Hi everyone, Thanks to a savvy fellow Rp-er (Thanks Illeandra!), I recently caught wind of this. Apparently, as of 2009, MSN Groups will be closing. They will be migrating to a different site. It's a site called Multiply and it looks like MSN's answer to MySpace, Facebook or Yahoo 360 - in other words, it's a social networking site. I'm not sure how they plan to integrate the groups aspect into it (everything's being kept top secret for now) but I thought I would let you all know what's coming. Now, supposedly, we'll keep all the content (threads, members, pictures, etc.) that we have now, but I would recommend copying anything that you absolutely want to keep to someplace else, just in case. My question to all of you members is: Would you be willing to migrate with the site? Will you make the move with us to this new site, Multiply? The people we have at Elmshade now are some of the best role-players out there! I would hate to lose any of you. I would also hate to lose any of the storylines we have, as we have a lot of excellent writing here, and lots of folks put in many, many hours of creativity. I hope you'll all think about it and let me know, either here on the boards or by e-mail. If you decide you'd rather not, I'll understand, but we've had a damned good run for a Role-Playing site, and I don't know about all of you, but I'm proud to belong to such a great group of role-players! Ok folks Register at new sire- check and done. Even started a new thread so folks can let others know as the arrive, as well as what the new "Name" is. For instance I went from UpsetLaurel to SillyLaurel. I *do* like the idea of a more mature area where we can post more ummmm..erotic stuff. I honestly feel that there a multiple ways/paths/means of charator growth and a well written erotic *not Trashy/ Porn* scene as just as much place in a Fantasy setting as all the sword and sorcery stuff does! I like the bare bones of the new site. I really *Like* the chatrrom. Some of the best gaming I have ever done has been in chatrooms and I was *really* annoyed whem MSN did away with them. Then again I think MSN has been phsing out the groups for quite some time. It started with the Adult sites, then the Chatrooms, and now will be complete. truth to say I'm glad I stopped paying MSN some time ago. Very soon I will be changing my Email Addy, Oh the work THAT will be in dealing with all my saved mails, and switching to Comcast mail. Everyone who I currently recieve mail from will be notified of my new email as soon as I figure it out! REYCO- I don't know about the AIR Managers. There style seems to be to do everything without recieving any input from members. I plan to save my favorite stuff from there on my own HD, and am not counting on the site transfering. Esp with as few people that really RP there anymore. Anyhow this isa long enough as it is. see everyone about. ~L~ |

Thanks to all for taking the time and making the effort to make the switch to the new site. I think it's gonna be MUCH more streamlined and hopefully will be better than the alternative MSN wanted to force us to use. Ha.
Now we just have to migrate relevant material and any more members (?) to the new site.
My question for Loki - do you want to migrate your own threads and storylines? If so, Hi'el or I can give you a quick rundown on how to keep the formatting intact. If not, let me know which ones (threads/stories) you want to keep, and I'll try to migrate them as I have time.
I'll be doing as much as I can to get old stuff over there - there is an "Archive" category specifically for old threads, etc. This is where I'll be putting anything that isn't currently going on.
Let me know, and again, welcome and thanks to everyone who's willing to make the change! :)
Oh, and last but definitely not least, many, many thanks to Hi'el's tireless efforts!! Kudos to you, my friend...I'm very grateful for all you do. |

Nice vote of confidence there. No hurt feelings here though. I didn't know that we had a style at AIR, us Managers that is, but we do not like to rush into things. We've spoken about it, again us Managers, and are watching other groups move over and see how they deal with it. By moving over, I mean to Multiply. I'm a member of several other MSN groups, one that I RP in almost as much as AIR, but I'm just a member, not a manager. It's totally not AD&D associated, and very "on the fly", but I seemed to have found a niche, if you will, and like the friendly atmosphere. They moved over their group within the last 24 hours. I'm looking over their issues very closely. GL with all you guys stuff here. - Drachen |

I belong to another RP group which made the move to Multiply and I, too, am waiting to see how it turns out for them. Not sure I really like the format, but maybe it's just something a person has to get used to in time. We'll see.

