How easy, effortlessly simple

to be caught up in the moment.

To be, to exist

in the ever-changing present.

Never having to worry

about tomorrow

or the past.

Never knowing what

the future brings,

or which breath might be our

last.

No plans, no dreams,

no anxiety,

beyond what happens now.

From second to second,

from minute to hour,

exist and be,

somehow.

Closer to the

ending,

firmly rooted in today.

Whatever happens next

this will shall always find a way

to be here.

Incessant time ticks by

marking all that I have done.

Making notes of what

I haven’t,

pausing starts

before they’re begun.

Is it possible to be content

while striving for the future?

To be happy

while working towards

something better...

Always pounded by the idea

that now

is never

enough.
