Hi all well i am out of hospital after a pretty horrendous time. First of all the operation took 7 1/2 hours rather than the original 2 or 3 that were planned. Then i got sent to ICU for two nights because i was pretty sick. They have told me i had the worst case of endometriosis they have ever seen. They took everything out, cervix, ovaries, uterus and fallopian tubes. Also had to take part of my bowel, i now have a Stoma bag for at least three months as the endo had grown into my bowel, coping with it well but i was pretty upset about it originally. All i could think was how is my husband going to want me with this ugly thing on me. Then i thought i was getting better and on about Friday night i start vomitting and couldnt stop. I had developed an illeus or my bowel had gone to sleep so i had to have a nasogastric tube put in to stop me vomitting. This was very distressing and really hurt my throat. Finally this morning at one in the morning i had the tube removed and all IV antibiotics stopped and am now on homeleave to be discharged from hospital tomorrow. Feel really weak still, have lost 8 kilos and have a huge scar going from my groin right the way up to about half way between my breasts and belly button. The other problem i had in hospital was my luers kept breaking down and i had a new one put in almost daily. i am sure i am going to sprout leaks. So its going to be a long and slow recovery and i will have to look forward to my next operation to close up my illeostomy.
Thanks for all your thoughts a prayers, i am sure they helped me cope with a very tough time.
Stephannie
