((Note: This is the home for verious persons of mine. This Pillar Haniko and a few others found when exploring the Ruins a few months ago. I have been gone so i havn't been able to make this post. This home was officially given to me by Stormcrow.))
((This is just a description of the outside and the inside of the Pillar.))
Outside
Standing tall near the edge of the ruins, surrounded by broken down buildings is a tall and wide marble pillar with grousom dipictions. Flame designs circle up the pillar, fully painted and masterly carved. The pillar stretches up in the sky about 50' feet and about 15' feet around. Every 10 ft down, and every 5 feet around there is a Demons face carved, Green, black, yellow, ect. each one of there masterfully crafted faces has an opened fanged maw about 6 inches in diameter. old dried blood is stained around all the mouths and stained down the sides of the tower from it flowing out. Each of the faces are around 3' feet long and 2' wide. The faces nearest the ground have the most blood stains. A Green Demon face near the bottom has a pair of rubys in its eyes.
Inside
Once inside their is a platform with the same Green demon face with amethyst eyes on a podium in the middle. It has the gapping maw, 6 inches in diameter.
Once the platform moves it goes all the way to the bottom (((nearly 100 feet under ground everything, thick stone))) to a thick stone slab door. The same demon face is near the door. this one has Topez eyes.
Once the door is open an anchient Alchemy lab awaits you as you enter. The room is nearly 90 feet square. Alchemy tables and equiptment covers half of the room. A crystal ball rests on one of the tables in a cobwebbed old stand. a rusty metal door on the other side of the wall shows its unuse but it has been opened recently. The last half of the room is shelves, cozey furnature to sit in, a small coffie table and an open area that has runes drawn on the walls by chalk. A few of the shelves have are full of books, with straggling books around the shelves and the lab. ((15 misc. books, 4 spellbooks ((Dawn's,Olivianna's and 2 of Leech's old ones)), 4 alchemy books, 7 books on various religions, Tales of Faerun,Vagabonds Guide to Staying Alive in the Wilderness, Monster Compedium, Monster Watching Guide (spy glass in a leather case near it), 3 books of music, and 4 scrolls in a locked case.))
Another doorway leads to a staircase that leads down into an open room about 150 foot square and another 20 feet deeper in the ground. A fountain with fresh flowing water is set in the direct middle of the room. In several distinct points on the floor there are things used for training (combat dummies, archery targets, est.) On this floor there is several doorways. Five of them have wooden doors, two of them have steel doors, and five doorways have curtains. One doorway is roped off.

OOC - What reactions from Jarlosh on my 3 questions?  Is there anyplace to get a bath besides the inn?  Does the "Barber Shop" do this?  But, where-ever it gets done, it DOES get done.  Lina has the money to add a "bath" to her weekly room-rate.

Lina maybe spends a bit too much time dancing with Deatharcher Blues, and has to hurry just a bit to be downstairs with instruments and ready to play. Her first song is an instrumental heavy with emotion in praise of own's homeland [IE, like Edeilweiss from The Song of Music]. This will be a signature piece, she will always begin performances here with that song. As before, 45 minute sets, playing from 4pm-ish to 10pm-ish. When she starts, she will say that she plans to perform here Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Lina will watch for Kaze to appear.  But whether she sees him or not, she will play Deatharcher Blues in the 3rd set.  She will say that she "heard this melody once and am working on a harmony to go along with it.  A work in progress, I hope you like it."  After the last set, Lina will spend half an hour in the bar.

OOC - I'll be blunt.  How much did I make?

Next morning, before Lina comes downstairs, she will have her backpack packed for the week and have it next to the pack to be returned.  She will wear some of the recovered Drow clothes, with the chain underneath, and a pouch-belt.  A sword belt sets with the packs, as well as the two practice weapons.

She will indicate to Claude the formulas to copy.  She wants *2* full sets; she plans to give one copy to Claude. She would appreciate it if he would care for her performance clothes once they have been cleaned.

Once downstairs, Lina will ask Jarlosh for bread, butter and cheese with juice for breakfast, and slips him the necessary coins. Lina hopes to speak with one or more hopeful laundresses. She will want the lady to do 3 to 5 loads of laundry a week. One load will be her performance clothes. She will offer 5c per load, for 2nd day service, weather allowing.

