It’s said "We do not remember days, we remember moments..."
Have you ever had a perfect moment?
When you wanted to just freeze time?
Can you remember just one second
that you forever claimed as thine?
If, when given the choice to re-live,
is there one that shines above them all?
One single, captured span of life,
precious memory you can recall?
‘Tis true we can’t go back again,
though the mind will reminisce,
will sometimes spark in the careworn heart
a light we’d forgotten we miss.
Why ponder such things, you may ask?
And I cannot rightly say.
I only know I philosophize this life,
analyze what things hold sway.
One endless, perfect moment true,
to re-visit when days seem dim.
To lift me up and fly with wings,
when the present seems too grim.
There’s only been one for me, my friends,
that came close to perfection of truth.
A crystal moment of clarity and peace,
lost now, in the pages of youth.
We flew like an eagle, my father and I;
soaring weightless above all the world.
So high, I felt I could touch God’s face,
and the joy in my soul was unfurled.
I wonder at that memory,
when I was twelve, and did not know
what hardships life would bring to me;
how much, my friends, I’d have to grow.
So I cling to that remembered dream,
when we floated in a careless void of blue,
my one, single, perfect moment, caught...
Ever cherished, and always held true.
