Location: Secluded Forest Farmstead.  Post transcribed from chat.
Hi’el-Forest: Billowing from somewhere in the distant forest comes thick dark smoke pluming up from top of the canopy.
Hi’el-Rider: Returning from his border post for some much needed R&R, the Cavalier Celebril rides on his heavy war horse back to Elmshade, his home.
Hi’el-Time: Its early morning, the sun has just crested the horizon.
Hi’el-Farmstead: Tessa left behind the burning farm and the cellar where the condor woman went to drop one of her beads.
Hi’el-Tessa: Somewhere along her flight she left behind the minotaur and silenni who'd turned to watch the out come of the next blast.
Tessa rides now, towards the small village, hoping to rally allies to help defend this place from the hoardes of unnatural enemies.
Hi’el-Celebril: As he's riding through the forest toward the village, he see's a woman on horseback riding hard through the forest almost parallel to the trail he's on.
Hi’el-Location: Celebril and Tessa are half a day's ride from the village.
Celebril is eager to end this patrol and go home, but he'd feel bad not investigating everything, so he alters course slightly towards the woman
Tessa is a slight, fair skinned young woman, of about 18-19 years. She has long, blonde hair, light green eyes and a smattering of freckles on her delicate face. She wears fine, blue robes, but all of her is extremely messy right now, and she looks harried.
Hi’el-Chase: Tessa's mount already tired from a night of riding and now flight, is easily over taken by Sir Celbril's mount.
Tessa also looks frightened and tired, her eyes haunted from things she had never wished to see. She is not paying much attention to what's around her, being intent on making the village before dark.
Celebril is a heavily armed knight, he's about 191 cm, 189 yrs of age and half-elf. He wears no helmet at the moment, and his long straight, blond hair falls around his armor
Celebril (shoulder length, which I consider long)
Hi’el-Game: Both Tessa and Celebril roll a % dice.
Tessa looks around in surprise and drawing a dagger, already slick with blood and goop from undead. She almost cries out upon seeing someone else, at first thinking it to be another undead, just for a moment, then realizing this one is flesh and blood.
Celebril: 47%))
Tessa: (% roll 38%)
Hi’el-Sight: Both riders gazes meet at almost the same moment.
Tessa "Oh, sir! 'Tis good to see a living man again...beware the forest, there are awful things round these parts!" she calls to him in alarm and relief.
Celebril: What inhabits the forest that would put you in such a state?
Tessa slows her horse and waits for him to catch up, still seeming somewhat nervous. Up close, he can tell that she would be rather pretty, if she weren't covered in slime and such.
Tessa sighs and looks at him. The words fall from her lips in a quiet tone, almost a whisper. "Undead," she says simply.
Celebril "Undead?" he frowns, "How many roam the forest?"
Tessa shakes her head and glances in disgust at her own appearance. "No telling, sir. My comrades and I slayed many, but still they came." She points back in the direction of the farmhouse. "Back that way, in an old house that now burns, there were many."
Celebril: "Comrades? They still live and breathe I hope. Where are you headed now?"
Hi’el-Smoke: The scent of smoke lingers about the woman, and in the heights of the forest whisps of smoke creep.
Celebril glances nervously at the smoke rising from the forest
Tessa "They lived and breathed, last I saw. I had to leave to try and find more help. I do not know what has become of them, now." She shifts on her horse and rubs at her face, tiredly. "They would stay and watch it burn, but I...." she looks at him, uncertainl
Tessa y. "I had to get away."
Celebril: 's face softens. "I understand, how far away is this house? I'll need to check on that fire."
Hi’el-Distance: Tessa rode for almost an hour before encountering the Cavalier so about 5 miles.
Tessa seems to think a moment, and grits her teeth, nodding as if in decision. She turns her horse back the way she had just come from and shakes her head, with yet another sigh. "I will take you. It is about 5 miles from here."
Celebril: I thank you, I can't leave the forest in such peril with good conscience
Celebril turns his warhorse around and awaits tessa to lead
Tessa nods. "nor I, but if you had seen what I have...." she lets the thought trail off, knowing he WILL see it soon enough, and she will, too, now, all for conscience, all for goodness....
Tessa turns the horse and begins to nudge it back towards the smoke in the distance.
