Location:  Elliana's Temple Lair transitioning to Elmshade and the Ruins
LAIR: Up the stairs and past the double doors of the main entrance, leads into the 20 x 60 foot vestibule with yet another set of doors that leads into the main hall of what is now your Temple to Orcus, and what was formerly a Temple to Demogorgon, Demon Lord of Paralysis and the Ixitxachitl.
LAIR: The ceiling of the main hall is 50 feet high in the center with a 20 foot balcony above the main entrance. At the far northside of the chamber a 30' tall statue of the ...
LAIR: ... goat-headed, cloven-hooved Demon Prince Orcus stands, and it is behind the statue that the secret entrance to your private sanctum is concealed. In the center of the main hall swings a man-sized metal cage over a 20' diameter, 180' deep pit ...
LAIR: ... with a 10' wall of blue flame burning about its circumference. Woe be it to any that touches the flames. The unfortunate caged victim not lucky enough to wind up on Ehliana dining selection, faces death lowered down into the pit at the hands..
LAIR: ... of her Shadow minions. The cage, however, tonight is not empty, and in it stands a truly spectacular catch... a creature from Sigil in the Outer Planes... a Tiefling, youngish in appearance, 5'8", 190lbs, long silver grey hair, black eyes, ...
LAIR: ... copperish red skin, and being partly demonic in nature has vestigial horns, a naked snaky tail, and a forked tongue. Finishing out the main chamber are four animated statues resembling 'Death' scythe and all in alcoves along the south wall. There are two...
LAIR: ... passages out of the main chamber. The one to the west leads to the former priests chambers now housing the Juju zombies. The passage to the east leads down into the crypts now occupied by the mummies.
LAIR: Oh, the menu item for tonight is charismatically and 'comelinetically' above average (16/15).
Ehliana strolled through her new lair with a bored and somewhat irritated air about her. The imp had pissed her off and she was in no mood to do anything except make a fresh kill...One that would take awhile so she could enjoy prolonging the torture.
Ehliana The vampiress paused below the cage, her deep velvety gown of crimson hugging every curve of her pale smooth flesh. The slit up the side revealed a toned, well-muscled leg and she narrowed her eyes at the humanoid that dangled in the cage.
Tiefling looks down from his caged predicament, and dreads the look he gets from his captor.
Ehliana She floated up to hover just outside the door of the Tiefling's prison, rubbing her delicate chin in thought as she devoured him with her cold, alien eyes. They were beautiful, those eyes...a pure, ice-like blue. But they were filled with
Ehliana a calculating stoniness that belied any spark of the human she had once been. "MMmmmmm....hello, dinner," she drawled and licked her lucious lips at the thought.
Tiefling backs up as far as he can away from the vampire inside the cage, pressing himself against the bars.
Ehliana The Tiefling's actions amused her and she laughed coldly. The laugh echoed around the lair's walls and she was instantly behind him, caressing him along the back of his neck with a sharp nail. She so loved to play with her food...
Ehliana "Perhaps if you satisfy me, I'll let you live..." she teased him.
Tiefling heard her speak, didn't understand the words, but the lip licking left no doubt in his mind what was in store for him. He jumps, bumping his head against the ceiling, and gives out a startled cry in some strange tongue.
Ehliana That the humanoid couldn't understand her irritated her. She WANTED him to understand. It just wasn't as much fun if they didn't. Rather than casting a "Tongues" spell upon the doomed Tiefling, she decided to use body language instead.
Tiefling spins about to face the seductive vampiress, and talks to her Planar Common, which isn't the same as the Common Tongue of Faerun.
Ehliana shifted into a partially insubstantial mist and drifted through the bars of the cage with casual grace. She heard the male speak and she formed again inside the cage, smiling at him without showing her fangs. She tried to hypnotize him with her
Ehliana eyes....listening to what he was saying, though she didn't understand him, either.
Tiefling starts making demands for his freedom, and trying to make a deal for his life in his speech is what Ehliana gets out of his demeanor. He fairly jumps out of his skin when Ehliana phases mist like through the bars, and there is no doubt the ...
Tiefling ... next words out of her victim's mouth were words of prayer to the effect of 'Get me the hell out of here!!'. He tries his damndest to push himself back through the bars and to get away from the vampire but to no avail. He cringes with his...
Tiefling ... eyes squinched shut just wishing for all the world that he had his sword, and then gets an idea. Maybe he could flatter his way out of the cage, what other choice did he have... Really?
Tiefling stops his struggles, and cracks open one eye at Ehliana to see what she's doing.
Ehliana The vampiress simply watched as he tried to press himself through the bars of the cage and she slowly, deliberately approached him with a seductive sway to her hips. As she reached his trembling body, she trailed one smooth hand up his muscled
Ehliana bicep and then rested it on his shoulder, pressing her form closer to him as she gazed at him with desire in her cool eyes. Her ruby lips parted sensually and she winked at him, running her hand down his chest to his waist...waiting to see his
