"Look mommy! I found 2 kitties in the field near the old woods! They're lost! Can I keep them? This is will be Red-Eyes-Aachelle and this one will be Mooky Green Tea" The small girl holds the two thin felines one in each arm supportrd by the small crook of her elbow as she enters her home, a small homestead cabin.

Her mother turns from the food she's preparing. "Eew, are those really cats sissy? What's wrong with that one's eyes? They're all red and yellow. In fact they both look kinda sickly honey"

Pleased by the atention and the lack of a sudden and difinitive NO! she proceeds to make her case. "Yep! This one's really sick! See?! It's fur is turning green!"
She holds one of the cats out for inspecion.
"Honey-bunny that animal is orange"

With an incredulous look "Well it WAS green, I swear! I fed it some of my sandwich and goat milk so that musta helped, huh?" Her small beautiful face is a wet eyed pout by now. "Pah-Leeeeeeeeease... can we keep them? I don't have anyone to talk to since Jada died"

That sent pains through her mothers heart "Ok sissy, we'll see what Poppa says when he comes in"

Knowing Poppa had many animals here on the farm, including mice, she knew her chances were better with him. Poppa didn't hardly ever tell her no.

"Ok!" She took her new found playmates to her tiny bedroom in the loft. "This'll be your room to. This is dolly and this overhere is pony. I know it's wood but one day I'll have a real white pony and we'll love each other,     and hey! And you guys no what else...........  ?"

She prattles on and informs the small troop of cats and dolls that tea time is near and that thier Sunday best will be required.

Outside in the nearby fields Poppa cleaves the stalk of the last of the green  hay. He would have a ton harvested soon if the rains held off like they had been. His stomach growled "Bout quitten time" He heads for the old plow horse "Cmon Sindle, let's go home irl"

The horse kicks the ground and snorts, it's sweating from pulling on it's leader. "Well what's got into you ole girl?"

The Monk steps out of the portal, setting the girl down as he orients himself.

Looking about, he kneels briefly, grasping the girl's shoulder as he speaks in a confident and quiet tone, "Don't worry.  I will aid you...as Sia has protected and rescued you...so shall I continue in her efforts."

Lifting the girl, the man easily craddles her to his chest as begins to run with the speed of a charging stallion towards the village and the safety of holy ground.  "They will have to find you...and then catch us...and with a bit of luck, we'll have a few more surprises in store for them!"

Nearer Sia the Demon-orcs take flight, rising on two hard strokes of thier hellish bat wings. The green skin was shouting archaic sounds to the blinded Ironbar who had the equivalent of a noonday sun radiating from his slanted brow.
Their presence instantly fried anything remotely consumable in their brimstone firey radiance.
Each sported a pair of flaming semi-transparent wings that spread well over 25 ' across.
Bonecrusher spoke the dead language (must have comp lang or tongues to understand if not schooled in it) to his field general as he held one hand over the slowly recovering wound in his chest, "Maybe we should call for some back  up? These two are a handful"
Ironbar raged at the thought, "NO! We will succeed our task! No scrawny humans are going to rob us of our borne rights!"

"LOOK OUT! Veer left!"
Ironbar crashed into another limb as he followed BC's voice, "Gods Damn it all! Guide us true or you'll rue this day for the rest of your short life, maggot!"

Boncrusher took them under the canopy so that he could clearly observe the trail. Normally their speed would easily overcome any land strider but in light of thier deficiets they still ate up the ground beneath them. (their move rate is quite a bit more than Leo and Sia)

The two advanced as if they were just borne straight from the bowels of Hell itself. All around the pair of flyers the ground cracks, grass browns and withers from the unholy heat, the trees and branches recede into scorched skeletons in the massive wake of infernal heat

Sia jogs relentlessly heading back down the trail, her one destroyed eye screaming pain with each pounding step. She understands it will take her some amount of time to reach the palace of solidtude and her beloved town under her own power.

