Travelling in the direction the High Priestess had indicated, Tessa was thankful for the enchanted boots which Hi'el had given her. She knew her tender feet would be much more sore and swollen if she had been wearing her high heeled noble-woman's boots. Even so, the lovely blonde was still in a mood as she and the other two fought their way through the thick, wild undergrowth of Elmshade's forest. Tessa had been using the wooden stakes to slash at brambles and branches which were in her way, and although she was somewhat competent, her progress was not nearly as adept at Bryce's and Ethan's. "My feet hurt. Can't you two slow down a little!? It's not like we're making any great speed anyway in this mess of a jungle." The two men could hear her bitching from the rear of their little trio, as she often lagged behind, complaining and whining as if they were her personal servants. "Gods!" she cursed again and swatted at one of the many mosquitos that had found her flesh particularly tasty. "I swear to Mystra, if I only knew how to make a good bug repellent, I would!" Within moments, the buxom woman had blindly stumbled into a spider's web and her ensuing shrieks sent birds whirring into the air and canopy above. "OH MY GOD, Get it OFF! AGHhhhhh! Get it off!"

Bryce took a deep breath and counted to ten, slowly. The arrow knocked to his bow was eased, but only enough to reduce arm strain and prevent accidents. I could be back at the inn right now. Drinking watery drinks, watching bar maids, maybe even spending a night with one. But no. I had to take the bait. He took another deep breath, resisted the urge to shoot her, and turned around slowly. "Milady, calm down. Please." He gripped the arrow with two bowfingers and reached out to swish away the wisps of spider silk. "Its only webs."

  The sound of breaking branches echoed through the forest as Ethan used one of the stakes to clear the thick bush in front of him. "This would be a good time to carry a Machete..." he thought to himself, trying to distract his attention away from Tessa's endless complaining. All was going well, until a shrill scream echoed through the forest. He turned around sharply and a hand went to the hilt of his short sword, but the tension and alertness that the scream had beckoned died away. He shook his head and let out a sigh, standing there waiting for Bryce to clear the cobwebs away. "Make sure to check your hair as well. It might be crawling in there..." and he gave a smirk and grinned as he turned around, continuing his advance into the ruins.

Time:  Sunset, D+2 after Night of Wine Sickness and Temple Destruction (D=day);
Tessa info:  Next modification at D+5. She still feels some mild flu-like symptoms of a fever, chills, some weakness, and continues having restless sleep, and haunting dreams (will work on the dream posts for Tessa when next she sleeps);

((Hey guys, sorry for the interrupt.  I've already spoken to Arienne on this matter, but want to get your consent before doing anything.  I need to migrate Vampire Hunters, Three into Restoring the Balance: Quest for the Wand of Orcus (Episode XI) to combine two divergent threads heading for the same place.  Let me know what you think.  Tks.))

Allowing herself to be comforted somewhat by Bryce's attentions, Tessa gave Ethan an unappreciative look at his teasing. She brushed through her blonde tresses with shaky hands and took a deep breath, squaring her shoulders and throwing up her chin in that haughty way she had. "Thank you," she said to Bryce and gave him a quick peck on his rough cheek. Then she mustered as much dignity as she could and once more began making her way through the woods.

Toward the end of the day, the three travelers came within sight of the huge, dilapidated cathedral and the surrounding ruined buildings. There were many low walls which had crumbled to only a few feet high, a couple of half standing doorways which opened on empty areas, and brambles and dead vines which seemed to cover all. The sun was starting to sink and Tessa had finally quit whining for awhile, conserving her energy, it seemed, for the journey. She sat on a nearby smooth stone and let out a loud sigh. "I don't wanna go in there after dark," she stated, crossing her well-toned arms. "If we're gonna be fighting undead and vampires, I don't wanna be doing it in the dark. Besides...my feet still hurt, and I dunno how I'm expected to fight dead people when I can barely even stand." She looked at the two men. "Can't we camp here or something and then go fight them in the morning?"

((Sorry for my delay in posting. This final semester of classes has kept me swamped. If you two are open to it, we can merge this thread with the one Hi'el suggested. If we do, we'll probably end up with more characters in the story. I leave it up to you guys, though. ))

     The wind whips through his long blond hair as him and Moonshine rode towards the ruins. The afternoon clouds floated with there careless motions. the beams of light shining upon him as his horse lept over a large fallen tree. "Come my old friend, we shall reach the gates before nightfall. i wish to inspect these ruins once again." Kaze whispered to his horse as they rode.
     Within time they reached the outskirts of the ruins themselves. the cool day was turning to night. Kaze hopped of his steed and pulled his longsword from its shieth on the horse and placed it in it's back shieth over his cloak. Tanglelance was on his belt. Kaze slung his quiver over his shoulder and grabbed his double bow.
     Kaze's steps were trackless and soft. He crept towards a collapsted wall and hid behind glancing past it make sure the coast was clear. After seeing everything was clear he continued forward quick and silent. He stepped into an anchient cathedral. the stained windows shattered shave the main mural of the archaic goddess of which they used to worship.
     He knocked two arrows in the bow and placed his back against the inside wall of the cathedral. He sniffed the air, and looked at the ground seeing people had recently been here. He hid in the increasing shadow from the setting sun.bringing the hood up on his black cloak to cover his face. He walked forward to investigate who or what is here.

((Okay, I seem to have lost complete control over my storyline (Vampire-Undead/Orcus' Wand).  That stops as of now, and no one is blame.  To all participants, do not take umbrage or become upset by the unilateral actions I'm taking as DM to reinstate my control.  All your posts will be migrated into the Quest for Orcus' Wand thread solving the disconnect.  Email me if you have further comment.  This thread is dead.))