Ehliana reaction. She cast her eyes to the door of the lair and then back to him. His fear aroused her and she wanted satisfaction as well as his blood, now.
Ehliana "If you satisfy me, perhaps I'll let you go," she said to him in dulcet tones, her voice and actions leaving little doubt to the Tiefling as to what she wanted from him, physically.
Tiefling straightens from his cringing posture with what can only be discribed as a look of dumbfounded surprise on his slightly demonic face at how she'd touched him, and this fanned the seeds of hope that he might still be able to get out of this ...
Tiefling ... predicament, if he was lucky. AND then he looked into her pale ice blue eyes (failed save)... and all thoughts of escape vanished replaced by the overwhelming ardent desire to satiate this breath-taking creature with every last ounce of ...
Tiefling ... strength and vigor he possessed. The trailing caress of her fingers down to his waist fires the lust in his loins, and kindles his growing urgency to be with the woman of the night. He clasps her hand in his, and raises it to his lips, ...
Tiefling ... heatedly kissing the back of her pale skinned hand in acceptance of her invitation to the 'dance'.
Ehliana smiled and saw that she had 'captured' her prey with her gaze. Her own lust had risen inside and she kissed him with a passion that was everything he had imagined it might be and more. Her hands slid over his skin and she undressed him with an
Ehliana urgency that revealed the depth of her desire. Her blue eyes absorbed the male's exquisite form and she pressed against him again, kissing him deeply. A small growl escaped her as they began to 'dance'.
Tiefling returns the vampire's kiss with equal ardor, and some greater skill in the arena of tongue fencing. The demonic attributes extended not merely to his horns, tongue and tail, but elsewhere in the primacy of his gender was he nicely endowed. As..
Tiefling ... the 'dance' progresses, he shows Ehliana the benefits that come with having a prehensile tail, and shows her how much fun it can add to the most vigorous and energetic aspects of the 'dance'. He 'leads' very well for one so young, but not...
Tiefling ... so experienced as he repositions his hands for more tender caresses of her delicious female form.
Ehliana responded with exuberance and heat that had the Tiefling striving for more. She was impressed with his skills, though she was too arrogant to show it. Ehliana briefly toyed with the idea of making this one a concubine, a servant...but then
Ehliana she realized how dangerous he could be to her if left alive. After he had staed her lust several times, she grew hungrier for the thick, rich blood which pumped through his veins, and her kisses lead her soft lips to his neck again, where the
Ehliana male's pulse had quickened and called to her like a siren's song. As he shivered in pure ecstacy, she bit deep, drawing the blood into her mouth with a moan of pure pleasure. The hot liquid spurted between her lips and she captured every last,
Ehliana crimson drop, swallowing greedily as he tensed against her nubile form.
Tiefling was beyond caring or concern as the 'dance' culminated in the most ultimate rapture he'd ever experienced in his life, and was the also the last he'd ever know as the strong pulses of his life jetted down Ehliana's throat, slowing, slowing, ....
Tiefling ... slowing, and then silence... the heart of the Tiefling beat no more, and his black eyes cloud over in death... but the look of ecstatic rapture remained on his features as oblivion claimed the soul.
Ehliana stopped before the Tiefling's heart did, and she licked her lips again, letting the male's body fall to the floor of the cage without a second glance. She changed into her mist-like form again and passed once more through the bars of the cage,
Ehliana floating down to the floorof the lair with a satisfied smile on her beautiful face. She glanced sleepily towards the statue and then slipped behind it to the room where her coffin rested. "Mmmmm....dinner AND a dance...how nice," she mused to
Ehliana herself with a wicked grin. The vampiress flicked her hand at the coffin and it opened silently, revealnig the plush, red satin interior. The lovely woman slinkily climbed in, still nude and completely satiated. She closed the top and drifted off
Ehliana into a rejuvenating slumber, gleefully awaiting the sunset so that she could emerge renewed and set her plans into motion. The village would be all hers, soon. And there was no one aware enough to stop her.
Earthquake: No sooner does Ehliana close her coffin for her day slumber, than she gets a rude awakening when her temple lair, island and lake are disturbed by violent shakings of an earthquake, coinciding unbeknownst to her with Raven's breaking the seal on the ruins. Of course her rude awakening happens when the horrible sun is still high in the sky at noon.
Ehliana snarls a curse and studies the top of the coffin lid with a twisted look of displeasure on her normally fair features. Still not ready to test her skin against the fires of the noonday sun, she rolls over and goes back to sleep.
Communion: No sooner does Ehliana get to sleep than the deep supulcherous voice of Orcus roars in her dreams, obliterating the peace of her slumber "MY WAND!!!  At last, I found where it's been hidden!!  Now, I'll show that bitch the true meaning of ...
Communion: ... Demon Prince, Lord of the Undead!  Ehliana, awaken!!  You are to take my army to the accursed ruins north of Elmshade, and find MY WAND!  Let nothing stand in your way, and do not fail me!  Kiaransalee will rue the day, she challenged my..
