Hi groupies, just checking in to see how everything is and hoping you are all safe from the hurricanes. Hurricane Fay got close to where my mom was in florida and she had to get to the basement of her building for cover. I can't totally feel sorry for her because she has a beachfront condo but I do worry when the weather is bad because she drinks and stays put.  Fortunately one of her neighbors banged on her door and helped her into the basement. My mom said all she could see was 'white' as they got into the basement. that must have been sea spray and sand.

This past weekend we on the east coast had out fair share of wind, rain, etc. We even had a scary tornado warning that lasted from 7 45 until 9 pm. I went to check on my neighbors and see who was and wans't home and we agreed to get to the basement area where the storage rooms are if a twister ran through. I am pretty prepared for any kind of storm but I did learn something new last week. the weather channel said if you should have all your medication ready in a ziploc bag, even if the bottle is empty. After the storm you can go to any pharmacy with the empty bottle and your medication will be refilled. I never thought to keep an empty bottle but thought that was good advice. We already keep water, first aid kit, flashlight and some snacks in a waterproof thermal bag anyway. I always keep my cell phone charged which can be used as a GPS navigator if you get seperated from your family. I don't want to alarm anyone but we never had these kinds of storms in the northeast before and we should all be prepared.

Have a good week everyone and anyone in Ike's path please let us know you guys are ok. Lori
