The Rift.

The result of catalysmic events powerful enough to shape the very landscape.

Now, near the seat of Elmshades ruling houses a huge sphere of hovering energy exists. It's insides are always in motion . Inside it's core is a power fueled by a thousand doors ro a million worlds. Some researchers call them frayed strands of reality. Others call them door ways to the godz. Either way one can find almost limitless power.

Let it be known no where in history has anyone ever truly harnessed the vast evergy AND lived to ell the tale.

A look of relief comes over Ravens features as Amagato begins to recover. He listens to the old man say something about a Well of Worlds and shakes his head. His eyes go to the strange fluxuating rift, wondering what magnitude of power it held... and also contemplated on wether it would save or doom Elmshade. If it were possible to harness such an anomaly, it would provide almost limitless power. He looked back to the old man and nodded... "Then we will work together, but I have limited knowledge of spacial rifts such as this. We would have to study it for a while." Looking to Vail next... "I will likely be needing your assistance for the duration of this experiment Vail... if you dont have other plans that is. Plus another mind concentrating on this project could only help."

Meanwhile at the bottom of the Mage Towers hilltop, two small figures emerge from the forest headed up the trail. Peppin and Sydney skip along, enjoying the cool winter day and singing a childrens favorite. "One two, buckle my shoe. Three four close the door..." They both laugh and giggle while licking on large lolipops Peppin bought for them at the nearby Market. The suckers are so large, one cant even see their heads while they lick them. Stopping near the bottom, Peppin looks up the hilltop twards the large fluxuating rift floating where the Ivory Tower once stood. He tilts his head in confusion and looks to Sydney... "Hey! Wasnt there three towers up there? What happened to the neat white one? ...and the scary black one is gone too. All thats left is the short grey one. Hmmm?"
He looks back up and sees Raven, Amagato, Arienne, and Vail all gathered near the rift. "Looky! Theres Amagato and Raven. Should we go say Hi?"

Sydney lapped at the giant sugar disc on a stick. She was a woodland girl and towns always held a vauge fascination for her.

Peering past the lollipop she skipped along side her bestest friend the incouragable kender Peppin.

gee, I don't know Peppy. That place feels bad. Something isn't good there. I heard some of thier houses were crushted. By a dragoon I think. Some of the big ppl sure were mad about it.

And why is Amigaito sitting in the snow? And who is that by him? Is that one of the girls from Sharloshs' house? I think her name is Pale.

That big ball of crackly stuff kinda scaries me, Peppy.

Maybe we should leave them alone. Someone has made them all grumpy. I don't want to get into trouble again today. But if you go I will to.

Vail nods to Raven planting the tip of the old blade in the soft ground near them, a faint humming resounding from the blade. "I will help in all the ways i can Master Stormcrow, I have spells aswell but i do not believe that they will be of much use." She sets Amagato down in the snow again, letting the healing liquids of Ravens potions do their work. Vail then gets up and helps Raven over to area in which the other wizard is.
(if she can see them) Vail glances up the ruined hill seeing two young figures on top of the hill, Her half elven eyes only able to identify them as children. She focuses for a minute try to identify them. "Master Stormcrow are you expecting children? I don't think its safe for them to be here, who ever they are."

Amagato thanx Vail in an offhand way. He wasn't familiar with her but he was sure to try to show his appreciation no matter how reeling he was.

As the fluids bring him back to te brink he squints to the distance. Lords no, the Lords of Luck have not been smiling on Elmshade as of late.

Children anywhere near here could be a momentous risk. Wobbling he tries to stand but cannot. He sits in the snow again and tries to regain his joint's lost strength.

He looks to Vail, My dear, would you be good enough to see those tikes to a safe place. A place fit to care for sibs such as those?

Maybe take them to the safe house where Sydney is, near the Twisted Root Inn.

Peppin smiled to Sydney and cleared some stray hairs from her face. "Of course we can go someplace else. They look buisy, and probably dont want us hangin around and gettin in their way. How about we go to the Sparring Fields and take a closer look at Amagatos neat tent he has set up there, or we can head back to the Market and get you a haircut. I hear the barber there will even put ribbons in your hair, and make you look like a princess." He grinns wide and waits for Sydney to make a choice in where to go next.