Communion: ... dominion over the living dead."
Ehliana groaned and her lip curled as her Lord summoned her aid yet again. "Why me?" she whined lowly. "That stupid black elf bitch is always causing me problems..." the vampiress grumbled to herself, still wanting sleep but not daring to ignore Orcus's
Ehliana commands. With a disgusted sigh, she opened her coffin and sat up, glaring at the interior of the room as if she could summon something or someone to take out her frustation on by will alone.
Ehliana speaks to her Lord in her mind. "I hear, Mighty Orcus, and I obey. I shall not fail you."
Ehliana The sultry undead slunk from her bed with an uncanny grace and stretched a moment, trying to decide which part of the army to rouse and organize first. She sent her mental feelers out to determine how long it would be until the sun set, so she
Ehliana would have an idea of how long she had to prepare the hordes of minions at her disposal. Then she frowned and glided to the large statue that hid the entrance to her personal chamber.
Ehliana "Lord, where is the wand located in the Village so that I might re-claim it for you?"
Communion: Orcus tells the vampire as she's rising "Use the HOARD that my children have brought you to GET my WAND.  FOOL!  It's in the RUINS!  You haven't much time... that drow-bitch's forces are in the area planning an attack on Elmshade, but ...
Communion: ... that'll change as soon as she learns that I've learned my Wand is in the ruins.  Of course, the pitiful defenders of Elmshade will try to stop you!  Get into the ruins!  That is all that matter!  Add any who try to stop you to my army of the undead!"
Ehliana winced at the Demon Prince's words and frowned, unsure of what 'HOARD' he was referring to, but determined to do his bidding, nonetheless. "As you will it, so it shall be done, Mi'Lord," she said. Ehliana moved down the hallway to the right of
Ehliana the huge statue, preparing to awaken the mummies that had helped her create a sanctuary of her lair. She bypassed all the traps and ended up in a square room roughly 15' x 20', lined with three large sarcophagi on each side. After entering, she
Ehliana glides to each one and opens the heavy cases as if they weigh nothing, revealing the shriveled, yet extremely dangerous and strong forms within.
Mummy Priests: From each of the stone sarcophagi rises the cloth wrapped forms of 6 mummies... all of them now powerful priests of Orcus, but were once in their previous lifes were priests of Demogorgon, until Ehliana destroyed their temple ....
Mummy Priests: ... and them with it. At Orcus' command Ehliana raised them as mummies, thereby forcing them to now serve Orcus. They bow as one to Ehliana, knowing something momentus was about to occur, and mentally ask of her "What is your bidding,...
Mummy Priests: ... Mistress?"
GAME: Names for your mummies... Vaug B1, Dokn B2, Kohm B3, Tuhl B4, Lihm B5, Halm B6
Ehliana gazes at her creations haughtily and speaks to them in an imperious tone. "We march on the village of Elmshade tonight. We will be using part of the gathered treasures to aid us in finding Master Orcus's wand. You will command the lessers and we
Ehliana will make all haste to the ruins which lie close to the town. For now, assemble all the troops. I am going to scout the village and when I return, I expect you to have everyone ready to march. Is that understood?"
Ehliana As the vampiress waited for the mummies to agree to her commands, she mentally contacts the ghast companies, to let them know that they would be marching soon, as well. She also informed them that they would be falling under HER command, and not
Ehliana that of the mummies.
Mummy Priests: All six nod as one, and their eyeless skulls turn in varying directions, mentally summoning all the undead, jujus, wights, shadows... under their command to assemble when the sun is down. The mummies turn back to Ehliana each ...
Mummy Priests: ... bows, and mentally reports "All undead we command will be assembled at night fall on the outer shoreline ready to march."
Ehliana turns to Vaug and commands him, "I want to scry the area of the village. You. Vaug. Do so now."
Ehliana "Cast a spell so that I can study the area before we march."
Vaug nods, mentally saying "Yes, Mistress. Follow." and moves from the crypt through the passage at the back down to the caverns where the shadows lurked and the pools of water stood. The gnoll mummy stands over a black pool of 'unholy' water, and ...
Vaug ... incants a prayer to Orcus to make of the pool a magic font to scry the town. Soon images start appearing, the undead priest focused first on Anh'Kiadis something it was familiar with and found him in some room... arranging items on the dresser..
Vaug ... stand (TESSA’S ROOM). The mummy then expands the scrying font out further and further in circles mostly moving north from the town in each sweep passing over the Temple under attack (Bonecrusher and Ironbar), next the cemetary with a quiet darkened mausoleum..
Vaug ... next the magic font shows forested land but opens onto what can only be the ruins as a woman carries an unconscious man (Charynoble and Raven) up out of what must be the entrance to the place they seek. For a full hour the mummy priest scries...
Vaug ... the area, but any efforts to penetrate into the ruins are thwarted. The font goes back to water at an hour, and Vaug mentally says "That is all that I can show you, Mistress."
Ehliana followed the mummy and silently observed the former priest's magic, peering into the pool's depths with narrowed eyes as the imp's form swam into view. "What is he DOing?" she mused to herself with a frown, unaware of Anh'Kiadis' mission
