I was thinking we should detail the inhabitants of Elmshade a little better. Get a little more of a personal feel to Elmshade. So when ppl come here they get an idea of the personalities, and habits of the more common locals in ES.
For example......
Loki an I came up with jarlosh and Hilga for the Twisted Root Tavern. For those who regularly play here they know who these ppl are, and where to find them...in the tavern. I would like to do similar things all around ES.

We already have Captain Grant for the Guards of ES, and we need to keep releventpeople to the services that can be found in ES.

We could use a Stable Master that can reshoe, and tend to the horses that constantly come down the caravan route. This person could also serve as the local smithy, able to repair small weapons and armor.

We could use a town official, such as a Mayor to tend to the political side of ES. Serve as ES Emisary, collect taxes, and keep buisness flowing in ES. That person could even be a members character, even have an election for it. Just an idea.

Heres some more ppl I thought we could do a profile on. Maybe even make a page for them all to be seen at once. Let me know what you all think. And of course it would be nice if there were pictures for them all.

HISTORY: Holga arrived not long after Jarlosh had built the tavern and has been a permanent fixture ever since. It's uncertain where she comes from, though she seems to know a lot about a lot of different things and places. No one has ever been able to discover much about her past, although honestly, few have ever really tried. Can you blame them?
PERSONALITY: Holga is heavy-set and may seem a little gruff at first, but she's an incurable flirt and loves to talk up the men-folk that visit the tavern. She's a likable enough woman, but it's uncertain exactly what race she is. She looks to maybe have some ogre or other disagreeable humanoid blood somewhere in her lineage. She's a very good cook, which is why Jarlosh hired her in the first place. Holga has a sarcastic sense of humor, and always seems to take delight in giving the large tavern/inn's owner operator grief. Although she seems rough and crude on the outside, every once in awhile someone might get a rare glimpse of the soft heart beneath the ugly exterior. She's also a talkative gossip-monger, and always seems to have the latest "news" about anyone and everyone in the village.

NAME: Mathyas Steele
Mercernary/3rd level/Neutral Good
TITLE(s):

Norwood/Son of a soldier, Sir Cuthbert Steele and his wife, Gertrude.

"Sir Mathyas," "Lord Steele"

 Mathyas claims to have had his weapons blessed by, "the most holy of priests who will ever walk this land." The righteous and honorable, "Father Duncan." Of course, whenever Mathyas drops his name at an attempt for some quick prestige, (which he tends to do often,) he seems to be the only one that has heard of this "Father Duncan," inciting the man to begin labeling those all around him heathens and philistines.

Of course the reason for Father Duncan's obscurity is because in actuality, Father Duncan was a beggar who mugged a priest and put on his robes and was about to exit said priest's temple when none other than Mathyas showed up demanding to have a blessing put upon his axe and blade. When the arrogant ex-soldier offered money, the beggar kindly obliged. Of course this fact makes none of Mathyas's possesions magic or extraordinary in any way.

Mundane Possessions: Regular sword, regular axe, sheath for sword, case for axe. Leather chest armor, leather belt with metal buckle, leather boots, cloth pants, black eyepatch. In small backpack: 20' of rope, Flint/Steel, various animal skins for sleep, flask, 2 months military food rations.

LOCATION: Building 1 on the Elmshade Map
HISTORY: Mathyas Steele was born in Norwood as the son of a human soldier in the Norwood army, Cuthbert Steele. At a young age, Mathyas was prepped by his father for military training lasting into his teens and until he was ready serve in the Norwood army. However, in what his father saw as disgraceful, Mathyas never took his service completely seriously, opting for drinking and lusting after anything in a skirt with two legs. Of course he was a ferocious warrior which kept him in the army for awhile. However, even a great warrior can overstep his boundries when he beds a General's concubine. Mathyas would have been killed by the General himself had it not been for his father's intervention. However, it was agreed upon that Mathyas no longer deserved the priviledge of military rank and was dishonorably diacharged from the military and completely ousted from Norwood, however to save face, all parties involved said Mathyas left of his own accord. However, since he was a beloved soldier no matter how much of a fool he was, a group of his fellow soldiers and companions left their ranks to follow him out of Norwood. To this day, Mathyas and his companions have been traveling as a sort of mercernary troupe, and they have wandered into Elmshade Village with hopes of landing another job.  (Soldier's Steele),
PERSONALITY: Mathyas is undoubtedly a pompous man, carrying such annoying mannerisms as insisting on being addressed as "Sir Mathyas" or "Lord Steele," bringing up his military experience with every chance he gets,, and traveling with a band of loyal followers who praise his every word and action. However, this does not make him an evil man. He is excessively friendly and trusting, which at times borders on sheer gullibility. He will almost always buddy up to someone or at least attempt to within five minutes of meeting them. Nonetheless he is by no means a "Choir boy" persay. He tends to drink too much, shoot his mouth off too often, and is quite a bit of a lech. Yet at the end of the day, there might be something about him that tells a person that he's an alright fellow.