With her in-town questions answered, she is ready to return to the Pillar.

((sorry, i havn't been able to get to my computer in the past few days))

At the Pillar
"...And in short everyone i need one of you to come along." Kaze finished as he sipped a cup of tea that had been prepaired for him. he moved a little and leaned back in the chain placing his feet on the dinning room table. He looked around at everyone as they had gathered all the important information that he had given them. He pulled a pipe out of his belt pouch. he put it up to his lips as the pipe magically lit itself. Kaze inhaled deeply blowing a smoke ring. he staired at the ceiling and then he returned his gaze upon the people seated in this dinning room. "So will it be you Princess Dawn? Shinigami? The Crystalmars? The paladin of Zeus, Keg Splitter, or the Fire Witch? you guys choose but you all know what your historys, your experiences, and your reputaions say about each one of you. Each of you are already legends, some has been awakened to it faster than others but i must say it must be something for the DF to be involved and for the DF to have asked me to come and ask your assistance. So who will be coming with." he looked around the room of faces. smoke exhaling out of his nostrils.
Dawn prepaired to stand but Olivianna waved a hand gently at her and she stood up. "I will go. Elmshade needs my flames. Not to mention, i need to clear my reputation in Relm. This should do good for me. Kaze i will go with you into the ruins." She turned to the others. "See to is Ascellina is taken good care of. Dawn makesure you teach her the Arcane Alchemy and help her with magic. Leech, in my stead teach her how to use a sword, but teach her my way, Arwen help him with that and teach her how to be stealthy. Haniko, teach her honor, disiplin and how to understand the sword. Ironclad, Brotter. teach her the ingenuity of war and what skills she can use in the outside world including smithing, creating war machines, and what ever you deem worthy." she reached in her pocket and handed Dawn a silver key with a black diamond on the back of the key. "After i leave, unless you have to, no one goes in my room. understood?" she said as Dawn took it and nodded. "Kaze let me get my things and i will be ready to go."
Olivianna walked out of the dinning room and towards her room. Kaze nodded after all of the commands giving her his trademark smirk. he stood up taking a final puff at the pipe before he put it back in its place. He nodded to people goodbye as he walked outside of the dinning room and into the main entryway. everything was quiet then there was a sudden eruption of flames as kaze went flying backwards skidding on his back then rolling to his feet sliding back a little further before her stood up. he dusted the cinders and ashs off of his armor and shoulders.
"NEXT TIME KNOCK YOU PERV!" She yelled to Kaze as she came out of her room, a red robe wrapped tightly around he body. her hand holding the front closed. Kaze sat by the fountain shook his head and laughed. The two dwarves finding this whole situation holarious laughing hard at the whole thing. After a few minutes she came out dressed in her red dress with red gloves, boots, a gold circlet, a gold locket, a pair of gold bracelets, and a gold ring. She grabs her pack which was resting at the door, brings it out and sets it by her friends. She hugs everyone and grabs her pack and her kitten who was walking past.
"Leech, go get Ascellina when time calls for it." he nodded and they walked up stairs. Olivianna placed a scroll on one of the desks that was titled for Ascellina to read when she got back. They opened a portal through the crystal ball and exited outside...

((on monday morning Leech will be waiting in the tavern for Ascellina when she wakes up))

OOC - some clarification please?  I believe I got back to Elmshade between 10 and noon - unpacked the "Flame Folks" backpack and repacked mine.  Got the dirty clothes together and laid out the outfit for this night's performance.  Had lunch with my family and spoke with Jarlosh RE who might have a house I could rent in the next 3 months, where to get a bath [I have the funds to add a 'bath' to my current rooms, and who would be able to do laundry for me. What reactions from Jarlosh?  I dawdled over Deatharcher Blues and had to hurry, but got a bath as part of my performance prep.  How was the performance appreciated?

