As the sun begins to set in the latter stages of dusk, a tall man with shoulder length blonde hair makes his silent way into the temple.
The man purposely chose this time, knowing that the temple would be fairly empty. As some of the faithful leave, he shields his face from them so not would recognize him.
The man moves closer to the inner sanctum of the temple. He meets up with two acolytes who recognize him.
"Lord Marsala? Tis a surprise to see you here this time of the day?" the bolder of the acolytes said.
"Could you tell me where I can find the high priestess, Siannodell?" the paladin replied. "It's urgent that I see her."
"I'm not sure she is in at the moment," the other acolyte said. "You can wait in the vestibule over there for a while if you want."
"This cannot wait any longer, I must speak to the priestess," Marsala said.
He brushed past the acolytes, going deeper into the temple in his efforts to find Siannodell.

Location: The Temple returning from the Sparring Fields, the Assembly Area of the Weremacht (The Ire and Fire of Faith).

~ ~ ~ A tall figure sweeps past the acolytes to grab from behind and yank the man back from further progress into the Temple.  The Silenni wraps his hand in the fabric of the stranger's cloak, and jerks backward on it while angrily saying to the fellow "HEY! Didn't you hear the acolyte? She is not here! Or don't you hear properly?" ~ ~ ~

Marsala slowly turns around to face the Silenni,
"My kind sir, I do not intend to fight you, particularly in the temple," Marsala said. "I am Marsala Moreheart. I have returned home here to Elmshade with my wife Diedra and my three children."
The paladin looks at the strong hand that still has a hold of his cloak.
"Not that it is any of your business but I felt the need to come and give a confession to the High Priestess," Marsala replied. "If you know of her whereabouts, maybe you would be so kind to tell me where I can find her."

Location: The Temple.

~ ~ ~ The Shadoweir looks down on the man with an almost irrational anger boiling in his green gaze.  When the paladin speaks the words "...in the temple.", the anger suddenly vanishes from Silenni as the full realization dawns on him, that he was inside the Temple.  The rest of what the paladin said went unheard as claustrophobia grips Hi'el. ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ Open-mouthed, the Silenni slowly glances upward sweeping the ceiling with wide fearful eyes, and cringes downward before the paladin almost as if being forced to the ground.  Through gritted teeth, the Shadoweir desperately groans out "Nooo!" trying to resist the fear beating upon his psyche, and tears his gaze from the ceiling to search for the nearest exit from the Temple.  Snatching his hand from the paladin's cloak as if burned, Hi'el looks at the man grating out, "I... must... go..." and flees from the Temple. ~ ~ ~

Melanie, one of the higher ranking acolytes that served under Siannodell, had heard the commotion in the vestibule and came out from the back. The young woman seemed to be about twenty summers in age, with shining, shoulder-length brown hair that was primly gathered in a ponytail behind her. A look of concern crossed her face and her brown eyes studied Hi'el and the paladin closely as she approached. "Hi'el? What's the matter? Are you --" she stopped as he fled the sanctuary, looking as if all the demons in Hades were after him. She frowned and looked at the paladin, thinking he looked familiar. "Do I know you? What did you say to make him so afraid?" Her tone seemed reproachful and she crossed her arms, displeased. "Hi'el is a great friend of the Temple's, and a friend of mine, as well, sir. If you've threatened him in some way, then you've erred, for he's a great servant of Mielikki. Is there something I can help you with?"

Marsala thought to himself how hard this easy thing was becoming.
"I assure you, miss, it was not who frightened off your friend," Marsala said. "When he grabbed my cloak from behind, I even mentioned to him that I was not going to fight him inside the temple."
The paladin straightened his cloak up.
"My name is Marsala Moreheart, humble servant of Marfa," he said. "I have just moved back to Elmshade with my wife Diedra and three children. I have come to the temple to seek out the high priestess Siannodell to make a confession and seek penance. Now you look to me like someone in the know...could you direct me to the high priestess so I can do what I've come here to do?"

Melanie shrugged apologetically. "I'm sorry, Sir Moreheart, but High Priestess Siannodell isn't here right now." The young woman clasped her hands in front of her. "She's gone to the Sparring Fields to try and make the travelling circus that set up camp there leave." She gestured to the altar and the rest of the sanctuary. There was also a statue of his Goddess, Marfa, carved from a smooth, shiny, light brown stone. "If you wish to pray, you're welcome to do so, and no one will disturb you. But if you do, indeed, seek penance, then you'll either need to wait here until she returns or come back later." Melanie smiled at him kindly and awaited his response with a helpful expression. Her gaze strayed curiously again to the door where Hi'el had fled, and she wondered briefly if she should go after him.
