Instead of dedicating a whole board to this, we decided to make it a thread instead and keep things less "cluttered".

If you are a member here and have any suggestions to management that you think would improve the site, overall, please feel free to post your concerns here. We'll take a look, vote on them and then changes may be possible.

If you have problems with any or all of the rules we have here, or how things are done here at Elmshade, this is the place to air your grievances and complaints. It has been pointed out that some feel like the members here have no voice, so as of right now, I am rectifying that situation.

We recognize that some members may not be happy with the current state of affairs of the site, and would like to address any and all complaints with a fair and balanced response. If you are upset, please try to keep your posts at least respectful and as mature as possible. This is not an invitation for tantrums or name-calling, but rather, a legitimate place for the members to have a voice in how the site operates.

That being said, fire away.
~ Arienne

Yeah, I think breakfast in bed and a daily massage would be cool. And while your at it, I'll take a million dollars too.

I'm not deleting the post above so that there is an example of what we don't want.  In most threads we managers love tomfoolery and quirky sarcasm just as much as the next guy.  But, in this thread, we want only serious suggestions and not those things I just mentioned.

Please keep all discussions in this thread on topic.

Thanks,
R

Well, if I need a pencil sharpened... I know where to go.

Generally I think Coris doing a great job here. Boards have been tweaked, and useless stuff trashed. I think the site just needed a little cleanup, everything else looks fine. I would however talk to some asst managers about "Over reacting". A similar situation happened with Loki recently, and I think a little more "Mind your own buisness" is in order. As long as members arent openly swearing, or breaking the rules... then Ass. Managers should just keep out of members threads all together.

The reason Im posting this, is in reaction to the above post. I mess around with Cori occasionally, but were friends so Reyco should just BUTT OUTT!!

This suggestion thread is a suggestion to all managers, it's not just A's thread.  I was simply responding to what I thought was appropriate for this discussion and for once I think messing around isn't.  This thread is a perfect example of where I shouldn't just butt out.  It's a thread for construtive criticism not things like "Mind you own business" or "Butt out".  It's exactly the opposite, this thread is everyone's business and everyone should be in on discussion here an act like mature adults when they are doing so.  Your first post was in no way contructive.

Since you are A's friend, you should know she isn't around as much as she would like and us Assistant Managers have to step up in her place at times.  I thought this was one of those times.

And if you are going to be bringing up the situation with Loki that has long since been resolved, I remember you over reacting then as well.  We all do it.  This wasn't one of those times that I did so.

All I'm asking is we keep this thread on topic and serious so it can be as productive as possible.

Reyco is correct that I wanted this to be a more 'serious' thread re: suggestions for the site and therefore, addressed to all managers, not just me, but it's also true that Raven and I are friends and I know that he meant no harm.

Thank you, Reyco, for answering the post when I was not around and keeping it 'on topic'.

Raven, would you settle for a breakfast at the Inn, a massage by Holga and a million gp?  You don't have to answer here on this thread, but rather, I'll e-mail ya, ok?

Peace you guys.

I suggest someone go thru the banners and delete those old crappy links to dead end sites that don't have anything going on or are gone alltogether. Let's link to something worthwhile. Like Aqua Teen Hunger Force or Global Warming fact checks.

You might as well link up with some sucessful RPG sites or at least have clicks to whoever wins whatever award you enter in. I would check out sites that won some stuff. Maybe some interface with them would bring some new friends over?

Time to Nuke the "Chat Room Board"?

I understand there is no more chat. So it stands to reason

Can anyone make the numbers bigger on the map. I have rouble reading that thing. It's cool in theory but in use it's a little sketchy.

I've disappeared a couple times and so have some players. What's your opinion of an amount of time that signifies someone just isn't coming back to post.

I think after a couple weeks someone should know something.

In my humble opinion, these rules present a safe-guard to the posting etiquette.

1. After a week of not posting, the DM is permitted to ghost your character along as appropriate, only having them act/interact when absolutely essential to their survival.

2. After two weeks of not posting, the DM will remove the character from the general area and an email will be sent to the player.

3. After three weeks of not posting, nor receiving a response from said player, the DM has the right to remove the player from the game temporarily (an extended potty break...a romp on the town...comes down with the plague...etc).

4. After four weeks straight of no postings, the DM has the authority to remove said character from the game permanently by whatever method they deem necessary (potty break gone bad....death from the plague...etc)

This relates to when a player doesn't contact the DM.  Usually a courtesy email such as "I'll be slow and/or unable to post for X amount of time; please ghost me along as necessary."  will be sufficient.  It's a good courtesy to the DM and the other players who are waiting patiently for the game to move along.  This way the character sticks around, things move along, and the player resumes posting as soon as they are able.

Like-wise, if the DM isn't able to meet some posting etiquette requirements (once a week is the norm I see), it would be nice if s/he could notify the players ahead of time.

These are all general guidelines.  This is the real world, $h!t happens occassionally; nothing we can't deal with.

Babble over.

M.

I updated the banner page, as requested.

I'll talk to the other managers re: The Chat Room Board.

I can't make the numbers on the map any larger. I've tried. Sorry. It has to do with the program I used to create it, and then MSN "shrinks" the image to "fit". Again, sorry about that.

As for time-frame reference on players and DMs, I agree with Malacai's suggestions. They sound reasonable to me.

Thanks for the suggestions, Loki.

Cool.

Next item of my curiosity...why in the world is there a "Managers Board" Every time I see it I comment how stupid and presumptuous it seems. I'm not sure how anyone else views it. I remember the friction when some members post on it. It's nothing but a trouble magnet and another rule to screw up imho. You already deleted most of it...just wipe out the rest (or past it under somewhere else if you think it's worth keeping??)

You don't currently discuss Manager businesss there. You do that in private as you should.

Members don't need it, and don't use it right anyway. There's several email addys and other boards to those same ends, so why double up and cause confusion.

I would suggest that someone nuke that thing and replace it with nothing.

Just thinking out loud here.......

Personally, I forgot there was such a board, and have never looked at it, so it isn't bothering me, but if there is a problem with it, sure destroy it. I'm a proponent of erasing redundancies. . . . I just hope no one realizes that and comes to wipe me out, because the world has enough wackos
