Dad had his surgery on Wednesday, The surgery went well they were able to remove the whole upper lobe of the lung laproscopically, and were able to get him off the ventilator immidiately after surgery, He was doing really well.
Day two, he was still holding his own and breathing really well and they were predicting another two days and he would be out.
Day three, Good news they got the full tumor and all of the surrounding tissues showed no signs of cancer and the lymphnodes were also clear which means they are confident that it didn't spread and unlike before they reduced it to a stage 2 ( originally thought it was stage three)
Bad News for Day 3 Dads White cells count was critically high over 40000 and he couldn't breathe well on his own, so they had to put him on a bipap machine (it's a mask with velcro straps and a seal that forces the air into his lungs to keep his oxygen levels at a safe level)
Day Four, Dad's oxygen levels are getting worse and he's getting agitated and delirious, and he keeps pulling the bipap mask off, he has developed a severe pneumonia on the good lung, so they put him on a ventilator they tell us they can have him weaned off in three to four days.
Day Five, Pneumonia is even worse and ventilator is not working as well as expected, they move him from the surgical ICU to the Pulminary ICU the Pulminary specialist informs us he will be on the ventilator for at least two weeks if they can even get him to come off of it, He has it ordered to be taken off if he can't sustain life on his own after a certain amount of time.
So I will not be here for quite sometime because I have to make an hour and a half trip every day to see him and I am not staying at home at the time I stopped at home quickly to see the kids and thought I would update you Hope you are all doing well.  Will see you when this is all over with for better or worse.

Cheri