Charynoble spilled into the open, "Thank the Gods! A trail! And a large one at that" Patting the simplistic doll that hung from her thick waist long braids she murmered to it, "See I told you we would be just fine" The fist sized black doll with the flour sack dress- mop yarn hair and a raggady ann composure stared back at her silently with its X-stitched eyes

She was panting lightly and her black skin was covered with a sheen of salty seat from  her labourious run. Her clothes were tatters then and now they were little more than a swatch covering her huge heaving breasts and another remnant covering the modest triangle where her legs met. She heard a flickering sound and throwing her red pin-point eyes about she slunk back into the edge of the leafy trail.

Suddenly..
She two huge bat winged flaming goons scream across the sky torching everything in sight. She hunkered down as they passed with a yelling fury.

((I've got some more but I'm out of lunch break, let me finish and then we can proceed))

The twin flaming apes passed over head and she crouched deeper into the foilage at the feel of their tremendous heat.

She wondered many things to herself, " What the [censored] is going on around here?! Did they break the seal of the ruins? Do they have the key?  " Fear crushed her guts at the thought.

Watching everything turn a dead yellow shade she fretted, "This bodes ill, these are the same breed as I laid to earth last eve" Even though it was sheathed solid a snickering mad-man cackle still rises from behind her. With a rolling eye she admits "We..."

Noticing the flare of emotion the small cryptic vodoo doll fell back deeper into the recesses of her braided-locks still hanging by one round arm like a dead rodent

After a good amount of conteplation Charynoble decides that her fate lay not with the path of the beasts but within the bowels of the Ruins that lay afar. Setting like a runner at the starting block she posed in a tightened ball of held energy before bursting from the cover of the wood-mother to continue up the trail her shadow long in front of her. Bald determination carved her face

She nearly skidded to the ground --- Looking up not 4 steps out she realized there was a robed figure only about  30 paces from here bearing down at a dead run

Robes flapped, a stave, a womans face, older with lines, one eye socket leaked a solid tear of blood

Charyn knew not what to make of the scene so she fell back upon years of life threatening combat. In her mind she calmly focused her mental energy's lay lines and wove them in such a way as to create a very specific effect. Readying herself for a battle the dark skinned Amazon with a face hidden in a drapeing of long thick braids crouched and gripped a token that hung into her palm via a small charm bracelet.

I wonder if she can detect the presence of the Way?

Her blade asked its murderous thoughts of her. No we cannot kill every thing we encounter

Of course we can, sate me and power without reserve will be there for you to rule with

Shut your lying mouth

Like a suprised wild animal she waited, ready to read any reaction

This must be another land of damned souls.......at least this place  has a sun...

Sia has barely traveled a minute ((1rd)0 when the gleaming barefoot barbarian woman falls out of the wood line

She seems to brandish almost no equipment except for a massive breaching-claymore strapped to her back. She has many scarification and tribal tattoos etched into her ebony skin. The face is hidden behind the heavy braids but her eyes burn red even under the haze of the sun.

Steady and silent she waits poised in mid crouch
The possessed close in on ironbars plannar centering, the gleam of the powerful child was a beacon in his darkness. Already he was learning to use his second sight to navigate. Living things were easy enough

"Decend Ironbar!"

The sound of the snapping heavy dead-wood limb carries for some ways.

Ironbar shook his head as he was relatively unharmed by such things

To see the lifeless things of the world was still a hurdle, he thanked the masters it hadn't been anything serious this time besides an old tree's arm. It slowed him down but that was all

Bonecrusher banks into barrell rolls while Ironbar flys straight on with hands out stretched, the bone weapons extending his fumbling reach even farther like a nightmare blind-man with walking canes of a puncturing nature

"Get us above the trees!"

"Then I can't see anything!"

"Can you spy them bonecrusher?"