Ehliana for Orcus. Her icy blue eyes take in every detail as Vaug shows her what he can of the village and the surrounding lay of the land, making notes as to which areas might prove useful (the graveyard to add to her army, for example) and the fact
Ehliana that the town's puny temple was already under siege. Both of which made her smile, showing her full set of deadly sharp fangs. Each time they try to get closer and sharpen the image of the ruins, the image blurs into a haze and after the fourth
Ehliana such attempt, the vampiress scowls again in frustration. "Incompetent idiot," she berates Vaug. "Perhaps one of your brethren can do better."
Ehliana She tapped a long, crimson nail against her lip in thought and then nodded. "Nevermind. That will do for now. That gives me an idea of where to start, in any case."With that, she turns and makes her way back to the main hall of the lair.
Mummy Priests: All six bow, and follow Ehliana back up into the main hall await her next instructions.
Ehliana arrives at where she was before and commands them to ready themselves with what spell components they will need, as well as the weapons they might want to take with them. Then she moves to the far eastern wall, where she had placed those items
Ehliana from the hoard that interested HER, specifically, to augment her already impressive powers.
Ehliana After gathering those things she thought might prove useful in the coming hours, the lovely vampire was finally ready and had only to wait until the hateful sun set in the western sky.
Mummy Priests: All the mummy priests disperse to prepare for the coming battles.
Time: The sun relentlessly advances across the sky to sink into the western horizon, pulling darkness across the sky with its passage into the west. 5 hours pass when the last rays of the sun vanish from the sky, and darkness begins to hold complete sway ....
Time: ... over the lands.
Lake: At the mental summons of the mummy priests, undead, score upon score rise from their watery graves... skeletons of animals, humanoids and monsters, zombies of humanoids and monsters arose from the misty waters and stormed ashore... where ghasts and ghouls awaited with more zombies and skeletons of every type... from the island poured the blackness of shadows out across the misty waters of the lake... feral wights with still more zombies and skeletons entered the lake only to emerge long moments later on the opposite shore... last to emerge from the Ancient Temple were the mummy priests each carried in palanquins on the shoulders of monster zombies across the lake... they waited with the assembled Undead Army, a Division plus [5/6 Ghast Companies, 6 Mummy Brigades (6/6 Juju Battalions, 6/6 Wight Battalions, 6/6 Shadow Battalions)] for their Vampire Mistress to command them to MARCH.
Ehliana has been pacing for the last hour or so. She had spent most of the time while the hateful sun was in the sky gathering those magical items she thought that she and her army of undead might use.
Ehliana was becoming impatient for the imp, Ahn'Khiadis to return and inform her of the village and its defenses. She knew she and the rest of her undead servants would be marching upon the ruins that lay to the Northeast of the small town.
Ehliana to the mummies: "Are all ready to march?"
Ehliana Deciding not to wait on the wretched imp anymore (and having forgotten in her arrogance that she was supposed to meet him in the village)the vampiress makes ready, tucking a slim, black wand into her waist sash, and slipping a ring on her finger.
Ehliana "Vaug, Dokn, Kohm, Tuhl, Lihm, Halm!" she calls to the generals of her army by names, sweeping them all with her evil, crimson glare.
Ehliana "We go. NOW." So saying, the vampiress waited for them to obey her and followed them out of her lair, floating effortlessly above them as they turned towards the direction of the village known as Elmshade.
Mummy Priests: As one they bow, and Vaug in its whispery sandpaper voice says "All is in preparedness. We recommend the Ghouls, Ghasts, Shadows and Wights take point to kill any who cross our paths, so that they may rise as part of Orcus' Army."
Ehliana The view of all those skeletons, zombies and the groaning, shuffling mass of undead under HER control gave her chills at the power she now commanded.
Ehliana "Yesssssss. That is how we shall proceed."
Vaug The 1st Brigade leader goes on to explain "They are the fastest among us. The Shadows are the best at infiltration. The zombies and skeletons will be the main body."
Ehliana The vampiress snarled at Vaug, annoyed. "I'm not stupid, Vaug. You would do well to remember that." Her red eyes flare brighter and she motions to the whole of her forces. "Make it happen, you rotting excuse for a servant."
Mummy Priests: All the mummies look toward each other at their Mistress' consent, and then turn toward the assembled undead, mentally issuing commands. The ghasts, ghouls, shadows and wights rush into the forest surrounding the lake, and soon disappear from ...
Mummy Priests: ... sight. The rest of the giant zombies and skeletons pickup many of the lesser skeletons and zombies. Each of the Mummy Priests is picked up in their palanquins, and then the main body, the entire six brigades of undead, begin to move ponderously and slow toward...
Mummy Priests: ... Elmshade and the Ruins. The March of Orcus' Army had begun, and through the night and day it would march until it reached the ruins by dusk of the following night.

