Perhaps this is a good place to air my dismay.     I fear I need a potion to continue with my character addition to your world.

I have tried in vain to put a bio on your list.  Several times. Through the months.  When I enter the data into the skinny typing fields it posts as a horrible side scroll.

The 'old' format is easier to follow but it has been corrupted by too large entries and thus also has a horrible side scroll on the resulting pages.  I can't see anyone wandering through there.

the link for the 'example' for the newer format is not working.

Also the 'how to add' is more a how to create.  I have her created that part is easy but the adding is not at all pleasing to look at when finished.

I have to say that both lists formats are very user unfriendly.  I am not new to the use of MSN lists but seem to either have a plain mental block with yours or just an aversion to lists that trail off screen and then a mental block

Llana,

We're actually going to be getting rid of that part of the sight soon.  We've pretty much come to the decision that no one needs to see your character sheet other than you and your DM DM.  If anyone else wants it, they should ask.

However, you might want to still post your character's background and things of that nature.  I'd suggest typing something up and putting it in the narrative threads.

Llana,

I forgot to mention that the other people that need to see your character sheet are the managers.  Before bringing a character into Elmshade, please send a copy of their charactersheet to us at [email protected] for approval.  We do this to stop people from bringing in characters with all 18's for stats and 829427 magical items.

Reyco,

I may be in Iraq, and am still very much a part of this site even though my optempo prevents me from participating to the degree I would like.  That being said.  A great many people have gone to the trouble of learning how to put their characters on the bio page, and is a great show of creativity and D&D professionalism on the part of those who have described their characters.

The bios page stays apart of this site, and will not be deleted or hidden.

Thanks,
HT

Llana, hello

My email address is listed at the bottom of the 'how to enter a character page', and still works.  If you haven't solve the problem of entering your character, I could help you easily solve that problem.

No one has to enter their characters on the Friends and Family page, unless requested by a DM.  There are other options as Reyco mentioned, such as starting a thread dedicated to your character.

In any case, do not feel daunted or frustrated.  Go with what you're comfortable with doing, and have fun.

Welcome to Elmshade.
Hi'el Troiye

OK,  thanks guys for the replies.  I have sent her off to the managers for her approval.   There is no DM involved with Llana.   I have been a member here for 6 months and my character was  recently been summoned by another character (Kaze of the multitude magic items infamy) and I have decided to roleplay a bit.  Her habitat will be on the Apple Orchard farm where the retired mage lives.

Hiel,

First off, we're not deleting it, we're hiding it.  That way, people who are still active on the site and want their characters to be displayed can still take the information from the current format and post it in a narrative thread.  The problem with the current format is that it is so large that it is very hard to navigate.  this wouldn't be such a problem if all the characters in it were still active, but many people who've played them haven't been seen or heard from in a long time.  For example, to view one my characters you have to click through 7 or 8 pages or something like that before you can get to it.

This decision was made as a team (Arienne, Malacai, and I) and is not to be discussed on the boards here, just like all managerial decisions are not to be discussed on these boards.  We discuss these things on our managers group, which isn't viewable unless you are a member of it.  This has been a new development since you've been over seas, I know.

Since you are part of the managerial team that is on "leave" from the site (ironic isn't it), I would make you part of the managers group, but I can't invite you because I don't have your e-mail and it's not in the contact list of the manager e-mail account.  Could you please put it in your msn profile or send us an e-mail at [email protected] so I have it?

Please Hiel, in the future, e-mail problems you have with any decisions we make so we don't have to clog up the boards with it.  Like I sad, you are part of the team and we do value your input.  We look forward to you getting back and being more involved.

Thanks,
Reyco
Assistant Manager