Raven nods to Vail looking pleased. "Thank you Vail. I'll reward you with a couple new spells for aiding us." Looking down the hill Raven nods as Vail and Amagato spot Peppin and Sydney at the bottom. He shakes his head... "Kender are so curiouse. Yet Peppin has a new responsibility to look after Sydney, and she is still with him. They seem to have stopped and are just looking." He looks back to Vail... "If you wouldnt mind my dear, just make sure they stay clear of here... then return as soon as you can. Amagato and I are going to remain here and study this thing for a bit." Raven then moves the animated chair closer to Amagato and offers a hand to the chair so he can use it to stable himself. "Im not sure how much longer the enchantment on this chair will last Amagato. After were finished here, perhaps we can discuss a more permenant mode of transportation for me... or even us. You should probably take it easy as well. You've been through a lot."

Amagato takes Ravens offer. By the godz! That is Sydney you say? I am weaker than I thought. Perhaps your right my friend. Maybe I should take it easy for a short spell. I'm not as capable as I once was.

I can teach you the basic dynamics of the Power Cosmic if you have the aptitude for it. We must be careful for many reasons but mainly because such raw power is known to corrupt even the most wise of sages.

Motioning to the small ppl in the distance, Yes, plz Ms Vail. Would you aid us in keeping that young girl both safe and well kept? Rising slowly he adds, I don't seem to be well enough to be very much help.

Sydney's eyes go wide at the propositions that Peppin lays out. really!

I wanna be a Princess! She dances around Pep in small circles. Her clothes pop into long fine satins and silks with trailing tresses and oversized bows. Her smile is so warm and generous it makes her pale blue eyes sparkle water. We can pretend we're King and Queen of the woods and we'll have a splendid ball. She takes to three stepping around the kender. Everywhere her feet press the snow yellow wild flowers sprout thru the white crust. We'll eat crumpets and drink tea from china from far away places. Well, for pretend anyways.

She bows and curtseys to Peppin and then her makebelieve guests. And I want lots and lots of curls! Her hair is bone straight and so blonde its nearly white. Can they do that?

We can have tes parties

"No reward is nessessary Master Raven, I'm in this just as you are. I'll return as soon as i can." with that said she retreaves the lightning Blade and sheaths it. Giving Raven and Amagato a bow and joggs off towards the direction of the children. The immence power that is being thrown about the place still amazed her junior mage mind. The power those two can weave, i wonder if there even aware of the butterfly effects that could follow with the tamporing of such elements. worry crosses her face momentarily until she gets near the curious children. Glancing over Peppin a bid she realizes he isn't a child but a halfling, well a halfling of sorts. The creature resembled a halfling but was different. coming up to the two she gives a friendly bow and has a smile run accross her face, a soft welcoming smile very similar to her fathers. "Well arn't you a pretty little princess." She says to the girl. Vail then looks to Peppin, his stature and appearance almost reminding her of her old halfling friend Gavin. "Master Raven sent me up here to get you two away from here seeing it could be dangerous." she says with a low concerned voice to Pep, trying to avoid the little one from hearing her. She then turns her attention back to the little girl, crouching down on one knee. "whats your name little one?" After receiving the name." Thats a beautiful name, a name suited for a little princess. My name is Vail, it's nice to meet you. How about we go to town and i get you something sweet, would you like that?"

Sydney watched the stranger approach. As vail comes closer the little blonde girl hides beind peppin as well as she could. Her clothes revert back to her simple single seam dress, but the fresh wild flowers remain.

It seems she likes you well enough for a half stranger, We're gunna go get hair tuts and smell goods! you wanna come too? i'll share my lollipop ifins you want. Its startin to make my tummy hurt anyways.

Hey Peppy! Do you think we can get some gooder food? Like some cheese? You want some good cheese to? I like goat cheese bestest.

C'mon nice Vail Lady. Lets go explore stuff!

Tugging at you both she faces you and walks backwards with your hands in her own small digits.

Does that sound good to you? Whatcha wanna do?

Peppin nods to Vail with a wink... "Ok, ok. How bout first we go and get you a haircut, then maybe we can visit the Tailor... and Vail can help pick out a dress with you. She is a girl after all, and would be much better at it than I would." He chuckles as Sydney bounces around him then continues... "Then after that we can go get some good hot food together. That sound ok Syd?"

Raven looks satisfied as Vail tends to the child and Kender. She would keep them from getting into trouble. He half wondered where Eragor was at, since it was he who was originally charged with watching them. He returns his attention back to Amagato and nods. "Perhaps you should rest a bit then before we begin delving into the secrets of this.. this... Well of Worlds. I could probably use a bit of training in this Power Cosmic you speak of. However do not worry yourself Amagato. I was trained well, and can well resist any sort of corruption. My goal is and always will be the safety of this village." He sigs a moment as a wave of pain comes over him. Reaching down to rub his bandaged leg stumps.. "Perhaps a visit to your tent would benefit us both. You could rest a bit, while I brew up some medication."

