Raven appeared at the edge of the ruins, staff in hand, and the tiny key creature on his shoulder. He swayed a little, still very weak from his studies over the past two weeks. He had been using elixers and potions to sustain himself, so he could finish the research quicker. Now they were wearing off, and his tollerance to them wouldnt allow more to keep sustaining him. He needed a bed, and rest... but for now he had to do something. He wasnt sure what that was, but the tiny key creature seemed to know.
Raven walked out into the ruins, the tiny key creature guiding him as he went with tiny chirps and whistles. As he walked tward a clearing, he noticed the foilage covering the ground... roll back, and uncover the ancient stone benieth. It was an enormouse smooth square, he could see the seems at the edges. The entire thing was carved with relief showing pictures of the strange ancient race mingling with the elves, halflings, and dwarves in peaceful events. It looked very old, and there were no depiction of humans, only the more ancient of races. Perhaps this was made before humans walked this world, and only the elves dwarves and halflings were here.
Raven looked down to his feet where a stone square rose out of the base of the large square relief. There... was a small keyhole. Raven looked over to the key creature which instantly folded up its legs and eyes, to form a strange key. Raven picked it up, and lowered it to the keyhole. It looked like a perfect fit. Raven inserted the key, and turned it.
There was a large boom under the earth, followed by earth tremors. Raven quickly backed away as the stone square lowered back down taking the key with it. The seems of the large square relief began to glow, then dust and stale air shot out of them as it lifted. The huge stone slab lifted out of the ground to its full 12 inch thickness, and slid backwards revieling a large hole in the ground. Dusty old steps led down into darkness, looking as if they hadnt been used in many centuries. Raven quickly activated RuneStaff, which lit up the dark area as he descended the steps. Small puffs of dust rose around his ankles at each step downwards. The steps spiraled down for a couple hundred feet, and reopened into a small room at the base of the stairs. It was 40 feet wide, by 40 feet high. The room was again decorated in reliefs depicting the strange race enteracting with the other elven dwarven and halfling races. At the opposite end of the stairs was a large set of double doors, extending to the 40 foot cieling. They looked to be made of pure gold, decorated with the same relief in the room, and looking to weigh several hundred pounds apiece. On the doors were other symbols Raven didnt recognize, five in all, connected and bound to the others. This would take more study, he hasnt seen these symbols on the surface of the ruins. Raven was startled as the tiny key creature appeared again sitting on the doors on a tiny shelf. Raven went to touch the doors, and reach for the key... when he hit an invisible barrier. It prevented him from touching the golden doors anywhere. The tiny key creature again chirped at him, and he nodded his understanding... "A curse? The ruins have a curse?" The tiny creature chirped more explaing the properties of the ruins curse. The one person who uses the ruins key, and opens the enterance to the Hub, is cursed to never enter them.
Raven slumped to the ground... "After all the study on the ruins? Now I cant even enter them?" Raven sat in a corner of the room looking at the doors... he shook his head once. Then he slumped to the ground where he sat, .....and fell fast asleep. RuneStaff slowly went out without Ravens concentration, and the tiny key creature waited there on the shelf.... for the next hand to pick it up.

Furrowing her dark brow Charynoble wished to put as much of this magnificent forest between her and the body guard situation behind her as possible.
She didn't feel as strongly about recent events to risk her life over this man she held. She thought how some sugar would get her much farther than threat possibly. And the warrior back there had the ring of faith in his voice.
Templars were a dangerous lot and she knew how beliefs in a greater source gave some men added inner stength. She had never seen one as today though. She was fast becoming used to the way ppl in other realms bathed in metal clothes. Normally they would be considered rich beyond measure in the cities of her upbringing but here steel and water was plentiful.
Although this man did have the sterling colors of silver and gold making him seem as more than a simpleton.
She shook the thoughts from her mind. She had much to learn yet, of that she was sure

Her cruel cunning morphed into her old street ways.
Maybe some leverage is in order.
Braiding some of the mans hair with bone beads as it lay on her sculpted thigh she cast another precautionary spell on the limp man. It was an incredibly powerful charm she had procured from the strider-elves of the dead-savannah near silver springs (DSK- Valley of dust and fire supplement)

His wounded stump where she had torn his hand from his arm did not bleed anymore.

Smelling blood and a life-force ripe for the taking the ancient weapon on her back spoke to her in its incessent murmuring  way urging her to simply slay the powerful and assume thier roles and fortunes as rightful ruler.