Additional Sunday activity:

Claude will copy the formulas twice and receive his own copy.  One copy is placed in the backpack for Livia and the Flame Folks.  Claude will also receive instructions on what to offer and insist on with anyone who responds to "Laundress Wanted" [IE, 5cp per load for 2nd day service, weather allowing, min of 3 loads per week].  Set out clothes for performance.  Practiced for min 90 minutes before bathing and performance.  How was the performance appreciated?

Monday AM:

No later than 8am, Lina will come downstairs ready to travel.  Seeing Lord Leech, Lina will go to him.  If he has not eaten, she will offer to buy his breakfast.  She will be very aware of Lord Leech's timeline.  If the situation presents itself, she will introduce Claude as she tells Claude he will have to handle the arrangements for the Laundress.  As they leave, Lina will wear her own pack and carry the one being returned.  Lina feels they can be enroute back to the Pillar by 9am.

(( sorry about that. I don't know if there is a house Jarlosh could get you. The bath is no problem, laundry will be about 10 cp per load. the money you gained. minus the gems and extra money Dawn, Haniko, and Leech gave her. after you take that off. double your money. almost all the crowd was getting into it.))

Leech smiles and nods to Claude. "She talked a lot about you last night. Your the Alchemist in training?" he askes knowing the answer but trying to be friendly. After he answers. "I used to me an apprentice myself." he holds out his hand and crystal started to form in his palm. On its completion it cameout to be a crystalline statuette of a sleeping kitten. "but, i'm no longer the apprentice. I'm just myself."  he set it on the bar top, waved his hand and kitten statuette opened its little crytal eyes. It uncurled itself streched its back like a real kitten. It looked up at leech and the others and meowed. it blinked again and with another wave of leechs hand the kitten curled back to sleep and then stayed still. He then looked out the window. "We have to get going." he looked to Ascellina. "It was nice to meet you Claude. Perhaps we will see you at another time." He got up and waited for her to grab her things and then got there things

They walked through the Woods. The morning air was clean and crisp. The smells of summer everywhere. a patch of wild lillies growing on both sides of the path. A cannary lands on Acellinas shoulder. Leech turns around and you see him smile happily. "Now you know why i love it here." He smiles as a crossbow bolt flies in the air and hits the bird. It doesn't kill it, but hurts it badly. It cries on the ground. Leech turns around whirling a dagger in the direction the bolt came. it thuds in a tree. a few men laugh in the distance as three guys appear infront of them. all whereing tattered black cloths over armor. The one armed with a crossbow and falcion (huge twohanded scimitar) the middle one a big guy armed with a great axe, the last guy a skinny man with a drawn rapier.
"Damn, i thought we would have killed it. Oh well." the one said.
"How about you guys drop all of your possetions that are worth money so we don't have to kill you." the axe carrying man said.
"Yeah, Were not murders." the man with the rapier said but the others tried to stiffle a laugh. "were just thieves. so if you would be so kind..." Leech stepped infront of Ascellina and drew his sword. Ascellina felt something being pressed in her hand. In her mind she heard Leechs voice saying. Put this on, when battle breaks out. think about vanishing. I want you to sneak around the back and run the man with the crossbow through with your scimitar. Olivianna told me to teach you how to fight like her, and that is how you do it. If you cannot put yourself to kill or injure the man then go invisible and climb into the nearest tree.
While Ascellina hear this in her head, Leech is talking normally to these thugs. " Listen gentleman. I don't wish to have to hurt you guys, but you hurt my friend, and now you have made me angry. If you don't hurry up and leave i will have to resort to injuring you all very badly." He took his shield off of his back and pointed his sword at them. "Leave while your still in one piece." They all laughed.
"A little man with a big mouth and young bard is going to face us. HA, were the Maceon brothers, the scourge of Waterdeep. So what are you going to do now little man?"
" I am Leech Crystalshard, The Crystal Shield. If you don't Leave i will be resorted to kill you." he said this more sternly. his eyes glaring poisonously.
"Never heard of you." the one said as he loaded his crossbow agian. "But i will remeber the name when i take your head."
He looked over his shoulder to ascellina as he ran towards them, shield up, swords point at them. "Now you know why i hate it here!" As he ran the big man tih the axe swung the it at him. He side stepped as brought his sword down upon the axe handle. Splintering it in two. He then put his sword to his throat, the tip scraping his small beard giving it a slight trim. "If you don't leave, It will have to kill you all." The three looked scared as a whip wrapped around Leechs neck. he was dragged a few feet, in which her dropped his sword. He was moved by his neck up a tree branch until he was hanging several feet above the ground. the man on the otherside of the whip slid down the tree and was now standing on the ground. Leech twisted his body and twiched. He struggled against this hanging. The others laughed as They all looked at Ascellina. They all took as step towards her (save the guy holding the whip.) then they looked around as a thick fog started to roll in. The creepy mist had no point of origin at all. Then as things were getting obscured a horses hooves thudded on the ground around the area. The sound couldn't be traced to one place.

