LOCATION: Vicinity the Ruins of the Alliance of the Faiths Temple, Elmshade

~ ~ ~ While Gillette spoke and Kur'ai listened, the Ary'Velahr'Kerym, ever the mentor and advisor to the wielder, kept up a mental, blow by blow retort, giving its opinion and questioning nearly everything about a few of the Ash Elf's points of contention. ~ ~ ~

  • Gillette: To be powerful in war, even that of such epic proportions as that of which I speak IS indeed honorable good knight.... Even... by your own warriors definition I may remind you....to vanquish thy enemy is quite valorous. I should expect you to hold the creed to the very core of your being.
  • Ary'Velahr'Kerym: 'ERE' IIRE I'TYARA TEN' OHTA NAA SANYE AR' ASTALD, ar' sanya ALE' ILYA menea ten' celebreth ar' oqueni naa magha de tanna i'tela en seere. • Gillette: Tis why I offer you sanctuary from the coming storm. Your driving need to crush your enemies will be with you no matter the circumstance. Your aura is strong. As is that of your soul-weapon
  • Ary'Velahr'Kerym: 'Mankoi?  Mankoi naa ron tula SINOME KARN RON OHTA? Mani naa ron IRM?  Mani naa SINOME e'SINA yamen tanya TUKA sen KARN RON OHTA?'**
  • Gillette: And my new friend ..you would be more than pleased to hear of the worlds that have been lain waste by her majesty. Perhaps we are the lesser of two evils, LOL, but great steps in parallel with your own factions' outlook have come to pass based solely on our unifying Banners.
  • Ary'Velahr'Kerym: 'I'palurin ere' en muata naa SINA palurin!  Mani MARTE a' i'palurinea e' i'tarna en ron nuqerna ED'HE? Uma He harna sen?  Uma He kela sen hest ar' qualm?'***
  • Gillette: I suppose I should expect no less from you tho. I had hoped greatly, but again I am disappointed. I understand your answer, but I implore you. Do not take the path of defeat
  • Gillette: *sighs* I expect this *waves his hand* may be upsetting but entrust me mi'lord this is very small by all accounts. Mmm, Ironbar was a formidable warrior. He had immense personal power. ...But he was of the Red mind. I have warned of such. *he glances to Leopold again* I pursue a purer path.
  • Ary'Velahr'Kerym: 'Rutha?  Sina ia dagora rutha?  Amin IL'NOWA!  I'Ohta en Nia tanya NAE rutha! • Gillette: Yes, I was informed that they could not be recalled. So your analogy is accurate. In any case you have my respect as warriors. You are deserving of it. I do not give it often. If this pair had impaired with the well being I would have been forced to intervene. But for you I am sure it was all very exciting
  • Gillette: Yes, trained in mentalix anyway. They had no ability for the sacred arts of the body. I wouold be so pleased to find Intelligent strong willful pupil.

  • Kur'ai Galifrey, Arms Major of the Myth Drannor Akh'Velahr, Paladin of Torm  ~ ~ ~ The Arms Major kept his thoughts to himself and all expression from showing on his face as he was tag teamed by the Ash Elf and the Warrior Blade.  When finally Gillette departs, the ancient Grey Elf turns to the Half-Elf, who healed him summoned his white stallion to him, and as he rides away, calls out to him, exclaiming "Diola lle ten' fallana amin ar' suyolla coiaamin!  Amin naa Heru Kur'ai Galifrey!  Amin naa e'akhlle. Yela no' amin manka lle caela i'anta."††  Kur'ai looks down upon the other Tel'Quessir, wondering if she would recognised his name or if, as he now suspected, it was lost to the archives of history. ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ The Paladin of Torm asks "Nauva Ro coia?"††† glancing at the elderly human as Arienne finishes giving him some potions, and begins sliding back into its sheath the Ancient Elven Blade, who aloud protests "Aiya!  Aiya!  Aiya!  Mani lle uma!  Lle il'naa waina amin ve' SINA!  Amin naa ilya waara ar' tuupa e' agar!  Amin anta i'alupoika!"*†  The Arms Major rolls his eyes in utter disbelief at the War Blade, shaking his head, and snapping the Ary'Velahr'Kerym's hilt up before his eyes, fiercely retorts "LYE NAA ILYA TUUPA E' KEMEN AR' AGAR, AR' E' ANTA EN I'ALUPOIKA!  Sii, DINA!"*††  The brightly flickering silverish-blue flames of the Elven Sword dim down to the bare radiance of a Faerie Fire spell, leaving the area in moonlit darkness, and the blade meekly squeaks "Ilya forya!  Ilya forya! Numa anta nak mahtamin ilno'!"*‡  Kur'ai silences the Ary'Velahr'Kerym sliding the blade home fully in its sheath. ~ ~ ~

‡‡ = 'You know, that's twice he's offered to train you.  Normally, since I do NOT trust this fellow, I'd tell you to go learn 'OF' him.  Note I said 'OF' him, NOT necessarily 'from' him.  But in this instance, we should probably consult our Gods first before making any long term plans or commitments.'

