The last thing Eleine sees as she passes thru the doorway is the Twisted Root Inn and those inside.

Pushing into the energized doorway goes from painful to torturous. A thousand forces tear at your being as you are reduced to particles and reassembled. everything non-living is tore from your person. Armor clothes weapons are all stripped away by the primal forces of the alien wormhole.

once on the other side you stumble thru into a world of heat and burning gas.

You are automatically stunned for a round. You can loook around as you regain your composure

There is a reddish sky overhead but it's hazed with smoke and gas. your eyes burn from the noxious fumes.

((Closed Thread for Eleine))

Around you is the ruins of some old buildings long gone. There's more nearby

The landscape rolls gently but is pretty much flat and featureless. The remnants of trees are here and there. Petrified examples mark where forests may have once stood.

Oxerhead large winged creatures soar in a formation. Of to your right you see a large cloud of dust. There are several forms in th middle of it. It's hard to see. They're maybe a half mile away.

Beyond that you can see a stream of fire flowing like a river.  don't see Charynoble and you have very little in the way of items.

What do you do?

On the way to the cragged peaks you riders encounter both a poisonous bog and a river of flowing magma. Both are easily treaded by your elemental ghost steed. The warhorse doesn't break stride as he digs into the surface. Your immune to the noxious gas as is your mount. Jeggs coughs super hard and pukes to the side a couple times. As you cross the magma you smell burnt hair as Jeggs has to extinguish his tail.

They stop on the far side of the foothill leading to the main peak.

Jeggs shot her a boyish grin as he turned to face the mountain. With a spring he vaults tens of feet up the side. He does move quickly due to six limbs clawing at the rock. You guess he would be more at home sinking his claws into wood. Several times he breaks traction and sends cascades of stone down the incline as he scrambles for a new hold.

It's a long treacherous climb thousands of feet into the air. It takes hours. Some places are no less than sheer walls that you have to help each other over.

Pleased he tells you, I taint never made it upta the top sa fast-as-that. That's a bit of Alright matey. Good winds and good omens. I have a tight feeling we're gunna have a fine evenin.

As the sun drops he sneaks you to a cave. in the cave there is a small pool of water.

He leads you in the cave and hides from the water behind a huge boulder. With his back to it the pool is still over 75' away.

Ah' -K, here's the rub Palli. I can steal water if I'm quick about it. If you tarry the keeper will come for us. That curse-ed beast got hold ah-me twonce. It liked ta tore my skin off.

While I was wrasstlen my way free of it I learned that on the other side of this pool is their main chamber. The birdmen don't swim none at tall so know thet goin in.

We needs ta lure that lil kracken in here and do it in, so's we can swim under to the other side unmolested and un-hurried like.

If I splash around and ge it here can you run in and distribute some pain? I kin jump pretty high up tha mast so I'll be the bait, and get clear at the last second. You gots all the metal and pointy sticks so I  am's thinkin you should do the pokin.

Whatcha think cappin?

Eleine felt the sweat dropping off her face as she made the climb, but at the same time it seemed to clear her mind and body of all else but a clear clarion purpose. Here she would do as she had been born and bred to do. There were no politics to consider, none save Jeggs to worry about.

Once they made it to the top, she listened carefully as the wermac spoke. "I could use that sip of stolen water, Jeggs. Then about an hour to rest and pray afore I tackle that Kracken." her soft voice stated her few simple needs. "As for the rest it sounds good. You've the experience here that I lack."

Aight then matey. You both come to sit behind the large boulder out of sight of the dark pool. He's a big boy but you both fit easily. Front paws out and haunches down he seems to be in good spirits judging by his plaque plauged grin.

He offers you aome sort of internal organ he has turned into a water pouch. You understand the uncorked end of the hollowed out muscle is where the water comes out. Ere, take this down slow.

Do as you gotta. Just keep it down or the thing'll come for us. Anythin that disturbs the water will get it's eye. When your done he takes a long swig. After that he pulls around a smaller bladder. This one isn't water. It must be some kind of fermented grain judging by the alcohol smell.

Smacking his lips he asks, You wanna hit? It aint good, but it tastes bad. Made it muhself. Taint no fruit round ere to make a proper bev-rage outta. But enough of this will get it done all tha same.

The Knight gave herself a slight shake, bringing her mind back to the present. She took the waterskin from Jeggs and drank deeply. After setting it down Eleine replied back to him, "I'm fine. I was just trying to figure out the best way to tack out a pack of evil Blood thirsty birdmen who could fly to thier escape. Then hit us from above." She gave him a long look then continued. "But we'll have to trust in tyr that my fighting skills can see us safe and my companion freed, eh Jeggs?"

Eleine extended her hand out to him so he could help pull her back up to her feet. For the first time she lowered her visor, and looked through the eyeslits so that she knew her range of sight.

