Hi everyone. After 5 years of no vacation becauese I was helping my daughter through college and the last almost two years stabilizing my seizures, I am going to florida in January to visit my mom. she has a condo right ont he ocean and I am looking forward to having her all to myself. I am one of 5 kids and don;t get to see her much since she moved to florida 6 years ago.

Is there anything I need to do besides making sure I have my medical alert bracelet on?  Some people have told me that I need to have a written prescription to bring my dilantin on the plane. I take it three times a day. Should I just take enough for a day or so (incase of a snow storm) or do I not need to worry?

Have any of you flown and had problems with your health or seizures afterward? Iwould apprecaite any advice. I am going from Jan 15-25th. Lori

Glad you have a chance to get away. Hope you enjoy your vacation. I do not recall having problems with the seizures just due to flying. Pretty much the only thing that bothers me is that my ears will get plugged and then not want to pop for a long time after. So I always try to take a decongestant pill before flying. I have only flown 3 or 4 times (acutally 8 then since back & forth).
Take care,
Jana

Hi Jana. the next time you fly get a product called 'ear planes'. they kind of look like ear plugs but are vented to equalize the pressure in your ears. I have the same problem with pain in my ears, especially when the plane is landing. I was concerned if there is any problem bringing medication on the plane and if only a certain amount is allowed and if you need a written prescription from your doctor. I don't know if this is required but a few people I know that travel alot have told me they need documentation due to strickter rules of what you can bring on the plane. thanks. Lori