Celebril follows closely behind, keeping somewhat alert to what's ahead
Hi’el-Ride: The return to the farmstead goes uneventfully.
Tessa looks back at him as she rides and says quietly, "I am Tessa, by the by. Have you a name, kind sir?"
Hi’el-Farmstead: Breaking through the woods, the former house is fully engulfed in flames. The separation between the forest and structure has prevented the flames from reaching the forest.
Celebril: I am Celebril, a cavalier charged with patrolling this forest
Celebril rides around the farmhouse, checking to make sure flaming debree doesn't drift into the forest
Tessa nods with a very faint smile. "I wish we had met under better circumstances." She looks around for Hi’el or Riddik, or even the green woman, but sees no sign of any of them. She frowns and bites at her bottom lip nervously, keeping her eyes also peeled for more undead.
Hi’el-Farmstead: The barn is untouched by flames, and the entrance to the cellar is aflame. However the giant zombie and skeleton still standing outside the entrance are mostly unscathed.
Hi’el-Farmstead: Their is no sign of the rest of her party. Either the condor woman, the minotaur nor Hi’el.
Tessa 's green eyes get wide and she struggles against the fear as she sees the giant zombie. She quickly gathers the last of the fire beads in hand, ready to launch them at anything that tries to attack her. She also quickly looks for her newest ally, Celebri
Celebril takes the helmet strapped to his side and places it over his head. He snaps the visor shut and comes back around to Tessa
Celebril: which is more of a threat Tessa?
Hi’el-Monsters: The two nasties remain immobil outside the cellar entrance.
Celebril's voice rings unafraid from beneath the helmet
Tessa shakes her head and shudders a bit. "Probably the giant zombie, but 'ware, Celebril. Their touch is deadly."
Celebril lowers his lance and prepares to charge "how so?"
Tessa looks down at the beads in her hand, and wishes she had a better way to help him fight them. "The zombie will turn you to one like it, and the skeletons' touch is like inner ie," she tried to explain.
Tessa *ice^
Celebril: with one hit?
Tessa shakes her head. "No, not that I have seen, but take care, nonetheless, sir. I have fire to aid you, but you must be out of range when I use it, or you will ignite just like them."
Tessa shows him the beads.
Celebril "well noted" knees the horse into a full sprint towards the large zombie, his lance lowered and a warcry ringing through his lungs
Tessa "These seem to work very well against them, but all else I have is my staff and dagger, I am out of magic this day, I fear." She hangs her head, ashamed that she cannot do more.
Hi’el-Game: BEGIN COMBAT
Celebril: (8 on a d20 for init, if it matters)
Hi’el-Game: ROUND 1. Celebril roll to hit, d20.
Tessa looks up again to see him gone and charging . She reins her horse through the forest to try and watch the battle, and ready to rush in and help, if able.
Celebril: (lol, a dang 5)
Celebril: (6 with my class bonus)
Tessa: (are we not using d10 for init? btw?)
Hi’el-Game: Initiatives when required will be rolled with a d10.
Celebril: (no clue, thanks.)
Celebril: (I'm a moronic 3e gamer, please correct me with any of the mistakes I'm bound to make)
Hi’el-Combat: Galloping down upon the two giant monstrosities, the Cavalier's mount shy from the smoke and flames causing the tip of his lance to swing wide during his pass. However, zombie wasn't so bad at it's swipe [hit 17] smashing its fists against ...
Celebril: (told ya Hi’el, evil evil evil dice))
Hi’el-Combat: ...the hindquarters of his mount [11hps].
Hi’el-Game: Celebril roll d20 for horsemanship check.
Celebril: (14)
Hi’el-Mount: Celebril's horse goes down and him with it. He lands hard on the ground [2hps] on his back having the air slightly knocked out of him.
Hi’el-Game: END ROUND 1. BEGIN ROUND 2. Roll for initiative. d10 low is good.
Tessa sees this and gasps, knowing she cannot hang back and delay any longer. She kicks her horse forcefully, riding up to help her new friend, if possible. (Init roll 6)
Celebril: (1, I swear)
Hi’el-Game: Sequence of action, even on his back Celebril take action, Tessa and the monster zombie are in competition for who does what next on 6, the monster zombie last.