"You asked me what I thought of your plan? I think it is time to call in the Kracken and pray that Tyr grants me his fighting prowess." so saying the Knight drew her blade. As she stepped towards the water, she chanted in Norse, "Hear my plea Mighty God of the Just. I ask for your strength to fell my opponent. I ask you grant me your power so that I may defeat this evil. I ask that you guide my blade so that your name will always known. Every drop of blood I shed I give to you, to further Law and Justice in this place, even if I must bled my last."

She stood with the water lapping at feet. "Jeggs NOW!""

Easy there strider. Let me get it's attention and then you can defend me from it.

The surface of the cave pool ripples.

Ah there it be capn. Why dontcha take one step back behind that boulder next to ya. When I lead it past ya you poke it w/yur blade thar.

He gently pushes you back one step just as a slick green-black tentacle breaks the surface of the water. (1 round)

EY! I know your thar you great stupid beastie. Show yerself...I feel like havin some seafood.

Some bubbles break and a small crest starts to move to the pools edge.

Moving away from you and closer to the entrance he hefts his new black spear. The heavy shaft flies straight over the short distance. (natural 19) It slices thru the middle of their center. (2 round)

Everything goes quiet for three breaths. Jeggs eyes go to you and then back to the pool.

Humph. I musta missed. Actually thought I saw it's................The water explodes as several tentacles shoot out at Jeggs.

He pivots and compresses his muscles. In one action he jumps 30' away in a 10'arc. He is nearly back thru the cave's small entrance. (3 round)

You can't see the water from where you are. But you can hear the thing coming up on the shore. If it heads for Jeggs it will go right past you. The boulder is hiding you from being seen from the water.

The first thing you see are it's green-black tentacles. 5 of them each as big around as your arm.

As it gurgles and wails the tentacles slap thier way towards Jeggs. In a shot 3 of them wrap about him and pierce his fur. He cries out in pain and grabe them trying to pull them out.

That's when the well fiend begins to slide past you.

Jeggs huge spear is jutting out of the middle of the top of it's head. It seems to be focused on him only.

What do you do?

As the tenticles snacked past her, Eleine brought her new blade into action. With a viscious downward swing, she attenpted to catch the ones that had managed to capture Jeggs. He was the scout, she was to protect him. Everything emptied out of her save for the cold rage that filled her as her body responded to the challenge.

"You'll not find me easy prey!" she called out in direct challenge as she allowed her attack to put her square in the face of the beast. Eleine had her shield, she had her blade and she had a clear oppenet of evil to fight.

In her mind it was a perfect day.

Your heavy Tyr-ian weapon crashes down into the tentacles and cuts each like they are but simple rope. (give me your dmg) Jeggs falls backwards when the tension is suddenly released.

The wildly fipping squid arms are still stuck in him as they spew a mix of his and the fiends blood from the severed ends.

The enraged beast rises up in front of you. It is both surprised and pissed off.

It opens its maw and unhinges it like a boneless snake. From above it comes down on you. It's huge black slimy mouth covers you like a wet closing tooth filled umbrella covering you from head to elbow. It can't fit your shield or sword in its mouth becasue they're too large

It actually starts to lift you off the ground. Instead of biting you in two it grinds against your metal armor. Each tooth is hollow like a needle and they ooze infectous disease all down you (but your immune to it)

It can't bite thru th holy armor. Its many rows of teeth screetch and scrape on the gold surface but you are only hurt by the amazing pressure it's jaws possess. (8dmg)

Still reeling Jeggs struggles to get up and pull the leeching digits from his furry bod.

(your turn)

The blade felt like no other as it cleaved through the tenticles with ease (43 dmg). The Knight felt invincible even as the maw came down to cover her. Dropping both sword and sheild, Eleine  worked her hands into each side of the massive beasts  jaw and applied every bit of strength in her to breaks it maw and release its hold upon her.

She heard Jeggs scrambling about bide her, felt the pressure being inflicted upon her. The cold fury that poured through her only intensified as her struggle with the Kraken was at it's most elemental level.

in Eleine's mind her Knighthood shone clear. The Power given to her by her God flowed through her just as her blood did. She would not die here.

Jeggs stumbled around before gathering his wits. Once free of the blood letting hoses he was back in the game.

He runs towards the flailing beast and you. At the last second he dashes past it and leaps high and wide to cannonball into the pool ripping his spear free of its skull on the way by. Hurry up as ya can matey! I'll be seein ya soon. He splashes heavily into the pool. He prepares to take a great breath of air next.....

The creature hurts from the blade cutting its thin arms off. It is very strong and very evil. You are not weakened by its spit venom which surprises its dull Intelligence.

Using the immense strength of her gauntlets Eleine slowly forces open the great jaws. She proves she posses the strength of a jaggernaught when she throws back the much larger devil.

