Hello to everyone at Erin's.  As you must all know by now, I've been gone for months.  Last September, I moved to New York state and its been a little nightmarish, but interesting.  I miss the mountains and the sweet breezes of the Pacific Northwest and hope that we will return soon.  We have found, unfortunately, that New York is just not our style.  I once heard in a a movie that "East coast people are different" (from the movie Legally Blond).  Indeed they are, at least where I am at anyway.  If you say hello to someone, they want to know why.  If you try to do something nice, they want to know what you want.  Even a simple smile is often unwelcomed.  I'm not used to that.  I came from a city of over a third of a million people to a little town of less than 11K and I have to say, give me the city anyday.  I wanted quiet, I got quiet.  I wanted simplicity, I got simplicity, but what I didn't expect was to remain friendless.  I've been here long enough now to a least make some simple acquaintences, but unless you are a first or second generation Canandaiguian, forget it!  You have to find a clique to fit in and I'm not a cliquish kind of gal.  I have too much time on my hands and nowhere to spend it, lol.  We gave up much to come east and we're virtually starting all over again.  At my age, I'm not too keen on that concept, but what are ya gonna do?  In the meantime, I'll be stopping by occasionally to say hi and I'm sure glad I was able to get my computer to let me back into the group.  I hope all is well with everyone and nothing major has attacked any of you.  Stay safe, be good to each other and know that you are loved.  Hugs, Pam  aka ArchAngel

Hi Pam,
Glad you found your way back.  Nice to have you here again.  Sorry to hear it is taking you a while to make friends in your new digs, but hang in there.  It takes people a lot longer to warm up to others in the cities mainly due to all the oportunists that rove them looking for an easy score.  Take your time making friends and be careful.  I have lived in large cities most of my life.  There are many great people living there.  It just takes a little more time for them to find you through the fracas.

Welcome back! I am sorry you're having a rough time meeting new people in NY. I reckon people are cautious these days. Glad to see you back and once people get to know you I am sure things will go good.

Hugs,

Erin
