his best to settle him self down to wait for an answer from the Master Barber.

Ash Blackmane (White Wolf of the Winter Sun), Seeker-Ranger ~ ~ ~ Ash couldn't believe his ears when the man who'd climbed up on the table mentioned the Sea of Fallen Stars.  To be sure it was a fortuitous coincidence.  The Seeker gathers his gear, and goes over to the table.  The Ranger studies the people gathered at the table, and listens to the one called Nicolo introduce himself.  After the Half-Elf finishes speaking, the man of Cedar Peaks directly states "Will go on journey.  Sea of Fallen Stars close to home." ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ When the Half-Elf followed by a Human from a different table approaches his table, Gideon lowers his chair to the floor, and looks the gentlemen over before saying "Oh, no. No.  It's no bother.  Do stay.  Have a seat, my good fellows."  The Barber motions toward one of the empty chairs, and when Holga comes by to drop off the tea and crumpets, asks her "Holga, could you brin..."  The Lore Master trails off in his statement when he notices that She'd already anticipated the need for extra tea and crumpets, and giving a crooked smile, nods his head saying "Thanks."  The former Guild Master shakes his head at the Bar Maid, thinking to himself 'She really needs to get laid.'  Turning his attention back to the strangers, the Mocking Man tells the newcomers, "Nicolo and you, good sir, I'm Gideon, and this is Denora.  Won't you join us for some tea and crumpets, and tell us about yourself and how you could help on this expedition?" ~ ~ ~

"Nice to meet you Gideon and Denora." The half-elf smiles at Denora for a moment. He then pulls up a chair to sit. "I would like to sit and have some tea you, thank-you. Well, where to begain......." Nicolo paused for a moment, he picked up the tea kettle and poared tea into the others cups before he poored himself some tea. After he placed the tea pot back down where it was before, he picked his cup of tea up and took a sip of tea. He thought to himself: 'I shoulden't tell them of my mind powers. Some people are leary of Psions.'
"Well I'm a unneak Mage who learned some magic on the travils I've been on. I also can use a sword, bow, and throwing axes. I can also help the group servive in the woods for a long time if need be. I can meaned most wounds. What esle would you like to know?" Nicolo said as he took another sip of his tea.

Denora's shyness kept her quiet as the two newcomers approached and then sat at the table. She gave them both a small smile and kept herself from fidgeting by drinking from her tea every few minutes. The druidess was surprised when the dark-complected stranger mentioned he lived close to the Sea of Fallen Stars. Her green eyes flicked to Gideon and she was perfectly content to let him explain the expedition to the others. The barber was a natural charmer and his eloquent way with words reassured her that by the end of the day they would probably have a complete party ready to travel.

Ash Blackmane (White Wolf of the Winter Sun), Seeker-Ranger ~ ~ ~ The Ranger sets his gear on the floor, and sits down at the table between Denora and Nicolo.  The Seeker simply states "Ash.  Tracker for People of Cedar Peaks." to Gideon as explanation of his abilities, and giving the Druidess only a slight nod, focuses his attention on the Barber ready to hear more.  Ash leaves the tea and crumpets untouched, not caring for anything to eat. ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ As usual, the former Guild Master, when dealing with new people, intensively eavesdrops on their thoughts with the power of the ESP medallion, and on this occasion, listens to what Nicolo and Ash think about.  The Ranger's thoughts of the moment were pretty straight forward, a strong desire to get back home.  The thoughts of the Half-Elf, however, causes Gideon to start in surprise at learning he was a Mind-Bender, and choke a little on the tea he was sipping.  The Barber coughs a few times, and thumps himself on the chest to clear his airway.  The teary-eyed gaunt man clears his throat, and hoarsely gasps "Oh, excuse me.  That went down the wrong pipe  Can't hold my tea." with a deprecating grin. ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ After a few moments of silence to compose himself, the Lore Master carefully schools his thoughts to the topic of the expedition at hand, and in more normal tone of voice to the two newcomers, calmly explains "Alright, I feel certain you'll be of assistance to my proxy, Denora.  I have limited information on what kind of environment or foes you may face on this expedition.  Understand that firstly.  Sheriff Albrecht, my contact in Nimbortan, formerly called Dragon Falls before the Time of Troubles, will advise you further."  Gideon looks between the two newcomers, making sure they grasped the significance of that statement, and then continues saying "With that being said, you will come to my shop by sundown or be left behind.  You have until that time to recruit other adventurers for this expedition AND gather what mundane supplies are available in this village.  Quantity and bulk is irrelevant, but due to the current situation in this land, certain supplies may be in high demand and therefore unavailable.  Act quickly.  In any case, I can package your supplies for easy transport."  Turning his gaze on the Druidess, the Barber tells her "As my proxy, you will hold the purse strings for the expedition, and decide on how much to disburse to your fellow compatriots." ~ ~ ~

"So we need to find this fellow named Albrecht. He'll help out, when we get to Nimbortan?" Nicolo said and waited for an answer from the Mast Barber. After he aswers Nicolo went on to say: "I will take my leave now. Thank- you for the tea. I will need to find a few things for the road a head. By the way will we need a mount for the expedition?"