While all this is going on, an entourage of Elmshade Guards led by the woman, Sable, approach the group of battle worn Defenders.  In the distance by the road behind them waited a cart and another Town Guard.  Sable calls out "Mistress Arienne, we're here to assist!  AND there is something else about which you should KNOW."

Araon was sitting down at his own dinner table that night, eating a small dinner he cooked for himself. It was in the middle of his dinner that he heard a knock on his door. Araon got up and went to the front door and opened it only to find a couple of guards standing outside his house "W... What is it?" He says surprised and the guard in lead steps forward and tells him of the disturbance at the temple, the battle that was happening and Araon looks at his, wide-eyed. He regains his composure and goes outside to his horse and mounts the horse as the guards accompany him to the temple. When he gets in sight of the temple he sees a gigantic demonic orc tearing up the temple walls and just destroying it and strewing the rubble all around. Araon was going to go and try to stop this knowing it was foolish anyways but luckily the guards that accompanied him stopped him and held him and his horse back so he wouldnt do something stupid. He watched as the orc was struck down and then his eyes wander over and he sees Arienne and he quickly rides his horse over to her, moving past the guards and riding up to hears this woman call out to Arienne as Araon arrives "What in the hell is going on here Arienne?" He says, not sounding angry at her but more disspapointed and sad about what he just saw.

It was all too much for her to take in at once and the sylvan beauty closed her eyes, paused, and took a deep, cleansing breath. Her mind was awhirl with all of the commotion that had recently assaulted her senses. There were too many things to deal with at once. Then take them one at a time, Arienne, her inner voice advised. The elven woman nodded slowly to herself and opened her eyes. They fixed with sorrow upon the diminishing figure of Aonian, riding off into the distance. She hadn't meant to upset the young man, and felt a pang of guilt that she had caused him distress. He will recover, her mind spoke quietly. But she made a note to visit with him later anyway.

Arienne stood from Amagato's side and held both slender hands out to those gathered for silence. She waited a moment, until she had everyone's attention, then spoke in her normal, melodic voice. "Since there is much to be explained here, and we have injured to tend to...I invite those who will come, to my tower." The sorceress's blue eyes flicked a bit nervously around the group and then settled on Araon. She gave him a soft smile. "It's good to see you here, Mayor," she addressed him formally. "We're going to need your input regarding rebuilding the Temple. And I need your help to carry Master Amagato to the tower, if you would be so kind?" Then she regarded the female guard, Sable. "Can you tell me your news here and now? If so, then you and the other guards can start assisting the Trinity by keeping the townsfolk away from here for now, until we can get plans underway for reconstruction."

She looked at Mother Siannodell and Leopold. "You two are also invited, Mother. I have plenty of food at the tower and there are more potions there, as well. Master Leopold, I shall give you more, if you feel you need them." Arienne glanced down to Amagato again. "And you could use some more, too, my new friend."

Finally she turned her pale blue gaze to the paladin who had addressed her. I know that name, she thought. And I know where I know it from. But that isn't possible. It can't be. He must be mistaken or an impostor, one. Or perhaps I misheard the name. These thoughts raced through her mind and she favored the battered knight with a hesitant smile. "*Ar' lle..." she said quietly in the old language of her people, studying him with an intensity that gave weight to her words. "**Lle naa adu creoso, Heru Galifrey. Amin cael sinta en' lle, tanak." There was little doubt that the beautiful mage spoke the truth. It was evident in her stare. "***Seas tula, Heru en amin. Lye cael sai quen en."

((*"And you..."   **"You are doubly welcome, Lord Galifrey. I have knowledge of you, to be sure."   ***"Please come, my Lord. We have much to speak of." ))

Siannodell nodded quietly, looking around at what was left of the temple in a daze. It still stunned her that the beautiful, sturdy building that had taken so long to rebuild before was now once again just a pile of rubble. Is this ground cursed, Great Mother? Mielikki’s priestess had to wonder. If they rebuilt the Alliance Temple, it would be for the third time. Maybe, third time charm? The thought made her smile just a little and she looked at Leopold. "Well, what do you think?" she asked him. "Mistress Starsinger is a wonderful hostess, and we’d probably get a better meal there than at the Twisted Root, anyway."