Vail reachs down and picks one of the wild flowers and hides it in her hand. Nodding a thank you to Peppin for helping along. "I think a haircut and some hot food would be nice. " She stands and reaches her hand down for the little girl to hold onto. "I would be honored to help you pick out a dress little one. Something elegent." she smirks." Maybe something to match that pretty little wild flower you have in your ear." She pauses for a second and reachs behind the little girls ear to pull out the hidden wild flower. Showing it to her she smiles. With that they start to walk towards the town. I wonder what all this little girl can do, Illusions are in her powers and i heard rumors of what else these powers include. She is an interesting one. She smirks at the little girl as they walk. I hope if i ever have a daughter she's this cute.

Arienne hovered in the background as Raven and Vail took care of Amagato. The elven woman gave a cautious glance at the kender and Sydney as they approached and gave an inward sigh of relief as Vail appeared to take care of them. Arienne knew what mischief kenders could cause, and she had no desire to have one anywhere near her tower, especially now that it had been restored.

After Vail and the other two had left for town, Arienne spoke to Raven and the old wu-jen. "You are both welcome to rest at Starsinger Tower. I have not been inside it yet, to see if it is indeed the way it was before the attack, but it might offer more shelter and more comfort." Thoughtfully tilting her lovely head, she dropped a wink at Raven. "Plus, you know that if my lab is still intact, you are more than welcome to use the facility, Raven. But you may both suit yourselves as to where you will be most comfortable. I must return to the tower, in any case. I will gladly help with the rift, but would like to gather a few components and anything else you think I might need, Amagato."

Giving the strange, swirling gate a wary look, Arienne turned and began to walk back to Starsinger Tower. She was anxious to see how much (if anything) had changed inside, and make sure that Viewsk, Spyke and the gargoyles would still be content to stay there. She still had enough of a connection (albeit muted) with Rashwen, and the sylvan mage knew that her lovely psuedo-dragon companion would be looking for a good place to roost when she was done capering with the charming Lockheed. Arienne also wanted a nice, long hot bath.

((Moving back to Starsinger Tower...you guys can follow if you want, or continue wherever...))

Amagato looks pretty bad. He has been looking that way alot lately.

I am endebted to you both. I shall very much like to rest and speak with you in unison.

Some large decisions shall have to be made in the very near future. Your thoughts are very important to everyone involved as we now must move on to a larger scale to protect Elmshade. I am only a servant and I cannot do more than advise.

I would not contend an extended stay at your honorable Abode Ms Arienne. Does master Raven wish different?

My camp is humble and most likely below the level of refinement you must be accustomed to. But it is yours to use as you wish anytime.

He bows slightly to you both.

Ash flakes off of him and darkens the snow.

Sydney glows with excitment, Grasping thier wrists she takes off down the hill towards town. Skipping and singing nursery rhyms as she goes she attracts whatever wildlife is around. A rabbit, a fox, some deer, and a hawk randomly circle close.

Your not sure how she knows where shes going.

Three blind mice,
Three blind mice
See how they run,
See how they run!

They all ran after
The farmer's wife
She cut off their tails
With a carving knife
Did you ever see
Such a sight in your life
As three blind mice?

I like meeces. They know good secrets. AND they like CHEESE!

Peppin giggles at Sydneys comments and lets her lead them tward town, also joining in on her song. His curiouse eyes couldnt help but glance back once more tward the top of the hill before they disappeared down the forest road.

(TBC at Gideons Barber Shop)

Raven smiles to Arienne and nods... "Thank you Lady Arienne." He then looks to Amagato.. "Well, if its ok with you, Arienne does have an excellent laboratory and her tower is quite comfortable. If nothing else we can keep a closer eye on the Rift from there and make sure nobody comes around messing with it. Actually Ive half a mind to put up a wall of some sort around it till we return later when were rested. But I can do that from her tower, and Id rather be a safe distance before casting spells too close to it.... as you might already know." He gives a friendly chuckle Amagatos way, then directs the animated chair tward Ariennes tower. He moves slowly so Amagato can also use the chair to lean on for balance if needed.

(TBC at Ariennes Tower?)

The bruised wujen blushed subtley. yes, I underestimated the power here. Such folley is foolhardy and ill advised.

I shall take your advice young master Raven. I shall rest and seek your counsel at the abode of the Mistress Arienne.

Such an evening sounds both appealing and healthy.

He goes a short distance with the aid of Ravens chair, and then has to employ his cane also.

Amagato did enjoy one thing more than any other. The old man loved to walk. His feet have carried him hundreds if not thousands of leagues. And now at this time they had time to walk a normal pace and take in the sights of a summer turned winter wonderland.