"I see something far ahead"

Where Leopold steps through there is nothing to catch his piercing attention except the rustle of the thick trees' collection of leaves and a few bobbing butterflies. He speaks to the shocked girl and takes to a tremendous run

Leo has nothing to impede his progress, he barely touches the packed trail as he reaches into his muscle's reserves, maintaining an urgent stride. He holds the sprint for what would seem as an impossible distance

There is only Leopold, his steps falling in synchcronicity with his measured breaths

Oh yea, and the corybantic girl-child with the healthy lungs

"I!
WANT!
MY!
MOMMY!
WAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAA"

She would spinn her head violently side to side at any words that didn't answer her question. Denial was still strong in her delicate flowering mind and children deal with things in odd ways

In return to being swept up again his precious cargo of life clings against his cassock with a grip of warm childish steel as her hot tears wet his neck line.

From behind him the monk detects the hordes of birds and animals that also run in his own direction, some even pass him in thier self preserving exodus.
((Everyone post for the next 2 rounds.
Leo expects at worst the Brothers Grimm may overcome him as he reaches his destination
PS- I won't be back until 5-17-04
*Loki goes backpackin again*))

Round 1:

The monk sighed as the creatures began to overtake him. Running full out, he was faster than most horses. The creatures must be driven by a great fear. The fury of the wings of the twin demons roared behind the small man as he sprinted towards the village, the girl screaming in his grasp.

Leopold stops abruptly, twisting the sack which once contained the girl into a loop and adroitly catching her in it’s grasp. With narry a word, the man smiled sweetly and looked up at the advancing pair. Within his grasp was the girl, now no more than luggage to be carried on the man’s back.

Round 2:

With a jaunty wave of his hand, the Monk summoned a portal to his position. The fabric of space and time itself seemed to part in a jagged line before him as the man stepped into the greyness between the folds of the planes.

OOC: Dimension Walk, 1/day. 1% Chance of going in the wrong direction. Time dilation effect: Roll %: 01-20: +10%; 21-75: No Effect; 76-90: -25%; 91-00: -50%. 1 Turn is equal to 7 leagues/21 Miles. So; he’ll walk about 1 round and arrive at the village.

I really hated to use this power this early..., sigh.

The pain in Sia's cut out eye had become too much to bear after the rush of adrenaline from fighting the demonic orcs had started to wear off. The short run so far had only made it pound worse with every beat of her heart, so she stopped in the middle of the trail trying not to whimper at the way it ached and throbbed. Raising her hand and gently trying to place the useless eyeball back within its socket, she couldn't stop the agonized scream that was wrung from her with such actions. Quickly, she used her Holy Symbol and began a desperate prayer to Mielikki to Cure this Critical Wound that Her servant had suffered. The healing warmth and heat radiated outward from the silver amulet and up her arms to flow into her eye. There was a split second of bright pain as the nerves reattached and the orb settled back into its natural position. Then the spell's residue began to fade and Sia knew only blackness from that side of her sight.

The High Priestess knew that she would probably forever be blinded in that eye. The spell she knew to Cure Blindness didn't seem to work on eyes damaged by injuries for some reason, and a few tears of remorse leaked from her good eye as she briefly mourned the loss of half of her vision. Determined to make better time to the village, Siannodell once again called upon the power of her Goddess, using her Holy Symbol and chanting as she stepped close to a nearby Oak tree. As she finished the spell, she stepped into the tree as if it were a door...which it actually was...and began her journey to the Temple via the trees.
_____________________________________________________________
(( Round One: Cast Cure Critical Wounds to re-attach her eye into its socket. I know she will be blind in that eye, but I would rather her at least have something there instead of an empty socket. Ugh.

Round Two: Cast PassPlant to travel via Oak trees back to the Temple. ))

Charynoble stares as the woman tries to deal with her one destroyed eye. She had nothing to help deal with such a tragedy. More than not she had lost half her site at the hands of those possessed humanoids. Probably a victim of their random violence which they dealt without prejudice.

Dodging the standing woman like a tree that was planted in the middle of the trail the dark skinned warrior bolted past her and up wind oppposite the direction of towntown.

