I am in the habit of RPing ES using a real time point of view. I have several chars so I do not require one to be in multiple threads at any time.

But that is my PoV.

Before I reply a topic such as The Twisted Root  or other general post I ask if there is a Mang preferance as to my content? Normally I would introduce whomever (new-comers and intro's included) to whatever was happening at that time. IE; Half the towns Hero's and some wierd stuff for eg.

Or should I seperate the two and play one seperate from the other? Meaning I could post some friendly everday happenings instead... Like some townsfolk and the local habits.

Loki,

Ok, clarified things with A.  Mt's are totally seperate from general board things.  The only people that are in the general threads and MT's at the same time are NPC's.  The only character thats a bit iffy is Arriene, because she's in the process of being retired once everything in your MT gets resolved.  The reason for this is that we want the ES common area to be a place for some peaceful RP where people don't have to worry about battle if they don't want to.  That's the whole reason we moved your game to an MT in the first place.

The one problem we ran into is that for a time your game was on the general boards, so what is the current state of Elmshade in the general board now that your stuff is in an MT?  The only option I could think of that might work is that now the time in ES general area is years in the future of what is happening in your thread, and that your thread is sort of like a narrative explaining Elmshade's history, one that is still being written.

If we do that, then we would have to know who survived.  Reyco and Malacai still have a chance of dieing since they are going to go along and fight.  So they won't be present in the Elmshade general area until your story is resolved.    Arienne though will definitely survive if she doesn't go into any more battles, which I believe is the plan.  If that is true, she would have had a few years to rebuild Starsinger Tower, which would be easy since its in a few large pieces, and could act as an NPC in Elmshade now.

So that's what it looks like we will do.  All NPC's in Elmshade are say 5 years in the future from your current MT, including Arienne.  Malacai and Reyco won't appear since they stand a chance of dieing still.  The only thing we do want to avoid in the general boards is addressing the history that hasn't been written yet.

Ok. I understnad.

The history future thing isn't my first choice. I like the current events feeling you get from the site when everything is close to the same timeline. But that was just me.

You all have re-written much of ES and how it operates. Which is fine.

I'm not trying to change anything when I say I would have considered keeping the timing close because knowing the future (or an un-written history) is nearly impossible

You can have safe places by simply announcing them no-conflict zones. Especially the Root.

Jarlosh (and holga) should be powerful/clever enough to keep things calm in any case. That is how I designed and played them for years. He is not your run of the mill sappy shopkeep like alot of ppl expect they can order around. They have levels, items, and decent stats.

That way anyone can come or go as they plz, wether it be to or from a MT or general.

I might have suggested that if someone was to goto the Root right now there is the commotion outside, yes. But as you can see I won't let it escalate into a true moderated battle no matter how hard the players try. It may actually be fun to watch.

Inside a newcomer would simply see some local ppl going about thier business (no matter how strange that may be) and could interact or ignore them

I could understand how all that may be too much for some ppl. Esp someone w/little experiance. In any case it is of no dire consequence to me. I will post as you have all decided.

So I guess that means I usually won't be replying to anything outside of of my Mt's. I was going to help newcomers get up to speed on current events and help them into the areas they would enjoy most but the whole "today is really history" is too odd for me at this time.

Thanx for the info. Question resolved =P

Like I said, this is what we chose because it was the best thing we could come up with.  If you think your idea is a better one, the 4 of us can discuss it and decide if it is.  If you want to do this, we'll have to arrange a chat meeting time.

Like I said I wasn't interested in contending your previous decisions. I simply offer an alternative perspective in the case that said course proves to be wonting.

I will reveal that Amagato has every inntention of putting in some site wide safe guards. Between his condierable skill at spell research and the help of powerful other mages (or psions), like Ari and Raven, I can re-inforce my detail to put certain area within a "safe zone"

It was to be based on character input and finalized by my wujen (or a more competent canidate) and any one wanting to help put in place.

Most of these thouhgts were spurned by my urge to reply to Llana Which I don't belive has beeen  noticed even now

Loki,

I know the managers had planned to somehow get those kinds of wards in place, though they hadn't ironed out the details.  Amagato would probably be a big help in getting that done.

I may be quite a different player from most of you but I am more than willing to try to achieve your goals in-game.

Give me your ideas, we'll discuss, and then I can implement some of them almost immediately.

HINT- the Nexus gate I created is a bane and a boon. It can do all that you want (w/research and plotting) and also be a spring board for other semi powerful scenarios

Let me know. I'm ready to listen.
