Dom has wet his bed 3 times since he's been home from the hospital. I have no idea what is going on. I know that when he has a seizure that he will wet himself. I called the neuro and left a message with them. The neuro is out of town for a week so I talked to the nurse. There's nothing I can do until he gets back. I'm thinking of putting him back in pull ups at bed time. He seems to have regressed and it breaks my heart. He's come so far. It makes me worry for his future.

Sam, what medicine is he on? Did they increase the dose before he came home?? If so, that could be it. Some meds have an tranquilizing affect on kids but not on adults - Benadryl is a prime example of that. For many years, I would take my Mysoline 45 minutes before I went to bed, and have no trouble sleeping. But at the same time, I had to not drink very much before bedtime, or I might have a leaky faucet before I could take care of things.

Hi Sam.  doesn't your neuro/doc have someone on call? You shouldn't have to wait until Monday or even tomorow.  My internist and neuro have someone on call.  I understand your anxiety.  I've had problems with leakage during a seizure or even afterwards. I use those poise pads because I don't like the underpants. Do they nake anything like that for boys?  I don't rmemeber Dom's age but think he is a little boy? I hope you get some answers so you can relax. If Dom is upset try to reassure him this is temporary until you can talk to the doctor. I get very upset with myself when this happens and I am 48!  Keep us posted on how youboth are doing.  Lori

Hi Sam,

I agree with Lori and Milinda, there should be a Nero one call, not just a nurse. I would call again and ask for a Nero on Call.

I used to wet in school, it was terrable, I will have to ask mom what she did for me hun, but I know what he is going through. It is a terrable felling that he can not controll. Hopefully it is his meds are just a little to high, and he is sleeping very deeply and just don't wake up to go tinkle, that is the best scenarial.

I am keeping him in my prayers everyday hun. You are such a strong and loving mom, just keep letting him know that. That will get him though more than what you would ever know.

Huggers, withangels

Hi Milinda,

They added Keppra to his meds. The goal is to wean him off the Tegretol and just have him on Keppra. He takes Tegretol, Keppra, Tenex (For ADHD), and multivitamin.

HI Lori,

Dom has a neuro. They have some on-call for emergencies only. But Dom's neuro is about 40 to 50 minutes from us. I spoke to the nurse because I've talked with her ever since Dom was a 3. The doc is out of town for a week so all I could to is leave a message. I had just seen him on Monday but forgot to mention the bed wetting. Right now, I wait and put Dom in those Goodnights. He doesn't seem to mind. He understands.

Thanks,

Sam I am

Very sorry to hear this. I can understand though as I had a sister who did it at an age when she was quite old enough to know better to get out of bed and go at night. We think though that she did it due to being abused when she was young so then for some reason freightened even though she was still in her own home. It was very sad. Hope you can get things worked out.