She hoped her goal was not lost. The more attention others drew from her the better. She wondered with growing fright. Is the key still there?

As Leo crosses the tear in reality he steps into the gray void of an ethereal plane. Crossing his own plane at a right angle he advances more than physically possible otherwise. Simply put, he travels a shorter distance.

The world is milky dark and dotted with many erradic colored pools, each a differnet point to another place ((Roll for errors as you exit through a color pool if you haven't already))

For the first time the girl falls silent at the change of scenery to the dreamworld. She peered into a nearby pool and saw her own world reflected in it. It was hazed and felt like she was looking through smoke but she could recognize it all the same. The longing ball in her belly subsided as the wave of wonder overcame her for the moment.

Sia casts her healing words on her own flesh. The call to her god mother is satisfied and brings blessed relief to the throbbing pain in her injured occular socket. With a trembling hand her fingers explore the wound. New pink flesh marks where her eye should be. A smooth soft cave meets her finger tips. Her eye has scarred into a concave hole with a soft inside ((My rolls were pretty horrible. Start dreaming up some cool eye patches. PS- A hole actually has way more possibilities than a dinked up eyeball, hmm

Please post your spell if you can so I can figure your move rate

Go 1 round again ))

Even though the heros cannot percieve them the two manbeast propel themselves onward. Ironbar is more than past any previous levels of fury he has ever known. The spell on his eyes was not fading and this sent him into a deeper version of rage.

The tunnel of greenery continues to immolate in a funneling backdraft as they scorch thier way across the wood. Overall, Ironbar continues to slow them down with his unsure flight and keeps them from attaining their top speeds with his constant connections with various tree tops.

Once the two runners enter the nearby nether plane they stop to barley a hover. "GODS Damn it!! They have the wit of Asmodeus himself!! They slipped sideways again!! I can't believe this!! "

Bonecrusher said nothing for fear of being beaten to death by his berserk teacher.

In a fit Ironbar throws his third site forward in an attempt to triangualte where his quarry has flown to. His tunnell vision extends like an astral tendril seeking out its target with the tenacity of a plannar bloodhound

The old man tilted his head as he stepped through the swirling color field of the portal. Tucked in his arms quietly for the moment was the form of the young girl. Leopold took the time to speak briefly with her as he surveyed the portal to ensure that it was the one which would drop him into the village.

"Girl, I don’t even know your name. Only that you are to be protected from the Demons which accosted you." Smiling broadly, the Monk’s soothing tone continues, "We will soon be in Elmshade, under the protection of their temple’s holy ground."

The pair stepped through the portal and onto the ground of the Temple. Leopold set the girl down and uncovered her.

The monk then looked to the south, watching the smoke rise in the distance. A light frown etched itself as he concentrated once more, his focus inward as he forced his body to heal itself at an accelerated rate.

Pass Plant
(Alteration)

Sphere: Plant
Range: Touch Components: V, S, M
Duration: Special Casting Time: 8
Area of Effect: Special  Saving Throw: None

By using this spell, the caster is able to enter a tree and move from inside it to inside another tree. The second tree must lie in approximately the direction desired by the spell user and must be within the range shown in the following table.
Type of Tree  Range of Area of Effect
Oak 600 yards
Ash 540 yards
Yew 480 yards
Elm 420 yards
Linden 360 yards
deciduous 300 yards
coniferous 240 yards
other 180 yards
The tree entered and that receiving the caster must be of the same type, must both be living, and of girth at least equal to that of the caster. Note that if the caster enters a tree, an ash, for example, and wishes to pass north as far as possible (540 yards), but the only appropriate ash in range is to the south, the caster will pass to the ash in the south. The pass plant spell functions so that the movement takes only one round. The caster can, at his option, remain within the receiving tree for a maximum of one round per level of experience. Otherwise, he can step forth immediately. Should no like tree be in range, the caster simply remains within the first tree, does not pass elsewhere, and must step forth in the appropriate number of rounds. If the occupied tree is chopped down or burned, the caster is slain if he does not exit before the process is complete.