Celebril slows his stride and pauses to lift his head and try to better catch that scent of blood on the air. The smell drags up the old remnants of his living existence, of the horses that made him the cavalier that he was, and his cowardly murderer both. The shortsword tucked in its sheath is gripped in anger by the cold, lifeless hands of its owner without him realizing it. His stride is resumed with a purpose, crashing out of the forest and forward to have a look at this river and his still heart hopes, his wounded prey.

As the Undead Knight determinedly advances toward the river hungering for revenge as well as the blood and flesh of the Horseman, the ground surprisingly bursts open on either side of Cel, and from the flanking earthen, web-glued trapdoors in the ground, emerges a pair of big-assed, dark brown spiders [8' and 12' diameter, think Shelob] one to either side of the Ghast.  Both spiders attack the surprised Undead, and sink fangs into the dead flesh [dmg 3 & 4 hps] of their prey, injecting their poison.  Being Undead, however, the spiders' venom does no harm to the Ghastly Knight.  Between the spiders there ensues a tug of war over Celebril, who immediately gets pulled free of the right spider's grasp, and drug back toward the opening into the ground and the lair of the left spider.

Celebril lets out a slew of muttered curses as his advance is stopped, and to add to his troubles, he gets yanked off his feet and fought over. In his surprise he lets go of his sword and instead is forced to lash out with his claws and teeth in a desperate fight for continued unlife. [claws 11, 13] [bite 7] Things aren't starting off well, already hurt and things likely to continue downhill.