Back with Jarlosh:
[Another silver] - "Let me have a 3rd room, on either side of where we are now, then.  I'll pay that room to run with the others when it's ready. Claude will bring down some laundry, mostly my performing garb.  When it's ready, he can put them in my room, here's for that load [another silver]"

Back with Claude:
Lena will send him to purchase more parchment [for her use in the Pillar] [1pp = 10ep = 10 sheets].  And the sheets and her pen and ink are included in her pack.  She will leave these in her room and buy more for her use in Elmshade.

Claude is amazed at the abilities of Lord Leech and thinks to himself "Aunty Lena has found herself some amazing friends.  I am happy just doing the herbs! the occasional simple and perfumes."

Lena takes no time to settle her pack in place and, carrying the second one, accompanies Lord Leech towards the Pillar.  Walking in the woods brings back thoughts of happier times.  And a canary-bird lights on her shoulder!

As the bird falls from her shoulder, Ascellina is momentarily confused, but rapidly becomes angry by the sight of the wounded bird.  She turns and sees the approaching group of bravados.  "Damn strong arm bullies" She mutters to herself, "just like ... " Her thoughts are interrupted by their demands and she starts unconsciously grinding her teeth, muscles twitching and wanting to kill ...

Her concentration is diverted when Leech passes her something, which she unconsciously puts on.  "Maceon brothers, huh. Where is Waterdeep? Maybe later I can check them out ... "

Seeing Leech seemingly being hung by an unknown person, Lena is taken off guard, but quickly and in a strangled voice screeches "Leave NOW!!";   she thinks quickly about disappearing as Leech ordered.  As she ducks and moves toward her target she thinks, "It's not civilization you hate Leech, it's *people*!"

Again, as per orders, she draws her blade and sneaks quietly but quickly around to behind the man holding the crossbow.  Remembering her all-to-brief training, she gathers herself and puts all her strength into the blow, slashing against some vulnerable area of the body, not covered by armour.  If possible, preferred locations are middle of the back above the waist, or the legs.

Once struck, she will, still thinking about vanishing, attempt to sneak behind another of the thieves.  Next target would be "great axe".  Although she would like to move to position herself near Leech;  she keeps her eyes open to the new situation of mist and hooves, ready to take advantage of any situation. And realizes these all must die.

OOC - Something messed up - probably ME - I sent a 2nd OOC msg with some questions in it.  If I look CLOSE while online, like I am now, I'll lose it.

If I can't FIND it, I'll need to recreate it.  Nothing asked effects the current thread.  So, I'll try to get it posted by the end of the day.

When I need to do this again, and I'm sure I will - should I just make the 2nd msg a differant thread?

The thieves seemed to be distracted by the mist and the hooves to even notive her vanishing. furthermore, before Ascellina made her first backstab. an arrow streaked and one of them screamed. The scream ws short lived as a hard thud soon followed it. It was immpossible to tell who fell for the white obscuring fog was so thick she could only see a few things. She then, seeing the oppertunity struck the man with the crossbow. the silent blade slipped though the fog and into his ribcage. He let out a wail of pain as he spun arround with a speedy flash of steel. She was able to take a step back as livia had tought her but the moving back was pointless seeing the blade connected with another silvery piece of steel. Not much was seen for a moment. Ascellina then felt a strong arm wrap around her waist. The movement was fast and steady. she was in the arms of the misterious horseman. A second pair of hands helped bring her up to the soft saddle on this horse.
As they rode off, a few loud explosions were heard. A smile arked the misterious riders face. After a little time they were entirly out of the fog. The man was dressed in field plate. he shiethed his great sword on his hip. He had a shinny helm on and shinny armor with blackened chainmail under it all. Behind Ascellina on this large saddle was Leech with the wounded bird in his hands. He cast a healing spell on it. The wounds healed and after a few moments the bird flew off on its own. "Your a little incurrect. I hate civilization, but i also hate people. both frighten me." he waved goodbye to the bird as it flew off. "Oh parden my rudemess. This is Sir Tidus Gend, Knight in the Order of Magic. He has been assigned to us by a deck of cards believe it or not. He is a good companion and he is often in control by Arwen, but who knew." he shrugged.