It hissed words of deciet, subterfuge, coveting, and facade.
It always cried quietly for blood and the sin-slick souls of the living. It never ended or abated. Some days (or places) were worsse than others
Its probing thoughts were always laced thru her minds-eye but she had become the blades master since and she excercised her free will over it now.

We will bide our time and concentrate on learning of things my Dark-pince. We will show what little patience we have.
Any of your tricks and you'll find yourself rusting at the bottom of the nearest well

Silence answered her. She knew she would be hard pressed to part with the powerful weapon but she did not doubt it would call and consume a lesser person if she made good on her threat to abandon it in a watery grave. Its influence over humanoids was undeniable, it had even had elven masters who had fallen to its dream-promises

Moving her mind forward to the task at hand she rode the magnificent dragon-fly insecet. It could dive, hover and perfrom all manner of aerial manuvers. Its gnashing mandibles marked it as a nasty carnivore. Its speed pushed water from her eyes and she had to grit her teeth closed behind pursed lips to avoid the flapping of her cheeks that felt like it might tear them off

Enjoying its speed and deftness blow her hair back she raced to the White Tower. She grinned as she thought of all of the possibilites her and her new friend, this handsome mage of some power, were going to have sharing thoughts and time

Yes this world just might be seeing alot of her.

(She is to the tower. She heads for the open top area to land. You may have to drop a note in here to make sure I'm close to accurate)

The giant dragonfly circled once over the tops of the three mage towers below. All three equally spaced around the top of the forest hill in a triangular shap. A round dias set at the center of the three. It passed by the larger black tower of Silvara, red vains of lava coursing up and down its sleek sides. It even passed over the short stout grey tower of Ariennes. Her Gargoyles watch vigalently around its top, while a large black wyvern rests on the roof. No.... the dragonfly vears in tward the white sleek elven tower of Raven Stormcrow, the Ivory Tower.
The dragonfly and riders landed safely on the large balcony that surrounded the top of the tower. Silver tables sat evenly spaced around, providing an excellent view almost one hundred feet up from the balconies edge. No other movement is seen, or nobody is around at the moment. Strange but colorful lights dart here and there inside the open area under the crystal roof. The large open sided room looks to be a large observatory, with a huge telescope set in the center. Nearby it is a set of spiralling stairs leading down into the structure. Natural animals, birds, and butterflies dot the air around the tower, even here on the balcony they scurry about and watch the arrivals with curiosity.

Marsala was a little unsure of what to do. His first instincts was to try and focus in again on Raven's whereabouts. But the throbbing pain in his head and his right arm reminded him of the dangers of leaving this giant ant to go free before it eventually collapsed.
"Marfa, please guide my blade straight and true so that I can bring down this evil creature for good," the paladin prayed as he approached the ant. "It is time to finish this vile being's life so that it will not be a danger to any other living thing."
The paladin grasped his Avenger with both hands, grimacing a little from the pain in his right arm. As he neared the Ant, he raised the Avenger over his head, then brought it down on the Ant's body in a vicious downswing, the sword whistling as it cut through the air.

Marsala advanced on the unatural drone ant. It almost seemed to back away from him as if it had learned that he represented pain.

*rolls* When he raised the blade it instinctivly flinched away which sent its great fat abdomen swinging about in a sweeping roundhouse.
The combination of his blow and its own momentum met with a multiplied amount of force. The bloated segment of the ant came against him hardenough to send him sprawling into the wide stream. (waist deep) As he stood back up water running down his head his vision cleared and he saw it

The huge horse sized belly-part from the rear of the giant insect lay next to him slowly sinking into the gently moving water. He had completely severed it!

The ant stumbled and began to move (15mv) away from him with a surprising quickness as it zig-zagged opposite from him along the stream bank into the wood

"Running" away on 5 legs and with dripping fluid coming from the stem that used to be its tail piece it slammed into some fallen trees sending them up into clouds of wet rot and it bit madly at large immobile healthy trees in its confused rabid state of flight.