The flying claws and sharps fangs of the Ghast cleanly miss the big, hairy brute of a Spider as it continues jerking him further and further into the depths of its underground lair.  Behind the spider-dragged knight came the other spider seeking to contest the theft of its prey.  As the pre-dawn gray light started to vanish from sight inside the earthen tunnel, the giant spider dragging the knight spits him out, and starts chittering in a manner one could almost construe as disgust.  It starts wiping off its mandibles with its front legs trying to get the foul taste of rotted undead flesh out of its mouth, and hisses in disappointment at the Elf for not being a warm, living, juicy critter to suck all the tasty blood and soft tissues out of it.  Something Cel could probably identify with as a ghast, and his own need for some warm blood and flesh to satiate his own hunger.  The other spider, hearing the other spider's chittering and understanding it, hisses in disappointment that their prospective early morning meal was nothing but a rotting, dead walking corpse, and starts wobbling back out of the tunnel.  Had the Undead Knight not been distracted by the tantalizing smell of Horseman blood, he/it probably would've detected the smell of old death and decay coming from the corpses that hung wrapped in webs deeper inside the tunnels, and avoided being surprised by the eight-legged monstrosities.  The giant spider which grabbed Cel starts hissing at the walking corpse and raising its front legs threateningly at him/it to drive him/it out its lair.

