Ok we have been given our 30 day consultation period for the redundancies :'o(. We are already losing the Agency staff this week, who were told last week that they have to go. And they're really really hard workers too!!! Grrrrr
All we know is there are 100 people who will be out of a job, and that's all we've been told.
All because of self-service check in Kiosk's (which i might add, crashed this morning for 3 hours almost, and our computer system's crashed, and we just didn't have the staff to deal with all those passengers) It was bloody horrible!! The amount of abuse I got because of it, I just wanted to walk out and cry. Sick of it!!!! Sick of the complaining about this and that!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR but I can't afford to just leave. And no-one is hiring atm either!!! Arghhhh!!! sucks!
I also tripped over a passengers bag, my shoe went flying, I went sliding along the floor, hurt my friggin ankle and knee! blah. I also had some passenger wheel their bag right over my toes (OUCHIES)!!! And apart from being yelled at, it was a pretty average day. LOL.
I think I made alot of excess baggage *wink wink*. Every £1,000 we make we get £20 gift voucher, which we have to wait months on end for, which help out on fuel.
I tell ya. I love the job itself. Despise the airline and the hours. The money is good for the area, but really bad for what we do. We should get danger money as we're a potential target for terrorists, and as we're still on high alert (the 2nd from the top), but have been informed that there has been "movement" from the Al Quaida (or however u spell it) group.....so we're really on critical alert again! GRRR
I can't move to another airline, because they're in the same position as we are...yet not the the redundancies...just no hiring atm. The Airline/Travel industry is in turmoil atm because of fuel costs. Several Airlines and travel tour operators have gone bust this year, so things are all up in arms!
Though I love the job, I can't deal with the grief we constantly get from people. It's gotten a whole lot worse, and people have turned nastier as the days have gone on. I tell ya some people can be beyond rude. And there is no need for it. Like today, the computer's went down, nothing we could've done to prevent it, nothing we could do whatsoever, and this passenger went absolutely ballistic at us because of it. As if it's OUR fault. I asked him if he worked with computer's in his job, and he replied "yea and?" I asked him if it had ever crashed, he replied "yea and?" I then said, "was that your fault?" he replied "no it weren't my f*ing fault, it crashed, i didn't do f* all!" I said "there, you just answered what I wanted you to" he soon shut up and went slightly red from embarrassment, after he realised. I asked him if his customer's yelled and swore at him when his computer crashes. he shut up by then and replied very shyly, no. lol. 1-Ground Staff 0-Grumpy crappy passengers! LOL! woot woot! hehe.
Anyways sorry have rambled on abit. LOL.
I've been up since 2.30am for work (worked 3.30am-12pm) and it's now 8.15pm!
It's been absolutely freezing here. Infact, we've even had some snow!!!! Shocking I know. England & snow. Hmmm October. Definately unheard of here. So they're saying it's going to be a really awful and harsh winter this year :o(. I'm hoping not. I can't cope! LOL!
Anyways, i better shut up before I help you all to fall asleep. LOL