Heading straight for the distant town. It could very well die soon in the ranging wild. It had very little life left in it (9HD)
But it did seem supernaturally strong.
Will it make it to civilazation? He asked himself

Marsala's steed looked at him quizzically from the near embankment. A short trot had put it out of bounds of the fleeing creature. Most mounts would have also flown in self-preserving terror, but his looked at him flicking its attuned ears to him as if asking his master questions about his prediciment

The sound of a clashing sword to flesh and rode harder.  Ian's elven eyes spotted the glistening of metalic armor, along with the sounds of a steed.  He knew that armor color and rode with the wind.  He noticed the ant creature and looked alittle shocked " Nadar vendar!*" Ian sheathed his sword, and drew 2 arrows (Double shot) and aimed at the ant creature in the head, with a silent prayer to Melikki, he released the arrows and watched them wizz through the air, making a high pitched whistling sound as the approch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Mythril tipped arrows of flight. (D8 dam. (twice if both hit) I forget the bonus on ranged attacks for a dex of 17 if that is added)

2) * translation= "What the..!"

ian easily spots Mar's horse and then him.

The butchered fleeing ant takes the first arrow in the side. It stops and with a warbling head sizes up the rider for a gnashing charge of its leaf cutter mandibles as they appraoch each other the second arrow buries itself deeply into its multi-lensed eye.

Without a sound it stops again staggers, turns in a circle anf rages at Ian one last time. 20' feet before it gets to him it collapses in a cloud of dust and skids to a halt. A single puuf of leaves marks it's last breathe. Amber goo runs from the arrow holes. only the one in its side is reusable, hte other has a broken shaft as it hangs from it's face.

The huge carcass lays to rot in the days sun.

(1000xp for Marsala, 165 for Ian)

((OOC: For information only. Ravens right hand, on the ground, still has his White Trinity Ring on the ringfinger. The hand itself looks as if it was ripped off, and not cut due to a few tendons and muscle still attatched.))

"Vanador, Mondasat"  Ian said as he watched fearlessly as the ant demon charged him.  He had enough time to lay his bow back on its spot on his mounts saddle and draw his sword.  As he readied for an assult, it just collasped.  Ian breathed a sigh of relief.  He then dismounted Voronweir, resheathing his sword, and giving instructions to his mount to guard the other horse, he grabs his med kit and goes to Marsala's side.  " Master Marsala!"  Ian calls as he approches with the kit.  " Master Mar are you.. ok?"

Marsala looked at his right bicep where the ant had chomped down on his arm. It was painful but at least the soak in the water cleared up his head a little bit.
"I'm just out for a little ride in the forest, Ian," Marsala said sarcastically as he sludged through the water to the shore. "Some witch has taken Raven captive and she plays games with me by sending giant insects to play while she runs away. Only cowards run away - she will not have Marfa's mercy next time."
The paladin reached the shore and patted the nose of his loyal stallion.
"Yes, Mercury, I'm as surprised as you are. What do you say about heading for home after Aonian fixes me up and we search the grounds?"
Mercury lets out a loud whinny. Marsala laughs as he sits down on a log.
"I need a little aid on my right bicep...that thing chomped down on it. Thank Marfa I'm still have an arm left. After that, we need to check the area as I could have sworn that witch threw something down at me from the sky."

Ian listens and muses slightly as the Paladin wades from the water, but looks distressed when he says that someone has taken Raven.  " We must go after..." When Mar stops Ian, and says about his arm, Ian will inspect it (first aid skill) and treat as best he can, if nothing else to wrap it and stop the bleeding until Diedra or Raven can heal it.  "It is lucky, this looks deep."

Seeing Ian's 'healing' being a mere bandaging to stop the bleeding, Marsala got up with a slight grunt and started combing the area.
A flash caught his eye and the paladin went in that direction. As he drew nearer, Marsala saw that it was a hand. He knelt down and recognizes Raven's ring. Marsala shoos away the flies and picks up the hand.
"Give me a hand, won't you?" the paladin said as he tossed the hand to Aonian. "Put that in one of your sacks and put it in safekeeping. I need to get to meet with Arienne and Silvara. Raven is in grave danger and I fear Elmshade might be next."

Ian watches the paladin, helping him to his feet.  Ian then watches as he searches the area.  The glimmer also catches Ian's eyes, and then he sees the paladin pick up a severed hand.  " By the anchients..." Ian muttered and then thought quickly as Marsala tossed the hand at him.  Ian catches the hand and sees the ring.  Sickness threatens to overtake him as he reconizes the ring of the trinity.  Ian can't speak for a moment.  Instead he puts it in his pouch and then goes over to the wounded Paladin.  " Master Marsala, can you ride? I know where Arienne and Silvara will be.  If not,  you and I can traverse on my horse and your stallion can follow."  Ian said as he motioned for Voronweir to come.