Oops, I didn't mean the don't care at AIR, though now that I look at it, it reads that way. I meant it more as they aren't worried about it as much. But, like Laurel said, Drachen, Kia, And Scarr seem to make all their decisions behind closed doors, so as far as I know they're all going batshit.
I made a few posts over at AIR earlier today based on my experience migrating one of my archive/database groups sites over, might wanna take a look.
Heil, I'll get on transferring that stuff to you right away. I had meant to do it awhile ago, but it didn't look like anyone was using the site.

GO TEAM ANARCHY! @Drachen spirit- Hey Mr Drach! Good to see you. I get the same vote most days. No worries. AIR will ride it out and be fine. Hope msn doesn't give you the bumpy ride they're so good at paving. @ Freako, ahem, I mean ARI- Bwhahahahahahahaha!! Me do my own work?! Oh hell no. if you would PLZ have my material transferred to the new site of your choice. I will accept aimoo or hq with equal enthusiasim. If you all want me to do it that's fine too. i might get around to it : P I think the only things that matter would be games, stories, and narratives. The OOC stuff I figure is fluff and white noise. I wouldn't expect to save any of that. Lol. Chat is fine, chat is good. If I don't like it I won't use it : D I remember how many ppl used it to game and tool material around while having a good time. I guess I should have specified. I think it is a HUGE bonus. I'm not big on banning. Probably because I've been banned on soooo many sites. Excluding spambots of course. I stab them in the eyes with pointed sticks of flaming death right b4 I tell Skeetch they have shinies inside them. @HT- I don't see anything I disagree with. Good show ole boy. I will comment more after I seriously look at the material again (no myspace atm) CAR! @Joe- There's a few ways to post pics in your posts. It's easy, once we get there we'll show you a couple simple options and you can pick your favorite, And I'm going to post that warthread like it's 1999. What's the problem exactly? I figure Es is the best way to recruit and I'm sure HT/Ari will move it over with no problems. We can easily save the posts as we go as extra insurance. I'm not waiting until feb or whatever. I am open to options that allow us to move ahead. Let's game! If not, just jump in when you feel the time is right. Of course if no-one plays I will be forced to wait won't I? : -X @Sianna- Damage to Es will be proportinate to the show of allied resistance. Working together. Es has enough potential to fully repel a large badly organized attack like they are facing. And if no-one shows or seems to care I will level Es and leave a great smoking crater in it's place. Just kidding. But things might get a little busted up like the Temple, Ravens Tower, and some other local locales. The dice will tell. : O For all I know we might not even get to the fight b4 the move. I would like to move forward and see what happens. @Reyco- glad to get your input, you've always been a great online asset. Thanx for the info. |

Loki - Glad to see you out and about, wreaking havoc. :-D I'll do as much as I can, but will be starting with stories/games which need to stay which have Ari, Sia and Justinius in them, and helping HT with the ones which have Tessa, Denora and anyone else I may have forgotten. In other words, we WILL get all pertinent material transferred by Feb. but I'll be concentrating my efforts on the stuff with my chars in them first. Yes, the EDIT post feature is a HUGE bonus in my book. Although, I still recommend that when you do one of your mondo-posts, you highlight and Cntrl+C (Copy) it....JUST in case. From what I can tell, though, so far, aimoo doesn't seem to have the same "session timed out" gayness that MSN does. Yay. Still, copy the long-arsed posts, just in case, eh? Chat might be fun...haven't done it for awhile and so we'll see how smoothly it operates. Okay, I have tons of work to do, but I'm glad to see people making the switch. That's heartening. :) I posted for Ari on the Heroes thread, and will do Sia and Justinius (and the druids and Sentinels) as I have time between migrating stuff from here. *looks at ALL the material*....  we'll get it done. HT - What do you think about a CHAT Board for CHAT game announcements? We can even put a little light in there for you, if you want, so you can let us know when the chatroom's open.  |

I looked over things and the only things that I need moved over are what is current for Katy.
If we are going to have the thread finish about getting Ravens tower back then Chaelynn is in that one other wise I have what I need.
Question Ari....what ever happened to Laurelle the red headed mage priestess I use to have...? |