The Guardswoman of Elmshade answers the Trinity Mage when a break in the conversation presents itself, and very briefly explains "Mistress Arienne, we discovered three people murdered. The two Elmshaders, Vivian and Jack the Orchard Keeper were terribly mutilated.  Sydney, their daughter is missing [Siannodell & Melchon would know of her]There were holes in both the house and tool shed as though someone crashed through them, and we also found this small, wide-brimmed, blue hat with the large green feather.  The third murder victim, an Outsider, with markings similar to those of them Weremacht people, who may or may not have been the killer.  SHE possessed 'assassin' like weapons, BUT we found her crushed under a HUGE boulder, which someone else HAD to put there.  All three bodies are there in the cart."  Sable points back over her shoulder where it waited with one of the other Guards.(OOC: Yo, Loki, provide some details on the equipment and weapons CRUSHED DEAD GIRL had, thanks.)

Kur'ai Galifrey, Arms Major of the Myth Drannor Akh'Velahr, Paladin of Torm  ~ ~ ~ With all the people around him deferentially speaking to the Tel'Quessir Maiden in words the ancient Elven Lord couldn't understand, he hangs his head, and examining his befouled appearance and his damaged Mithril plate mail, disgustedly shakes his head. The Arms Major heavily sighs, wondering if any Elven Armorers yet remained in this World of Man with the proper skills to repair his armor.  Kur'ai looks up at ruins of the Temple, and frowns, wondering if he'd ever again see his Shield, his Elven Bow, or any of the other items that he'd arrived with there. ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ At the musical and perfect intonation of the ancient Tel'Quessir tongue of his Age spoken by Arienne, Lord Galifrey turns his attention back to the beautiful Lady, and curiously regards her, wondering at the meaning of her words and proper inflection of the Elven language he was use to hearing.  The Elven Knight places his gauntleted hand over his heart, executing a slight respectful bow to her, and formally replies "Lye uma tanaka, Arwen Starsinger.  Amin anta nir' onsinta.  Diola lle ten' i'saesa en lle eska ar' malia."* ~ ~ ~

Upon hearing the guardswoman's words, Arienne's expression became disturbed. She tried not to show it, but she unconsciously chewed a corner of her bottom lip as she considered what Sable's news portended. "Show me," she said to the female guard, following her to the nearby cart. Arienne had noticed that Mother Siannodell had gasped at part of Sable's story, and the elven mage intended to later find out what the Temple's High Priestess already knew about the events.

When she reached the cart, Arienne quickly tugged off the makeshift tarp that was covering the bodies. The noticable stench of death wafted up from within, and the elf maiden briefly closed her eyes, bringing one hand to her temple. She was already starting to get a headache. Having a somewhat scientific nature, Arienne examined the bodies and could clearly see that Sable was correct in her assumptions that the dead had been murdered.

She looked at Araon. "This looks like something that you might do well to put some of your better people on, Mayor," she said. Then she turned back to the guardswoman. "Sable, thank you for the information, though I wish your news were of a better nature. If you would be so kind as to have Vivian and Jack's bodies buried, I'm sure that Mother Sia or one of the Temple acolytes could perform last rites." Arienne flipped the tarp back over the dead and took a deep breath. "As for the Outlander, if she is indeed one of the Weremacht's own, then she will need to be examined more closely. I dare say that it might even necessitate speaking with her spirit, though I am loathe to even consider it. Take her body to the Ivory Tower," the sylvan mage ordered with a grim tone. "If Raven is not yet awake, then leave it with Master Freya, with instructions that he is to learn as much as he might from the woman's remains. The rest of us are going to retire to my tower for the night."

Arienne looked down at Amagato and softly chanted a Levitate spell upon his still weakened form. As his small frame rose into the air, his familiar looked for a more solid perch upon the man's chest. When Amagato had floated to shoulder height, the sorceress gently took one shoulder and began to guide him in the direction of Starsinger Tower. Arienne regarded Siannodell, Leopold, and Lord Galifrey. "It won't take us long to get there. Mother, I wish to speak to you about Sable's words. But we may talk further when we arrive." Again, the slim elven woman raised a hand to her head and gingerly rubbed above a silvery brow. It's going to be a long night, she thought to herself.

Leopold folded his burnt robes about him as he wandered through the wreckage.  The group was involved in the aftermath that always accompanied tramatic events.