LOCATION: Building 18 on the Elmshade Map
HISTORY: Jarlosh arrived as one of the first founders of Elmshade and decided it was a prime place to build an Inn and Tavern. With very little help and his own strength and ingenuity, he built the Twisted Root Tavern/Inn and it has become the mainstay for the village locals and travellers, alike. He loves his Inn and loves the people he interacts with on a daily basis and anyone who has ever become belligerent or drunk and stupid enough to challenge him has soon found out that it's best to stay on his good side.
PERSONALITY: Jarlosh is a beefy, bald middle-aged giant of a man with thick biceps from heavy lifting and a round belly from too much good food and ale. Like the main barmaid, Holga, he's also gruff on the outside and doesn't take any sh*t from anyone, although he's wise enough to know when to walk away from a fight.  That hasn't happened very often, thanks to his intimidating presence and overall tough demeanor. Jarlosh doesn't care for Magic or those who use it, and has very strict rules about spell-casting inside the Twisted Root. In short, anyone who does so is thrown out, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Any trouble-makers in his Inn are swiftly dealt with, in one manner or another. He's actually a kind man, but has no patience for rudeness, stupidity or laziness and is always willing to voice his opinion. Those in search of information might do better by asking Holga, but Jarlosh is full of local legends and stories to entertain guests by the fire at night.

I know i'm not a manager but no one ever told me about this post. this comes in handy. . When ever this whole war is over i wanted to know if Kaze survives if we can make a fruit orchard and if i can open Frost up a shop here. He can make magical equiptment. He is a blacksmith, but everything he makes is magic and i can make some very interesting things. I would like to know if that would be allowed. although that i don't so much care about frosts shop, but i would like a Fruit orchard for Kaze if that would be cool.

other ideas for buildings could be.
 Monastary
an alchemist shop (Components, Elements, potions, est.)
a general store (if we don't have one.)
an Academy
jewelery shop
gambling house
treasury
scribe shop
library (if we don't have one)
moneylender
tailor
and a money changer if need be

some of these we may have. i hope maybe i helped with some of these.

Jarlosh.

I first concieved him as a bartender capable of creating a neutral atmoshpere for characters to mingle in where the more powerful pc's were forced to roleplay with lesser leveled players as equals. Jarlosh has the means to detect and counter most any magical or psionic power that he (the DM) deems disruptful.

He is strictly a player NPC used for rolepaying or as a Dm tool. Anyone can use him but no-one can abuse him.

Hailing from a shrouded plannar background Jarlosh has a history steeped in interplanetary commerce. For years he was a worm-hole trader plying his wares on the ten planes of the astral sea between Sigil and the Outer and Inner planes between the Primes. The leather necked merchant has seen his share of action because he also owned and operated the massive Crossroads Inn located in the  lower wards of Sigil where he commisioned trade routes into the various realms. Nevermind that the Crossroads was also the chosen seat of the local thieves and organized assasins guild.

Eventually leaving the intense life of a trader house coucil Baron he dissappeared with an immense sum of money and goods to some unknown locale where he lives the life of a seeming simpleton. Tales of Jarlosh beating a Tannari Prince nearly to death with his own scepter are still unproven to this day.

Beneath his thick oaken bar top a few remnants of those times remain. Hidden away in his personal dimensional vault he can conjure up several items: like his octagon barelled arquebus of psionic/magical disjunction (designed to destroy/nullify all psi and magical powers/items in its blast range and destroty them permanently) and  brass knuckles of spell storing (contains an mass-load of granted spells and powers from some pleased clients including Krenteel the White and high Bishop Tarbus Izzlerod)

It is rumored that Jarlosh's lineage can be traced back to an outlaw raiding orc tribe that assaulted the longshore pioneers of the ethreal shores. Dark times indeed for that area.

This may explain his natural mix of above average strength and incredible willpower. A mixing of those bloods have produced some interesting offspring.

Jarlosh has shown an uncanny resistance to anything affecting his constitution or mental faculty. No amount of alcohol seems to impair him nor does any form of suggestion seem to sway his decisions. Everything from vampires, to dwarven lagers,  to psionic warriors have little to no affect on the barrell chested barkeep of Elmshade.

Any conversation asking about any past martial relation will be quickly and abrubtly ended by any number of means. It is the one thing his wagging tongue doesn't carry on about.

The last person to show up to the Twisted Root Tavern with wanted posters from th Inner rings describing a man called Godfather Ivan dissappeared without a trace.

TITLE(s):

Barber (Pubically), Gossip Monger (Loremaster)

Behind the Scenes:

  • Information Broker (Thieves Guild Representative);
  • Appraiser of Objets de Art (charges 10% fee on value of items appraised);
  • Dealer in Rare Antiquities and Unique Items [aka Fence (haggles at 1/3rd value, buys at 1/2 value, sells at full value) and Smuggler (10% commission on value of item, increasing with any special transportation requirements or security considerations)]
LOCATION: Building 28 on the Elmshade Map
HISTORY: Several days prior to the dismissal and banishment of Captain Grant and his men from Elmshade (Soldier's Steele), two heavily laded wains each pulled by four large draft horses arrived in the night escorted by those very same men to the vacant building at the southern edge of the town plaza.  By dawn of the next day, the empty wains were neatly parked behind the building, the draft horses placidly exploring the new corral, and a new shop had opened its doors to the citizenry of Elmshade with a wooden sign swing over head out into the plaza depicting a straight razor crossed against a set of scissors and comb.  Interior decor is almost represenative of an art gallery, metropolitan library or museum of fine antiquities by way of displayed objets de art and written works (tomes, scrolls, books etc).
PERSONALITY: Very Persuasive, Social and Talkative (CHR 17); Brit accent; Gives everyone the time of day, and will talk up anyone who sits in his chair; Seems knowledgeable on a wide array of subjects; Can push peoples' buttons to create hostility and violence with innuendo and perceptions (think Stephen King's Needful Things).