Celebril clambers to his feet, drops the lance, and grabs his morningstar off his horse
Hi’el-Correction: Monster Skeleton on 6.
Hi’el-Situation: Celebril is doing the turtle shell roll over to climb to his feet, and staggers to his horse (still alive) to grab his morning star. Coming up behind the cavalier approaches the skeleton with a blackened club. Tessa will reach him at the ...
Hi’el-Situation: ...same moment. Behind comes the zombie moving slowly.
Tessa tries to ride between the Skeleton and the cavalier, shouting, "Look out!" at Celebril, and taking her staff from her side to hopefully parry anything the skeleton might aim at her.
Hi’el-Combat: The skeleton intent on attacking the tin can doesn't see Tessa coming at it.
Hi’el-Combat: Tessa roll a d20.
Tessa: (11)
Hi’el-Giant Skeleton: The club sweeps down from on high [hit 15] clips the back of the cavalier left leg [5hps]. Tessa shouts her warning, and manages to leap her horse over the club of the giant skeleton. The giant zombie comes around behind the skeleton..
Celebril: ((18hp, darn))
Hi’el-Giant Zombie: attempting to smash the tin can [11 hit] and misses pulverizing the metal clad elf.
Tessa (be thankful you have that many left. T has 5 left, I think she shouldn't even be fighting )
Hi’el-Combat: END ROUND 2. BEGIN ROUND 3. Roll initiative.
Celebril: (Dangit, we need a cleric or healer or something!)
Tessa: (Init roll 4)
Celebril: (well, it was 1 on a d20, but a 4 on d10 ((DARNIT!)))
Hi’el-Combat: Initiative Giant Skeleton (3), Tessa (4), Celebril (4), Monster zombie last. Take action.
Hi’el-Giant Skeleton: The bone beasty whips its club up and smacks the knight [19 hit] smacking him across the back of his right shoulder [6 hps].
Tessa sees him get hit and tries to smash the knee of the giant skeleton with her staff, hoping to at least cripple it a little. (d20 roll: 17! whooo)
Celebril grunts angrily, he whips around swinging wildly at the zombie (d20 roll, 14, 6 dmg if I hit)
Tessa (3 pts. dmg roll on a d4, btw)
Celebril: (2+4=6 heh heh)
Hi’el-Combat: The staff strikes the bone guy in the left hand, cracking the bones and dropping the giant club. The morningstar plows the zombie in the left leg striking almost solidly.
Hi’el-Giant Zombie: The rotting black humanoid which use to be a hill giant bleeds black stinking blood and thumps the cavalier [16 hit] striking him across the other shoulder [4hps].
Hi’el-Combat: END ROUND 3. BEGIN ROUND 4. Roll Initiative.
Tessa: (init roll: 8 grrrrr)
Celebril: (BLOODY 4's !)
Hi’el-Combat: Initiative GT Skeleton (3), Cavalier (4), Tessa, and Zombie. Skeleton's on a roll. Zombie don't look so good. Take action.
Hi’el-Giant Skeleton: The bony guy again takes a swipe with the club but this time at the pesky mage beating its knee caps badly missing [hit 3]. She feels the wind of the club wooshing past her HEAD.
Celebril takes another swing at the zombie before moving close to Tessa protectively
Celebril: (10 on d20, 3+3=6 on dmg if I hit)
Tessa swings again with her staff to try and hit the skeleton's knee again, whiirling the horse around for a better angle. (To hit roll: 7...damn.)
Hi’el-Combat: The cavalier's swing goes wide missing the slow moving zombie.
Hi’el-Combat: As does the mage's swing, she misses hitting the lower chest of the walking calcium deposit. The zombie comes on after the tin can, and uses him to plow the earth [19 hit] smashing him in the upper back [4hps].
Hi’el-Game: HP check Celebril.
Celebril: 4hp))
Celebril: (dead as a doorstop, at least by next turn)
Tessa (let's get the f*ck outta dodge, eh? hint hint nudge nudge)
Celebril: (damn cavaliers, death before dishonor and all that bunk)
Celebril: (feel free to run, If I survive another hit I'll run and take my first of 3 strikes on my code of honor)
Hi’el-Combat: Two arrows sprout from the back of the monster zombie [17 and 15 hit]. It collapses behind the knight.