Nodding politely to all who spoke to him, he wandered off a bit to seek inward counsel as he watched and pondered the significance of thier foes.

When the group set out for the tower, Leopold followed quietly, his brow furlled in thought.  Walking with his hands held loosely behind his back, he took slow, measured strides that none-the-less seemed to easily keep pace with the group.

The reticent Guardswoman nods at the instructions she's given, and makes arrangements with some of the other Temple Acolytes for the bodies of Jack and Vivian so Mistress Siannodell could take counsel with the Mistress Arienne.  Once a final disposition for their remains had been reached, Sable and the other Guards took the dead stranger to the Ivory Tower as directed for examination by Master Raven.

Kur'ai Galifrey, Arms Major of the Myth Drannor Akh'Velahr, Paladin of Torm  ~ ~ ~ Normally, the Elven Knight would've offered his arm to the beautiful Tel'Quessir Maiden as they walked back to her Tower, but in light of his less than pristine condition at the moment, discounts the idea as inappropriate.  Kur'ai decides to return in the morning to search the ruins for his Shield and Elven Bow when the sun was in the sky, and after a night of rest from battle.  The Arms Major briefly looks over the three dead bodies the Guards had brought, and after the Guards take the bodies away, asks of the Trinity Mage "Mani marta a'sen?  Uma sen gurtha imu' i'dagora?"* as he walks beside her to the Tower. ~ ~ ~

Araon hears about the death of a good friend and well-known orchard keeper Jack Turner and his wife and he frowns at the thought. Araon's ears perk when he hears that Jack's daughter is missing and he waits for Arienne to finish talking and giving orders before he turns to the guardswoman. "Is that all the information you have on Sydney or can you tell me more and gather some of the best guards to go and find her?"

Siannodell noticed that Leopold had withdrawn into contemplation, so she decided not to bother him with trivialities like where they would be supping. When Sable began her report and mentioned Sydney, the High Priestess gasped, bringing a hand to her mouth. She also knew about the owner of the wide-brimmed, floppy blue hat with the feather and claimed it, turning it over in her hands and thinking about the small boy who wore it. Siannodell had seen the kender-kin wearing it when he showed up inside the temple during their fight with the demons. The kender...I think his name was...Peppin, she thought. Sia also noticed that Mistress Arienne was studying her with unabashed curiosity. No doubt she wants to know what I know. Then the mayor asked Sable and some of the other guards to find the missing little girl.

Finally, Siannodell spoke up. "I don't think that will be necessary, Araon," she said quietly. "I believe Sydney is in safe hands....erhm...well, relatively safe hands, anyway. You see..." she looked anxiously over at Arienne and Leopold, and then back to the mayor. "You see... the last time we saw the girl, she was in the company of a...um...well, I guess I may as well just tell all of you. A kender." Siannodell said the word and braced herself for an onslaught of outrage or aghast opinions. Kenders were known throughout the lands as something more than just pests. But no one seemed to object and Sia's platinum brows raised in surprise. "Oh. Well, they're probably still together. In any case, that would be my guess. I imagine the two of them are probably getting into trouble somewhere in town. But maybe we should keep an eye out for them anyway." Mielikki's High Priestess of Elmshade then followed Arienne and the strange elven knight to the lady mage's tower. Siannodell was ready to sleep for days and welcomed the idea of a good meal and a soft bed.

Arienne regarded Mother Siannodell in silence for a long moment after her revelation, then turned towards Lord Galifrey. "Amin uuma sinta, Heru en amin*," she answered with a saddened expression and a last, troubled glance at the bodies before turning away. "Ron ilna yassen lye iire lye dagore i'raukos.**"

Then, upon seeing that the rest were following her, the subdued elven woman led them all to her tower. Before she chanted the spell to unlock the doors, she turned to all of them and warned them. "When we enter, Viewsk will be waiting. For those of you who do not know him, Viewsk is a beholder-kin. He is not an enemy, however, so please do not attack him." Arienne smiled slightly and spoke to Lord Galifrey. "I'khselee e' a'baramin naa mellonamin. Seasa uuma cronha ho.***" After satisfactorily warning all of them ahead of time, the silver-haired beauty quietly chanted a soft, elvish phrase and there came the sound of several large bolts unlocking from inside the massive, black steel double doors. The doors glowed a bright blue for a second, then faded back to their normal metallic sheen. Arienne's smile became larger and she opened the right-hand door then stepped aside, gesturing to the others for them to enter. "Welcome to my home," she said.