Denora smiled at both men and said, "Nice to meet you, Ash and Nicolo." She looked concerned when she noticed Gideon choking, but nodded as he got it under control. Turning her green eyes back to the new arrivals she said, "It's good to know I'll have a little bit of protection on the journey, and I get along pretty well with rangers." Tallacan was tired of feeling left out of the conversation and she was growing very bored being confined to her home (the steel ring which adorned Denora's staff), so she became her visible but ghostly self and sat on Denora's slim shoulder to get a better look at the two people who would be traveling with them. "No you don't, Denora," she piped up cheerfully as soon as Denora had spoken. "You don't get along with many people at all, nope nope nope, because you're so so shyyyyy."

You are the most inconsiderate, disobedient sprite I have ever known! the druidess groused at Tallacan mentally. You would think you would learn how to mind me after all this time. Really, Tallacan -- The sprite wailed out loud so that everyone at the table could hear her as well as see her. "But I get so so booooored in the staff, Denora!" she wailed pitifully. "It's so...boring. Besides, besides, see see?" The fairy spirit flitted over to the tabletop and did a pretty little spin for the men and then bowed at all three of them. She batted her lashes and waved at Gideon and smiled charmingly at the barber. "Okay, so so nice barber man. We'll be at your shop at sundown, yep yep yep, we will."

Nicolo just looked at what was standing on the table. He had never really seen a sprite up close before, he wonted to reach out and poke her (like the pilsbary dow boy), but didn't.
He woundered if he could mentally talk to the sprit. So he tried: 'Hi there Miss Sprite. Whats your name?' Nicolo just placed his clasped hands in front of his lips as he leand on the table. Waiting to see if the sprite would answer him back mentally.

Player Info:  Everybody email me what you would stock up on in the village for determination on its availability and quantity.  After emailing you back with the results, everyone make final post in Gideon's Thread detailing your shopping spree of mundane goods ok'd in the email, and your PC's arrival back at Gideon's Shop.  A new thread will be started after that for the adventure.  Tks.
Ash Blackmane (White Wolf of the Winter Sun), Seeker-Ranger ~ ~ ~ Not often surprised, the sudden ghostly appearance of the Fairy Tree Sprite causes Ash to bolt upright from his chair, knocking it to the floor, and to boggle at her, his dark eyes grown wide.  The Tribal Ranger, amazed and slightly unnerved, uncertainly points at the diminutive Fey, and unsure if the others even saw or heard her, simply announces "Forest Spirit!  Forest Spirit watches over you!"  The Seeker reaches down, picking up the chair, and curiously studying Tallacan, never takes his eyes off of her.  He'd heard them described in stories told the Tribe Shaman, Kiro'whan, but never seen one until now.  Partly hearing Nicolo talk about mounts, the Tracker absently answers, "Yes, bring horses.  Know horses.  Will pick." and follows Tallacan's movements.  Ash, sensing that it was time to leave, gathers his gear, and suppressing his fascination about the Tree Sprite, walks toward the entrance of the inn. ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ Amused by Denora's expression, the reaction of the Ranger and Tallacan's antics, Gideon crookedly smirks, and leans down to the Tree Sprite on the table, quickly whispering "Looks like you've got a secret admirer.  I think he has the hots for you."  The Lore Master sits back in his chair with a wink at Tallacan and a nod toward Ash Blackmane, who stood pointing at her. ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ Also picking up on the end of their meeting, the Barber reaches into a belt pouch, and pulls from it a smaller, heavier pouch.  The Mocking Man lays it on the table, making a metal clinking sound, and pushes it toward Denora, telling her "Here.  There's 1000 gold in assorted coin to get you and your comrades equipped for the journey."  Gideon takes a sip of tea, and nods at Ash's remark about needing horses.  He tells them "Pay a visit to Arlen's place [4], and see what he's got on hand.  I'll see you tonight at my place for a last meal before I send you on your way." ~ ~ ~

OOC: Sorry Arienne. Nicolo spoke it out loud, when he spoke to the sprite. I'll remember to tell you in the future. He was just thinking it to hiself.

IC: Nicolo smiled when the Ranger jumped up from the table. Nicolo Just sat there waiting what the Sprite would do. He listened to the others that he needed to get a horse.

Nicolo winks at the sprit and takes his leave to pick up his horse and stuff for the road. He shows up at the barber shop two hours later. If the Baber asks why's he early. Necolo states that he has nothing else to do.

~ ~ ~ Watching the Mind Bender and Tracker depart on their own errands of preparation, Gideon waits around awhile in the common room, finishing up his tea and crumpets, before asking of the Druidess "Well, my dear, are you ready to head to the market square for a general announcement regarding the expedition, and see who might be interested?"  After the Servant of Silvanus answers him, the Lore Master collects his belongings, and goes over to Jarlosh to arrange for a sumptuous repast of vegetables, breads, meats and drinks enough for six (as a precaution) be brought to his place at sunset.  After paying in advance for the farewell meal of his stalwart adventurers, the Barber dons his black top hat and cape, and walks out of the Twisted Root, heading toward the central market and his shop. ~ ~ ~

Denora still seemed a little surprised that they had already found two people willing to go with them, but she nodded at Gideon's question. "Yes," she answered in her soft voice. Tallacan spun another circle on the table-top and almost danced for joy. "A trip, a trip! We're going on a trip, yup yup yup! Yay!" She clapped her tiny hands together and seemed jubilant. The mean look which Denora gave the mischeivous sprite said volumes without her having to say a word, mentally or otherwise. Tallacan's fairy-like wings drooped and she hung her small head, flying back to the druidess's shoulder and fading back into the steel ring around Denora's staff. The sprite spirit was quiet, for once, and Denora followed the town's barber out of the Twisted Root without another word.