Hi’el-Combat: END ROUND 4. BEGIN ROUND 5. Initiative.
Tessa: (Init roll: 3! Yes!)
Celebril: (5, darn my luck!)
Hi’el-Situation: The Monster Zombie dropped from 2 arrows to the back launched by the Silenni standing 200 paces distant near the tree line.
Tessa (*calvary music )
Hi’el-Combat: Initiative Tessa, then simultaneous by Celebril, Skeleton and Hi’el. Take action.
Tessa sees the arrows and looks around, but then focuses on the skeleton again, and trying to get the 2 of them out of there before they get killed. She yells at Celebril, "We need to fall back and regroup to heal a little bit! I can't last much longer!" She offers him her hand to help him up to her horse, if he will take it.
Celebril growls in fierce annoyance, but dashes back to his own horse and mounts (assuming I can, and that this trained warhorse didn't run off)
Hi’el-Pre-Initiative Arrow: The Shadoweir looses the first of three arrows at the monster skeleton. It skips off the beasties breast bone (say that 3 times fast) [13hit, 3 hps].
Hi’el-Game: The Cavalier needs a new horse it will not be able to stand or carry him. This is self evident. Alternate course of action.
Celebril (okay, dang) grudgingly grabs her hand, and mounts up on the horse (tess's)
Tessa nods as soon as he is up behind her and kicks the horse away from combat, hoping the horse can carry them both...it should be able to, she is slight in weight, although he is heavier in such heavy armor.
Celebril: 58kg, w/o the armor for me))
Hi’el-Arrows: Two more arrows plow into the giant skeleton [2 x 19 hits] and as before riccochet of the hard bones [3 and 4 hps].
Hi’el-Game: Tessa roll d20... um, Str check or horsemanship.
Tessa: (d20 roll: 14)
Celebril: (wow, me too I think)
Tessa: (guess she's just trying to stay horsed then, hm? lol)
Tessa: (str = 11, so she failed her Str check)
Tessa: (dex = 15 though, just in case )
Hi’el-Horsemanship: Tessa tries her best to get the heavy knight up into the saddle behind her. All the other soldiers made it look so easy... but she suddenly finds herself pulled from her saddle as easily as a petal from a rose.
Hi’el-Game: Celebril, roll to catch the young maiden falling from the saddle. D20
Celebril: (ah dangit!)
Celebril: (5)
Celebril: (he's certainly gallant, dead, but gallant)
Tessa "Oooof! Oh!" she cries, falling from the horse.
Hi’el-Caught: Celebril finds himself holding the young woman in his arms.
Tessa smiles and turns her green eyes up to him, blushing from embarrassment that she was not strong enough to pull him to the horse. "Thanks," she smiles at him, then sets about getting back on her feet again.
Hi’el-Giant Skeleton: Is busy picking up it's club with the other arm.
Hi’el-Combat: END ROUND 5. BEGIN ROUND 6. Initiative.
Celebril: (8, I'm so friggen DEAD!)
Tessa: (init roll: 5)
Hi’el-Pre-Initiative Arrow: (Um, whoops) The Silenni tries to release another arrow at the skeleton.... (one moment for critical fumble roll)
Hi’el-Game: Tessa roll me a %.
Tessa: (84%)
Hi’el-Fumble: The Silenni's string breaks on his pull. No further attacks.
Hi’el-Combat: Initiative Tessa, then both the Cavalier and Skeleton simultaneous. Take action..
Hi’el "By Mielikki! No!" curses the Shadoweir
Tessa tries to remount the horse and get it under control to take off when the cavalier is aboard, too. She looks back at him, desperately and then her green eyes light up as she hears a familiar voice.
Celebril: (Now for my calvary, I hope)
Hi’el-Combat: Cavalier and Skeleton simultaneous. Take action..
Celebril: (oh, right)
Celebril: takes a swing before mounting the horse (unless mounting takes too long, then forget the attack)
Celebril: (attack 16, dmg 3)
Hi’el-Combat: The skeleton and the knight trade blows. The skeleton lands a blow on the Knight's shield scrapping off some of the enamel from the family crest. The knight smashes the skeleton in the lower chest with the morning star and it disintegrates ...