(( Will post any other actions after I find out how fast she can get to the Temple. Also, will think about possibilities re: eyepatches and HA! At least she slowed them down a little. *sighs and pouts* Not worth losing an eye, but a little consolation, nonetheless. ))

((Hey C~ Look for the follow up post to these boys if they survive y'all. Your spell is more damaging than you probably guess. And I already have dozens of plot hooks worked out so fear not! More mischief is probable in yor future))
((Taking several minutes...)) The two jaugernauts practically hover in the air roasting the nearest unfortunate trees to piles of silty ash as Ironbar scans the skins of nearby worlds gates trying to discern the bright blemishes of his quarry.

From a distance the almost have the look of twin pheonix in a haze of black birthing ash.
Upon closer insepction they have more the look of psychotic apes with Hades coursing thru their veins and death on thier minds.

Bonecrusher guzzles another dark pink elixir from an ivory tooth philter. His form throbs and foams as his injuries all lessen somewhat.

After several moments he announces with a gutteral snarl, "I have them!! Finally! Sneaking rats! This is beyond amusing. The chase has just risen to the next level" Moving past Bonecrusher and his litter of potion bottles. "Tarry not my young acolyte for the hare has not yet fallen before the beasts and the wolf master still bays for his sacrifice. There is still work to be done this day"

Charynoble treads off into the grounds that conatain the ruins. She's mostly lost as usual.

Once Leo and his charge steps back into this crystal sphere it takes only moments to lock onto the girls Chi.

((This buys you all 3 more rounds to move as IB figures it all out. Sia, you can get back in 4 rounds after I rolled for available oaks in a random configuration))

As soon as the bag falls from her dishevelled form. The crystal blue eyes look thru the fine golden bangs of the small child and she seems to soften at the older man's warm smile. With no warning she stands and practically leaps at Leos' leg ((one with cloth intact)) She grips him tighter with her small strength and whispers, "I'm Sydney" she sniffs before adding "...thank you for helping me..." She buried her face in his clothe in a bleary attempt to wipe the tears from her wet eyes
"They scare me. They came out of my kitties and hurt my mommy and Pa.
Are they going to get me too?" Her voice was frail and muffled but he knew that she was aware of the situation. Smart girl for her age, she couldn't be more than 6 or 7. "They're so much bigger than us. Maybe we should go back to the dream world with the pretty glittery lights?
I don't think they like it when we do that" She whispered like it was a grand secret "I can tell. Just like I can tell the red skin doesn't like the lady's shiny light. He's afraid of her and her differnet lights" Pulling her face back to look up at him she hunkered her head down and raised her shoulders making her neck seem very suddenly short. "You wanna know what else?" A sly grin came to her innocent doll-like face as she tugged at his hem. "The green meanie is scared of you"

Even still she smells of hay and herbal shampoo and she is barefoot and thin. Blood spatters stain  her simple no-color sack dress but she shows no sign of injury aside from the invisible marks that may never leave her soul and mind.

Leopold smiled at the young child, resting a comforting hand on her shoulder. In a light sing song tone, the older man’s voice takes on a comical lilt as he speaks to the girl.

"Hello, Sydney. I’m Leopold and it is a pleasure to meet you." Pausing briefly he looks about as he continues, "It’s nice to know that they are afraid of me. If the other red is not as of yet, lets see what we can do to make him as afraid as you were."

The Monk is moving them into the temple to ask for aid. He will stop at either the main altar or the first cleric they run across. While he is doing this, he continues to speak to Sydney.

"I’m afraid that we can’t go back to the lights just yet. Tomorrow, but not today. I’ve travelled across the planes with you, Sydney, something that I do but rarely." With a wink, he smiles and a light laugh escapes him, "But it’s always nice to have a friend along to point out the sights."

OOC: That’s round 1. I need to know if anyone is about the Temple so that I can interact with them. Otherwise, Leopold with take a different tact for rounds 2-3.