Celebril backs out of the lair slowly, facing the spider and using a hand behind him to feel his way in the very dim light. His mind is mildly torn between being thankful he's not nearly as appetizing as he might have been in life, and the fact that he was so clearly outmatched. He almost pondered giving up his hunt to lick his wounds, but the want for revenge is too strong to consider that for long, hurrying up a bit on his way out with dampened eagerness, but eagerness to get back to the hunt none-the-less.

As Cel crawls backward toward the opening to the surface, the giant spider, hissing and threatening with its front legs, follows after the Ghast, ensuring the foul-tasting dead thing left it's lair.  The Undead Knight makes it clear of the entrance to the spider's lair into the pre-dawn forest.  The other spider was just disappearing back into its tunnel closing up the camoflauged doors as he emerged.  Once clear of the tunnel entrance, the spider that had dragged him in there also closes up the doors of its earthen lair once more to lay in wait for its next unsuspecting victim.

Cel was free of the spiders, and now knew of a very special place for turning the table on would be hunters who thought to ... track him down.  The former Elven Knight comes out of the hills and forest onto the bank of the small river running south-southwest toward the Village of Elmshade.  The direction upstream is unremarkable with forest vegetation and hills on both sides.  The direction downstream from which the subtle scents of the blood came more strongly was a small island around which the river flowed.  A small, humble, wooden bridge leads out to the island and what appears to be white jagged stones remnants of what use to be a Holy Shrine to Mielikki that was destroyed in a battle between the Shadoweir and the now recently killed Lita Starfire with a Cat Lord.  The mandolin the Cat Lord was playing blew up when struck by an arrow Hi'el fired into it, and pretty much destroyed the entire Shrine.

The former cavalier eyes the location of the two lairs a moment, burning the path between the two spiders what passes as his mind before turning to look ahead. Though truly, it's not his eyes that lead him, it's his nose. Continuing at a tentative walk he lets his mind mull over details, like how dangerous his prey may be, especially when injured, and whether or not that shrine's likely to lend power against him even in its torn down status... all the more reason to try and drag the fight back where he has allies.

The area around the spiders' lair is indelibly etched upon the Ghast's mind, and the landmarks easily recognized should the need to ever return to this spot arise.  Though, innocent enough in appearance to fool some animals and the untrained eyes of wanderers in the forest, anyone with tracking skills or a Ranger might detect the tale-tell disturbances in the earth vicinity the hidden trapdoors to pinpoint their presence.  The venture along the side of the river is quiet and uneventful, no one or nothing is about in the pre-dawn twilight, and the smell of blood though not fresh as in recently spilled fresh still leads him on, beckoning him to the island and the ruined shrine.

As the Ghast Knight reaches the bridge leading to the small island and ruins, it/he finds rocks holding down pieces of paper, and upon examination of said pieces of paper finds one side X'd out, advertising some sort of Gladiator Circus, and the other written in blood in crude Elven script {Rusva aina' samna. Samnuva winya aina' samna, Hi'el Troiye}  The blood does not belong to the prey Cel seeks but some other creature of feline heritage.  The blood on the paper was almost two days old, so whatever happened here happened two days ago.  Upon crossing out to the island, the Undead Knight finds clear indications of battle and a mighty explosion which destroyed the Holy Shrine and also discovers traces of the Horseman's blood and a human woman's blood too.  Even though the Shrine had been destroyed and defiled, the residual Holiness of the place still gives Cel the creeping willies which grows stronger the longer he/it  remains in the place.

His prey, had come and gone from this place... now what's he to do?  The sun would soon be upon the land, and if he was to obey the Vampyr's orders, would need to bring back some kind of animal to the ruins.  So what now?

Celebril pokes about with his foot on the small island a while until the place starts making him feel like his putrid flesh is about to crawl off. He ponders where to go to find this animal, pausing only once to flick his armored toes at the rocks and paper to knock them in the river, no more than on a whim to do whatever little thing he can to work against his enemy (no matter how small, trivial, and likely to be useless). He's not exactly pressed for time... distinctly remembering he had the day to hunt for the animal and his real hunt didn't start until night fell again. With that thought, erroneous or not, he resumes hunting for any sizeable animal by walking along the forest's edge, roughly in the direction of upstream.

The Ghast Knight retraces its steps, and goes upstream away from the both the Shrine and the Village of the Living... Elmshade.  The Walking-Corpse passes the path leading back to the lairs of the Spiders, and continues its hunt along the small river.  The rays of the sun which strikes Cel causes its rotting strench to increase tenfold from the build up of heat.  As the former Half-elven Knight covers seven miles upstream discovers an idealic if somewhat bizarre scene of 'people' fishing unawares along the opposite bank of the river.  The five 'people' Cel sees are hideous hybrid mutations of people and other creatures. In life, these monstrous creatures would've been an abomination to the sight of the former half-elven Knight, but now, they were just a possible meal. Of the five creatures visible, there are the following hybrids: a wasp (possibly female), a ferret, a bat, a snake (possibly female) and a jackal.