Celebril: (CHEERS!)
Hi’el-Combat: ...into fly bone fragments all around the two adventurers.
Hi’el-Combat: END COMBAT.
Hi’el-Forest: Returning home after a long year of defending the borders of the forest from brigands and goblin-kind, Tarail rides toward ELmshade. As he nears to within half a days ride from the village, he spots a large plume of black smoke billowing up from the forest.
Tessa sighs in relief and looks over at the cavalier, seeing his wounds are grevious. She looks around for the Selenni, too.
Hi’el busily restrings his bow at the forest's edge.
Celebril gets off and slumps next to his fallen horse
Tarail sees the smoke rise up and doesnt think that is such a good sign and he turns his horse to ride in that direction to check it out
Hi’el-Horse: The cavalier's horse will have to be put down unless it gets healed (and maybe the knight also)
Tessa calls to Hi’el. "Hi’el! Thank the Gods! Where is Riddik?!" She gets off of her horse, wearily, and wishes she had something to help the fallen knight ease his pain.
Celebril: (ha ha ha, I don't find that funny)
Celebril: (that's what I have my Bob and Tom Cd's for, don't make me sing anything though)
Hi’el approaches the duo with his bow re stringed and tells Tessa "I got him to a safe spot for healing. He took some herbs I prepared to help him heal. They caused him to fall to sleep. The same goes for Trealina." He eyes the black entrance to the cellar.
Celebril gently rubs the horses neck, and begins to undo his helmet
Hi’el-Farmstead: Tarail smells the smoke strongly as he rides through the forest. In only a short while an hour he comes out of the forest to find a farmstead in flames and a group of people gathered near a ground cellar.
Tessa nods at the Selenni and introduces the cavalier with a soft voice. "This is Sir Cerebril. He helped me survive, and he is dire hurt. Can you not help him, good, fair Hi’el Troiye?" She beseeches him with her light green eyes.
Tarail looks at the people near the cellar, still on his horse "Hello, something wrong?"
Hi’el looks at the cavalier and then at Tessa to say "We should get away from here. This is not the place for me to be trying to heal anyone."
Celebril takes the sword off the horse, attaches the morningstar to his side, and draws the blade
Tessa nods and looks up as the stranger enters the scene. She tries to help Cerebril to his feet, so that they may be away from the cold, dank darkness of the yawning cellar door. She wonders if there are more below and shivers.
Hi’el looks at the source of the voice, and helps Tessa with the knight. He calls to the new comer "Yes, your help would be greatly appreciated. We have a wounded man. Get over here."
Tessa "Yes, let us be away from this foul place." she says quietly.
Celebril: Tararil, what're you doing here?
Tarail: Cerebril? Is that you?
Tarail hops off his horse and walks over to him
Celebril: barely
Tessa looks at the two men, oddly. "You two know one another, then?"
Celebril: yeah
Tarail nods to Tessa "Yes ma'am.... what can I do to help?"
Hi’el declares "Gentlemen, now is not the time for a reunion! Let's get out of here!"
Celebril: well said, where to?
Hi’el pushes the wounded Knight into the newcomer's hands, telling them "Follow me."
Tessa nods and remounts, following the Selenni where he would lead them.
Celebril whispers to Tararil
Hi’el turns and heads towards the woods west of the Farmstead. He moves out at fast pace... by now the two newcomers have noticed the one called Hi’el wasn't human or elf...
Tarail nods to Cerebril and goes over to Cerebril's wounded horse and unsheaths his sword, trying to kill it in one swift slice
Hi’el-Silenni: Is a horse variant of a Satyr.
Hi’el-Death Blow: The Cavalier's horse goes quickly to the Beast Lands with the strike of the sword.
Hi’el pauses at the wood line to wait for the others.
Tarail sheaths his sword quickly and hops back onto his mount, holding out a hand to Cerebril to pull him up also
Tessa catches up to Hi’el and turns to wait with him, thinking and taking a heavy sigh, feeling very tired.
Celebril gets onto the horse, after grabbing up his helm and preparing to ride (sheathe/store weapons and such)
Hi’el-Game: Celebril and Tarail catch up to the others.  The burning farmhouse does not appear to be a threat to the surrounding forest or fields.