As Ascellina finds herself plucked from the battle-field, she has a momentary dread of falling into the fire from the frying-pan.  But then realizes that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"  - and recognizes Lord Leech as the mist starts to lift.  She looks for something to wipe the blood from her blade.  If it is not immediately apparent, she will wipe the blood on her sleeve before sheathing the sword.

She watches as Leech heals the bird and she unconsciously caresses her beads.

"Sir Gend, my profound thanks for your timely assistance.  I dare say - 'A card well-played, indeed' - Lord Leech, may I return your item?"  and Ascellina will offer back the object Leech had but lately pressed into her hands.  "Are we still headed back to the Pillar?  or somewhere else?"  Ascellina finds it easy to keep a brave front, there is something just a bit exhilarating about a short bracing scrimmage to keep the adrenaline pumping.

As the trip continues, Lena will ask Leech "I'm not a stickler for a stand-up faces across the swords fight - No offence Sir Knight - would not a shorter straighter weapon be easier in this case?  Say a short sword or a long-tooth?  Might that not be a better weapon for me?"  [ A Bard *is* of the Rogue class, after-all ... ]

OOC - what about the *two* backpacks?  Lost and gone forever?  Or picked up by Leech as they left the field?

They continued to ride towards the pillar.Leech looked forward as Ascellina. "Yes, were heading back." he said with a smirk excepting the ring back. "I will try and teach you any weapon you think you would want to learn. Short sword however. I shall ask my sister. she is the one who uses short swords the most. I like Longsword personally, and well Sir Tidus here perfers two-handed swords. Speaking of which, how did you find us?"
"Well, i was riding through because Lady Dawn requested i get some more fire wood for the smithy and then i saw those three try and injure the lady. They hit the bird instead and then i realized if i didn't step in, all four of them were going to be killed. I didn't see a reason for all of them to die. Expecially over a bird, i know how you get Master Leech."
"I'm glad you came by either way. but if you didn't want them to die, then why the bombs?" Leech asked reasonably.
"Well a man is allowed to kill if he feels his life is threatened." He moves his cloak a little and a large gash is torn through his platemail with a lottle bit of blood seeping through. "Only a scratch i know, but he ruined my armor and injured me in the process. The only people that were killed out of all of this was the man with the whip and the big fellow with the axe. The others should have survived, and i don't believe they will ever steal again." he said with a confident smile.
"I see, well i think were both glad you came by." Leech said confidentally. "Tidus." he says as something comes to his mind. "Before you take us home, take us to the cart. lets re-weapon Acellina before she goes home, Do we still have the stock of short swords in there?"
"Yes we do. Short swords arn't selling well this season. Very well, the cart it is." he turns his horse and head towards the cart.

"Lord Leech" Ascellina ventured "the skills required to wield a blade are pretty much the same.  If in training your weapon is longer, I just learn quicker how to attempt to counter it.  If I may ask, did I strike correctly at the bowman?"

After a few moments thought, she also said "Sir Tidus, were these thieves after any travelers who might happen through the area?  or did they know who they were attacking?  I would think a tree is a fairly ODD place to lay in wait for some one."

As they approach the cart, Ascellina spots some herbs she knows and quietly asks Lord Leech if she might "gather a few herbs to dress the knight's wound" - waiting for a response she gathers herself to jump down and forage for the necessary greenery.