Celebril 'is' hungry, but after getting fought over by two spiders, he's not ready to rush in and take on five... things... he's not familiar with. Not at first at any rate, so he finds a comfortable spot where he can sorta keep out of sight near some concealance and observe, learning what he can before an assault.

Cel watches the 'people' for several hours as they do all sorts of activities associated with fishing... baiting hooks, casting into the stream, moving to better spots, reeling in their catches etc.  The beast creatures talk among themselves out of ear-shot of the Ghast without much fear or caution as though comfortably safe in this place at the river.  Despite their different appearances, it is easy to tell which of the creatures, as repulsive and disgusting a mental picture there might ever be, seem close or intimately social... the wasp wench and the ferret dude...  the scaly lass and the doggy dude.  Of course, being Undead, such things don't rightly bother the Ghast Knight anymore.  The creepy critter will probably, maybe except the wasp lady, taste just as good as fresh human... or Horseman for that matter.

Celebril gets too tired of waiting, hours have passed, he's hungry, and no grand schemes have sprung to mind... which has him back to his original plan no matter how poor it seems. Sneaking close as he can until some sort of outcry or change in behavior (which will be easier to notice after watching a few hours of their normal behavior he rationalizes) signaling he's possible spotted will get him to charge in.

Another great thing about being an Undead Knight dressed in field plate mail is you don't need air and you don't have to worry about drowning when you're sneaking up on your prey underwater.  Cel burst forth from the edge of the river easily surprising all the bizarre 'people' fishing from the bank, getting immediate attacks.  The Ghast emerges from the river closest to the ferret man with the scaly wench and jackal dude just next to him [10'].  Further away is the batman [20'], and furthest distant is the wasp gal [40'].

(OOC: Right, X is MIA, so going on with getting a few more Ghasts ready for Army Duty)
Location: Northeast of Elmshade Village, vicinity the small river and north of the destroyed Mielikki Shrine;
Time: Mid-Afternoon (D+1 after Temple's Destruction);

In the surprise round of attack, Cel immediately takes out the Ferret Man and the Jackal Dude with successful claw and bite attacks, leaving them lying paralyzed on the stream bank.  Once the shock of the Ghast's attack wears off, the Snake Girl immediately retalliates, shooting a yellow stream of venom from her open mouth at the Undead Knight, splattering his field plate armor with her poison juices.  Wasp Wench, seeing the dire straights of her friends, takes off into the air, her wings creating an angry buzzing noise as she flies toward the battle.  The Ghast leaps on the Venom-shooting Wench, and rips her apart with a claw and bite, paralyzing her also.  While dealing the Scaly Gal, Bug Girl covers the distance between them, and tries to help her friends, diving down on the Undead Knight.  Wasp Wench misses with her stinger attack.  Batman seeing how quickly his comrades have been slaughtered by the stinky Ghast, chooses the better part of valor, and yells "RUN!!!" fleeing into the forest.  Cel turns his attention on Bug Girl, and rips one claw across her throat, killing her before she can make another move.  While the urge to chase down and kill the batman was strong in the Ghast, the prey he'd already brought down down was sufficient to appease those desires.  The Ghast turns to the task at hand, and all except for the Jackal Dude, kills the other Beast People.  Leaving their bodies to rot in the daylight along the bank and latter arise as Ghasts, the Undead Knight carries the still living Dog Man over his shoulder back toward the Ruins.  Arriving at the Ruins where he'd departed from and finding the Minions of Orcus absent, Cel of course is confused, but soon finds well-trod trails through the scrub vegetation of many creatures.  Following the tracks, the Ghast soon rejoins the Army of Orcus, and brings into the temple the sacrifice of the Jackal Man as ordered.