The creature both hurt and surpprised moves back to the water. From there it thinks it has the advantage. It doesn't notice at first as Eleine walks on top of the water to advance as allowed by her boots.

((your move. 1 round))

It has moved back into the pool to become 3/4 submerged and had raised several tentacles as a shield.

Jeggs is to the far side and prepares to dive underwater

Eleine advanced upon the beast with both her sword and sheild raised. The Knight could not let this creature survive and continue to befould this place with it's evil. She was honest enough to admit that her need to vanquish her foe came from more then her Knightly vows. It came from a need to do something that would lower some of the evil feel of this place.

Once again she brought down the blade to remove the tenticles that acted as the creatures shield, so that she could attack it's heart. The Northern Knight had no intention of drawing out it's death for that would go against her vows. Evil like this had to be slain, swiftly and efficently.

She took a half moment to call out, "I'll see you on the other side." to her companion as Eleine was fully engrossed in her own combat.

The paladin moves deftly across the top of the water like it was solid ground (via boots)

The many tentacles make a blurry shield of black ropes around the exposed part of its head.

Eleine runs straight up the middle. Her massive blade moves like it was weightless. Grabbing the hilt w/two hands she points the blade downwards. When she gets to the beastie she brings the blade down like a spike. W/a skrunch enchanted metal drives thru the protective cranial shell and spears the things small brain inside.

As it dies it lets out a screech but that comes out as jettisoned bubbles. Every tentacle vibrates and lashes in death rattles but they bounce off the holy armor she wears

Open mouthed Jeggs treads water off to the side. Whoa.

He smiles to you, Aint that a helluva thing? Posideon smiles on me today for shore and for reason. Cmon lass, let's go getcher friend.

And w/that he kicks upside down and begins to swim thru the underground tunnel into the next area.
((if you have any trouble jeggs is a powerful swimmer and will help you to easily make the long distance underwater. It is 500 ft long))

You both  pass thru a dark narrow crevice in the rock. You can eventually see light above you. Just before you break the surface Jeggs slows your ascent and pulls you to a darkened area. The next moment you come up behind a large boulder.

As you look around you can see you in a 300' around shallow lake. The cave you're in is enourmous. It is hundreds of feet high and it is covered w/inverted oval birdhouses made of mud and rock. They look like man sized hornets nests to the western paladin

On the ground you can see the one entrance to the cave, its a 1000' away. Between you and the exit is the grounds. At this time it is occupied by about a hundred birdmen. They all face the lake.

Right at the edge of the lake is a stone altar framed in giant stone henge style stone pillars. With its back to you and the lake one brightly colored birdman speaks to the rest. This one has a wicked looking knifs in one hand and a stave in the other. Small bones hang from leather braids among all of the dyed feathers.

On the altar is charynoble. There's something like a walnut shell over her mouth. She is also bound hand and foot. She appears to be knocked out.
((what do you do))

There was nothing that could suprise the Knight now. While the Gifts of Tyr aided in her quest she knew that it was her Faith in Him that granted her the loan of his Power. Still she was awed at how easily her oppenent had fallen. Eleine had barely broke a sweat. The walking on water, even the short swim through the tunnel, again both had little to do with her own skill and relied heavily on his Gifts.

So when she surveyed the scene as they emerged from the tunnel, she couldn't help the feral smile that appeared on her face. This was a strategic problem worthy of her training. The Knight continued to draw in slow, deep silent breaths as several scenarios ran through her mind.

It was helpful the the birdman Shamen's back was to the water. very softly she whispered to Jeggs, "I am going swimas close to the shore as I can underwater, then apear behind the Shamen like the Hand of Tyr I am and simply take him down. Can you manage a Shamanic act of your own, telling them that their previous God has turned his back upon them. That if you statement is False, you demand that he appear before them now to face the Hand of Tyr in Combat to determine who the Birdmen shall follow." She gave her companion a wry smile wondering if he'd understand all the nuances of such a performance.

Of course the real problem would be if the God actually did appear. Yet, if she was to face the Prince of Lies himself, this lesser God would be a perfect place to completely test herself. If he did not appear, then perhaps she cound convince the Birdmen to leave off the ways of evil which must have been all they had known. Eleine believed that no one could willingly serve the dark if they knew the true power of an Honorable Gods care.

Jeggs looked like a wet dog. He looks at you with stern resolve as you give him your instructions. At he end he snarls quietly, no problem!

You prepare to carry out your plan together.

The aarocka shaman continues to screech his bird language at the crowd in front of him. They would be able to see you behind him, but the water goes practically right up the altar where charynoble lays in front of the shamamn.

Suddenly he raises both hands in the air. One has a smoking feathered rod and the other grasps a nasty looking bone-knife.

The birdmen all scream back to him and they begin to chant as he brings his hands together over his head. Ammun, Ammun, AAAmuuunn!