It takes only a few moments to gather the grasses and stalks, and a few moments more with two rocks pulps them and the herbal concoction  is ready.  To pull the end of her blouse free and rip off a healthy length to serve as a bandage takes hardly any time.  Lena smears the sticky mess onto the linen and approaches the knight.  "Good Sir Knight, could I persuade you to pretend to be injured and in need of medical attention?  I am not a *Healer* but do have some knowledge of herbs."

Entering into the room (see first post for full description) everything can be sePosted by Arashi_Ken2 on 6/9/2005, 39KBen. The rooms open, various voices speaking throughout the place talking to Posted by Arashi_Ken2 on 6/9/2005, 63KBone another about different topics. Several pesents walk around doing work, a new addition to the pillar that Lena can remember. Soon a familiar face comes into view. Out from the kitchen dressed in her flowing red robes. Soon followed by a woman dressed in brilliant white robes. Olivianna and Dawn look to everyone that has come and both go over to greet her warmly.
"We were worried something was going to happen to you." Livia says giving her a hug.
"Yeah so we sent out Leech and Tidus to find you. With this unnatural winter we got woried that something mught happen. We didn't ruin any research did we?." Dawn says welcoming her back. They look to Claude. "Where are my manners." Dawn curtsies as does Livia. "I am Dawn Morninglade, This Is Olivianna Spark. Welcome to our home. and you are?"
After the introductions Dawn and Livia leed Lena and Claude to lena's room and everyone that came in dispursed. "Your room is still intact and no one has been in it sence you left. As for Where he is gonna sleep, we had to build some rooms on the upstairs next to the alchemy lab. One is a single bedroom for now the other is a sort of bunker for all the people that we might be taking in. You can choose where you wanna sleep for now, the first bunker is finished the single room still has some room. but as it is we only have a total of four peasents and four new guests that are adventurers." she turns around and looks to Olvianna. "Take Him to the bunker for now so he can pick out a bed and stuff." Livia nods and smiles warmly to Claude taking him up the stair case. Once alone Dawn talks to Lena.
"I don't know if the war has started yet but we have some very unfriendly things outside out the pillar doors. Mostly undead but we have seen some demons too. Things that even master Leech would have trouble with. I sudjest that if you have to go anywhere it is through the secret entrance you came through today and that you don't go alone. As for newcomers we have recruited one person the rest came to us. We have Marina, she is another alchemist and she is a water mage and a good one to boot, We have Areal who is a healer, Her brother Azreal Who is our resident pick pocket, and we have Tenchi for if we have a whole lot of trouble. You will most likly be able to tell the difference between all of them but try not to get Tenchi unnerved if you can help it, which i'm sure you can, but he is an assassin who has taken refuge here. but for your confort he normally isn't down here and when he is he stays to himself. but i'm sure there is things that you may want to do and i'll leave you to it. The lab is yours and if you need me i'll be down in the kitchen cleaning. Livia and Marina normally have the lab around this time. You should speak with them with whatever there doing now." Dawn stays for another minute to answer any questions and then she goes back to her buisness rolling her sleaves back up and putting the bandana back on to protect her long hair.

Upstairs
Livia leads Claude up the large staircase to the great alchemic lab. The bookshelves Posted by Arashi_Ken2 on 3/23/2006, 7KBnearly full and Alchemic equipment. A blond girl in blue robes works Posted by Arashi_Ken2 on 3/23/2006, 48KBon a bubbling caldrin as the orange liquid is pumped through a series of various tubes and beakers and slowly drips it now green liquid into a 1/4 full glass jar. A small dragon sits next to her reading from the book that is right next to it. "Now you need some clover." The dragonnette says as Marina slowly tears the green, leafy weed into the mixture, the orange liquid turns a dull pink. They continue on into the left room. The right rooms door is closed with a construction sign on it. Inside the left room is a 60 by 60 room with approximatly 8 bunk beds with an entire half of the room that needs a set of beds. at the foot of each bed is a large chest. all the top bunks have this too but the chest is suspended to the end of the bed by rope. all the beds at this time are empty "Go ahead and pick a bed. I believe the top bunk on this one is empty, that one is marina's, that one is Tenchi's....ummm that bottom bunk is free to i know that one for sure."
